I imagine if anyone made an issue of it, the same thing would happen here.

I can actually imagine that happening. They opened for them in 2006. After that the band, especially Jon, went all country for Lost Highway. Around that period of time he stated a few times how he was listening to country artists etc.
Then they decided to put out a "big anthemic rock album" next. Told that story over and over prior to its release. I get the feeling that they were a bit out of touch of what was going on in the current "rock scene". They might've thought about Nickelback, said "ah they had some decent tunes" and grabbed their album. Next thing you knew - they were writing "Saturday Night Gave Me Sunday Morning" over that melody.
What's also interesting is that the bridge of this song was basically re-used in "What About Now".

Thanks for that! Pretty exciting times ahead considering how miserable the past 2 years have been in Jovi land.

That's what I keep hearing......... I have never seen or purchased Nickleback - of course I've heard them but not enough to catch anything similar. Sounds like WAN. It's growing on me a bit though. Looking forward to the 8-31 release but more so the 2016 because it will be "new" and not from another period in the band's history.

Let's wait to find out where this Nickelback producers lies with all this. This could have been a converted country song for all we know. It's not a Nickelback song lyrically, just production wise

Production wise - and the fact that the melody is almost ripped off 1:1

 Got it! Everything's clearer now: Jon released a song co-written by Richie because they say that bad things come in threes (clichés clichés clichés!) so Jon wanted Richie to be involved in a third lawsuit the same year. D'oh! :silly:

WOW! That IS a lawsuit waiting to happen! I had heard the Nickelback song, but not recently so I didn't realize just how similar they were.

I still can't imagine Jon and Richie sitting around listening to Nickelback though. LOL
