What do you mean saying that? Is it because albums are more "solo" than "band"?

I just can't take the lyrical content of the Jovi catalogue seriously when he looks the way he does. There is nothing wrong with grey hair at all, we all get it. But the disparity between the lyrical and melodic content of their music and a greying, suit wearing, now-wannabe rocker is huge.

It's difficult for everyone on this board to take years of a certain look and now be faced with the reality of his current image. I actually applaud the man for going natural but lets have it right, the music was only half the appeal, the look and image was the rest.

But what he's been singing about the last 10 or so years hasn't changed since his hair changed. Not only that we're basing this around recent photos of him in a suit at publicity events. It's not like he's wearing a suit on a day to day basis.

His style of lyrics hasn't changed in the last few albums. It's been a recent return to the boy/girl songs and thankfully less live-your-life shtick but it's not like he's writing rock hard lyrics that make it hard to see him in a suit.

Which image? Which looks? Jon has always been the pretty boy and for me it has always been 80 % music 20 % charisma. I wanted to go to the concerts getting great music. I like guitar riffs and a good voice. I was in it for collecting bootlegs and getting a good rock show. I wanted great acoustic parts, nice harmonies and tight rock songs. These things only work when everybody is in it and not faking it.

Why should I care for the hair? When I am in a stadium it is the audience and great moments of live music that make or break a show. That moment when you hear a great guitar solo or a nice cover song in the middle of Sleep. When was the last time anybody really talked about how great certain songs sounded? 2008? Two or three shows in 2011? and after that? Was there ONE big surprise? One mind-blowing show where anybody thought 'hey, THAT WAS AWESOME? where there thise moments? Sure, Cologne was good, 'Love's The Only Rule' was a cool surprise, This Aint A Love Song was cool, maybe Dry County wasn't that bad. But it was not fresh, great or anything close to being special for me.
And Berlin was awful and after that I wanted my money back.

Even if the new album is good, how will they put on a good live show? Phil X is not Richie and never will be and I couldn't care less about Jon's hair colour. I cared about Jon's voice, which is gone and causes me pain if he tries for the high notes.

Why should I pay 100 bucks for Jon's hair? or even half of it for the image or the looks?
Ryan Adams, my favorite singer songwriter is a great performer because he lives his music and not because there is talk about him having grey hair.
Yes, I know there is always this part of Jon having a stage presence but for me I want great songs and performances.

Guys, sorry for intruding myself into your conversation but there are some news from Jon
  • The album is being mixed up and will be released in Fall
  • A tour will follow early 2017
  • Band is back to Mercury/Island Records -> "they "sobered up" and he's "back home"

I mean ok you don't need to trust this until we hear something official but this account is quite trustful. Been following it for quite a while. They don't post crap

Ok, seems like a good source. But it's strange that they are back with UMG. Never expected that. Maybe that's why it took longer, although my expectations are going down because they may changed some songs. I thought this album was also inspired with the break from UMG and the album title makes less sense to me then.
