Richie Interview

Apologies if a repeat but Richie has a few digs at the BON JOVI machine, if the translation is anything to go by.......interesting what he says about WAN

Quote:

Richie: If Bon Jovi and I get back together in the future, it will be great - but different.

The Complete Interview with German TV Program RTL....translated with google:

So you have the choice to leave Bon Jovi and to be more for your family there, yet never looked back?

I'm not completely folded. At the time I only said that I do not at this rate. My daughter is now 16 as I said - and I was never home! Ava needed me and I needed them. Solo I determine their own pace; I tour three or four weeks and I'm back again.

But you have to imagine: the last Bon Jovi tour went over 18 months by 52 countries. The Tour before 14 months by 47 countries. In addition, I'm the guy who writes the songs and the album co-produced. And then cost the nine months that lay between.

I also found that the new album in the short time had not yet been properly done. It could definitely needs more work. Anyway, these two tours were the greatest in rock history alongside the Rolling Stones and The Grateful Dead. One wonders at some point: what counts more - personal happiness and family, or even more money?

Even though it is a very unpopular decision for the fans and the band was obviously - I have decided for the former. People will understand someday. Read more about Richie Sambora on luck, money and coolness - RTL.de at

The google translation doesn't seem to be too far off... questionable grammar aside. He says he never really quit, that WAN was unfinished, that touring takes time, writing and producing (funny he doesn't mention recording) albums takes time, and that solo, he gets to have breaks whenever he wants to.

He also says that if BJ and him were to reunite, it'd be great, but would be very different.

"If Bon Jovi and I get back together in the future, it will be great - but different."

That's what all the fans expect, a change.

"I also found that the new album in the short time had not yet been properly done. It could definitely needs more work."

The results are obvious, WAN needed more working time.

"Anyway, these two tours were the greatest in rock history alongside the Rolling Stones and The Grateful Dead. One wonders at some point: what counts more - personal happiness and family, or even more money?"

Richie perhaps chose the correct option, but damn, you should have warned a few weeks before, for find a replacement in time. Still, I forgive you Richie.

How do we know he didn't. I know the phone call before the show story, but how do we know he hadn't been protesting this before hand? These guys normally keep their differences away from the media, so I imagine this had been bubbling for a while before becoming public.

You should read the short interview in classic rock magazine,so full of it in there. Apparently he's never lived the rock star lifestyle,he's big on saving the planet because he's got a recycling bin in his kitchen etc. Oh,and Stranger......was written after Richie saw a tramp staring at him in his limousine and he thought why am I here and you're there? Pretty sure Bon Jovi said that incident went towards writing These Days.

Especially since the tour before was the LH tour which started in late October '07 and ended in mid-July '08, so it didn't even go for 9 complete months. Quite deluded statement, really.
