There are 4 different places to read reviews. This thread had a Vancouver link and discussion going on although the topic is about Burning Bridges. We need some order here. Or I'm just going to copy all my posts and paste them where they seem fit.

Agreed. I'm going to try and clean this all up.

The second verse creates a slow motion black&white scene in my head of Jon entering a room with the CEO's in order to discuss his/band's future.

Anyway, beautiful lyrics and real emotion from a band that I thought have lost it. But no, they can still create awesome music!

Hmm, for me it paints the picture of Jon entering a bar where he is/has been going frequently, maybe even hasn't been to for a long time, but now returns.

Also not sure if it's really about the record company. Jon just said that it's about "you broke my heart", but that could be about the Buffalo situation, Richie or other things too. He never explicitly said it was about the label...

Quick question, do we know if Jon rerecorded the vocals for the songs recently or did he sing some of them a few years ago?

I don't think we know for sure but I'd presume it would be a combination of both.

This is my most pressing question regarding the release.

If the vocals on WWYDF were laid down recently, it gives me hope he'll follow that rasp onto the new album.

I don't overly care if he can't pull it off live, the vocals on this album are good and welcome after WAN's really below par effort.

He didn't, but the way he spoke of both songs in the same breath, it suggested to me that he was saying the context for both was the same, but one represented the serious lyrical feeling about the situation and the other was literally and very directly saying, "see ya" and burning his bridges with the label. While I do really think those two songs are directed at the situation with the label, I think any of the new songs, as they pertain to taking a punch and getting back up, have to be influenced by the falling apart of all three things - his relationship with Richie, his relationship with the label, and his failed attempt to buy the Bills.

My thoughts too the first time I heard the song. The beginning really looks like a business meeting with top execs and a cocktail party to seal the deal afterwards.

Blame it on Jon who tackled 4 or 5 different topics during the same interview!

According to the song credits on the official website, recording took place at the Henson Studios in LA (where Shanks usually works) and the Avatar Studios in NYC, so I assume all the songs were recorded recently (Hugh said in an interview a few months ago that they went back to their old studio in NYC - Avatar Studios, formerly Power Station Studios).
