I just made an edit of Burning Bridges. I looped a few verses and repeated the chorus. Nothing crazy because we'll have the album by next week or maybe even sooner but just something to enjoy! It's now 3:15
How do I share this? |

I haven't checked them against the others word for word but I think they're close. Burning Bridges (From the previous sample and this new one): … friends in hell (I assume is the end of the chorus…) Someone shut the lights off, turn the page. The stories I could write. I’ve seen a million faces and I’ve lived a couple lives Here’s our history for all to see The smiles and all the scars First the rising and the falling Call this chapter "Shooting Stars". (Must sound good from where you are!) Sayonara, adios, auf wiedersehen, farewell, Adieu, goodnight, guten abend Here’s one last one you can sell. Let’s call it “Burning Bridges” It’s a singalong as well Ciao, adieu, goodnight, guten abend Play it for your friends in hell. Ah, check the box, yeah, mark this day. There’s nothing more to say. After 30 years of loyalty, they let you dig a grave. Now, maybe you could learn to sing or even strum along I’ll give you half the publishing You’re why I wrote this song (Everybody, sing along!) Sayonara, adios, auf wiedersehen, farewell, Adieu, goodnight, guten abend Here’s one last one you can sell. Let’s call it “Burning Bridges” It’s a singalong as well Hope my money and my (mad… or mat…) I really like Burning Bridges. That right there should tell anyone who's paying attention that I don't think it's a dig at He Who Shall Remain Nameless. :) While both the 30 years and half the publishing could obviously be directed at either Richie or the label, the tongue-in-cheek FU vibe reminds me a lot of The More Things Change which was clearly a snipe at the industry, if not specifically the label. And someone asked if the sing and strum along is a dig at Richie and all I can say if it is, it's a really bad one because even on his worst day Richie out-"strums" Jon and, as far as I'm concerned, he can out-sing him any day of the week as well. (Repeat, in case someone missed it, that's MY very subjective and highly biased opinion!) Also, IIRC, Richie didn't have anything to do with this one so he wouldn't get any of the publishing nor would it be "one more [he] could sell." So my vote goes to the record label as the target for BB. |

Burning Bridges is awesome! :D:D:D
At first I thought it's against Richie as well. But a dig at the record company makes more sense. - Jon's quote, that this album is only to fullfill commitments - his quote that it ends a cycle - his very limited enthusiasm about this album - the whole metaphor of "Burning Bridges" - the line from We Don't Run "I ain't afraid of burning bridges [...] like a Phoenix from the ashes", - and the line in this songs about one more song to sell It's just shouting out that he's sick of the record label. But what makes me wonder...why the hell would a record company agree to put such a song on the album? |
Am I the only one that hears Tico's backing vocals on Burning Bridges? Or am I on drugs or something?
Can't stop listening to the snippet! |
