So you're saying that basically you can take any song of the last 4 albums and make a studio record because Jon is the singer and Shanks the producer?

I disagree with you. Have A Nice Day has a different sound than The Circle does, for example.

I'm just saying it could be. Remember Old Habits and Not Running, Every Road from What About Now special edition.

Those were bonus tracks and written by band members.

My thoughts:

We All Fall Down - The melody is nice, the lyrics make me want to drive nails into my skull. The conspiracy guy in me notices how close the melody is to What About Now, and both have "Stand up and be proud".

Who Would You Die For - Ahhhh. What the hell. This is....left field quirky.

Fingerprints - Really interesting to hear how it's almost 6 minutes. Love the time signature.

Life is Beautiful - This one seems the blandest of the new samples. Is that Dave singing with Jon again?

I'm Your Man - Mid tempo fun. That chorus will get stuck in my head. Definitely hear some Teles in there, sounds like Crush-era mixed with current radio.

Burning Bridges - THIS is the kind of stuff I was waiting for. I'm absolutely loving this one, the tip of the hat to Wanted Dead or Alive was a nice touch.

I don't know, I'm baffled. This sounds like such an un-band album. Or a mix of Jon solo and band. It's a completely new sound if it's a band album that preludes the next one. The lyrics aren't even as bad as past releases which leads me to think it really was Jon's proposed solo album with tracks like Amen and The Fighter replaced with some newer songs.

Zero uptempo rockers until a new song got added. Out of left field songs, different styles, the return of love songs. We were begging for something different and a serious change and this is it. It just wasn't the change a lot of people were expecting.

Flop or fail, this is in This Left Feels Right territory, it's going to divide a LOT of fans, and a I don't know how much the label pushed Jon into this but I'm glad they did.

I'm with you, I'm really glad we're getting this album, it sounds fresh and I can't wait to hear the songs in full. It's just so far away from what I was expecting that I really need to adjust my expectations and give it the first full listen with an open mind. I'm your Man sounds like it's coming from the same place 'I got the Girl' and 'Thief of Hearts' came from which has me really excited to hear it in full next week. Burning Bridges sounds like exactly the type of music I was listening to a LOT last year. The only thing that I could really complain about is that in 'we all fall down' Jon sounds like he's putting no effort at all into his vocal delivery. I get that these are just snippets but, he sounds so bored in what we could hear of that track. Of course that could change as most of these snippets cut off before the song is about to go somewhere.

The Boys are back in town? She don't Know Me?

She don't know me is the reason it will never happen again. Jon's made it clear. The Boys are back in town wasn't on a regular band release that came out as an album. It's happened a single time in 30+ years.

Soundtrack song. Label compromise to get deal for what was at the time a new band. Your examples don't fit, let it go and admit that you're wrong. I can sort of see what you're saying with the sound, but you're still wrong....

I was definitely expecting rockers in the album, but the album is just different. Not something I expected, but not sure whether it's good or what.

This would make half the album not using acoustic guitars (WWYDF, WDR, Teardrops, Blind Love, and possibly I'm Your Man).

We All Fall Down is quite weak in its chorus. Like Captain_jovi, sing this one with me:
WHO STAND FOR THE RESTLESS, AND THE LONELY... (in a higher key)

Who Would You Die For appears to be DA meets Crush.

I'd need a barong tagalog for Fingerprints and start waltzing my way around the room.

Not sure what to say with Life Is Beautiful. Nothing special in it.

I can live with I'm Your Man. This one's very Jon.

Burning Bridges...okay, it's probably the weirdest of the bunch. The song sounds extremely lighthearted for such a serious title. Just too much dissonance in there. Maybe an over-the-top more mature version of Love For Sale?

Take Back The Night? Speculating this is like Into The Echo.

GUYS nobody figured out what song does We All Fall Down sounds like? It's driving me crazy that I can't remember! The chorus is "SNGMSM-Gotta Be Somebody" similar.

It's bugging me too a bit, now that you mentioned it haha.

I know I'm in the minority but I do like the snippet of We All Fall Down. The lyrics are painful, but the melody and music is nice.
