Johnny Rzeznik off The Goo Goo Dolls lived in there and now is moving to New Jersey because he's "tired of dealing with LA". Come on, I lived in LA for half a year, the city is great for those looking to have an active lifestyle outdoors, plus in their case, people don't give a shit about celebrities (expect for those huge starts) but I understand that in their business there's a lot of empty people, but don't blame the city.

For some reason i've always considered Shanks to be the incarnation of a redneck who likes to drink beer all day long and eat ribs while complaining about how f*cked up America is, you know the type that sits on his porch all day and lives on the country side and threatens to shoot people who trespass on his proprierty.

I don't get that vibe at all. He definitely produces very American sounding albums but they never seem to touch on the Southern Rock sound.

I sincerely hope you're right about this being the first promo pic, because trying to be a "big rock" band without a guitarist to show off is a suicide mission. As far as "finishing" the album, that probably only involved Phil playing Shank's guitar tracks.

Jon's definitely growing his hair out -- he needs to start darkening it. As for the back-to-Mercury crap, Jon woke up, smelled the coffee, and made THEM an offer they couldn't refuse!

Giving up some publishing and/or mastering rights is my best guess. Or maybe they worked some kind of two-way deal with his pal Irving Azoff picking up some of the tab. It could also be a one-off (one album) deal which Jon hopes to use as leverage to get a more lucrative one if the album is successful!

@rocknation - can you tell us how the negotiations went down seeing as you were clearly there?

I'm guessing the pic was taken roughly around May 18, when Phil posted pics of Dave's rig and a talkbox in Instagram.

I love how Richie is comparing those two to the legendary act Sony and Cher... How corny is that??? I hope they plan on using some studio trickery because what I've seen live so far is absolutely dreadful.

The only positive is, as far as the pics and updates with the recording process, he's doing and using who I would want Jon to use...

So, does this mean we're going to get another statement from Jon saying, "The record's done..."?

I could go along with some of the explanations here that when Jon said "done" in the Q&As he could have meant that he was finished recording, or they just had to mix it or record Phil's guitar, or whatever. But I would have thought that the big announcement with a Bergman photo and everything would have meant that it was truly DONE, as in "finished".

Someday I'd really like to talk with Jon about his definition of the word "done". :D

Why does a photo of Tico in the studio indicate the album is not done though? Listening to a mix is probably more likely than adding drums that far after the fact.
