So I'm pretty happy with this outcome (as I'm sure most of us will be). It really is acting as the transition from a quartet to a trio - let's release all (some of) the stuff that we have in the vaults with Richie from the past few albums (I'm hoping HAND-WAN), and come out with a brand new album without Richie next year. The title truly reflects this, and as sad as I am that there is no Richie, I think it's the perfect thing to do.

On another note, Im happy we finally get to hear some more songs from The Circle sessions. Remember how we got zero bonus tracks except that shocking remix of Born to Follow?! Ha!

I dont want Shanks playing the lead guitar for Bon Jovi thank you.

Just audition and hire a new player!

Phil x is playing guitar on the new album according to a few music sites

What the hell does a "fan album" mean? If Matt says it's a new album and not a compilation it still might be a new album of new songs for us that were recorded earlier.

I feel strange about it. I'd prefer Burning Bridges to be a farewell album to Richie era rather than having a new Richie-less album now. On the other hand I don't want them to say goodbye, I still hope and always will do they'll get back together one day.

About the track - it's just a mixture of everything I've already heard. It starts like What's Left Of Me then there's the Nickleback "inspirarion", no solo. It has a catchy melody and it's far better than BWC. If it is really for a brand new album then I don't get why they use at least 2,5 years old song with Richie as a cowriter.

I don't think we'll hear that much difference guitar-wise on the new album. Richie's input was lesser than 15 years ago. Shanks and Bobby played parts on previous albums, so they'll do it again, only there won't be the few Richie's signature licks and that's all.

On my wishlist:
- Walk like a man
- Lonely
Never understood why they didn't make it on the (main) album, to me absolutely brilliant both

I've not been here in a very long while but it's good to come back to some actual news!

Song is pretty good for me, exactly what I've come to expect from current Bon Jovi - certainly not setting the world on fire but pleasant enough.

You can barely tell Richie is missing to be honest (only in the backing vocals and the lack of his style of solo) which says a lot about why he left the band to me - why stick around if you're barely utilised?

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE!!!

Ain't too proud to beg....

But one of the problems with them releasing it originally was that they are on different record labels and they'd have to sort that out this time.

From Facebook:

"So the new Bon Jovi album is just 2 new tracks (with guitars from producer John Shanks) and a bunch of cast-offs from the last few very average albums."
(Andrew McNeice - Melodicrock.com)

"P.s - and the leftovers tracks have Richie's parts stripped out and replaced by Shanks"
(Mitch Lafon)

(Those of you who know more than I do about the industry, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong; but if they both own the rights to songs they co-wrote, wouldn't Richie have to give permission before they could be released on the album?)

Remember I said I'd ask my cousin the songwriter/producer....

His reply:

The first time it's recorded by an artist you have to license it. After it's first formal release on that artist, anyone can record and release it there after. They must pay the publisher and writers their royalties due at the same rate that the first artist did. So, you don't need permission to record a song thats been out before. Only for the first release. Hope you're GOOD!

This says it's not clear if the album will be released in the USA.

I'm so glad you don't post very often. Why in the world would you want songs on an album that you already have?
