The only thing those two have in common is that they're slow and JBJ sings them. They can bore you, but can't really be compared as not only the lyrical content is different, but the production is too, one is an acoustic guitar driven song while the other one is mostly a piano with some violin touches here and there.

I don't like The Fighter, and I hate Old Habits, but Blind Love is an step higher tan those two IMO. You can hate them, though, it's ok :p

Rdkopper 08-10-2015 05:36 PM

I think it's unfair to compare songs. Teardrop and Blind Love...

Some are comparing them to The Fighter or Old Habits while others are comparing them to Lie To Me or Something To Believe In. I could even make a Sole Truth comparison due to the piano but every song is different and offers a different element.

If there is one thing I learned from those stupid singing competitions is that a song needs to be believable. It's more than just being able to singing it. It's putting in passion and emotion. Jon used to do that naturally and that's why he was once so flawless. He lost that with their past few releases but now he has seemed to have found something with these two songs.

In addition, they offer something much more lyrically. These songs are very well crafted lyrically! Teardrop's even got that hook. I mean come on! I'm a sucker for those hooks though.

Every album needs to be balanced and these songs are part of that balance. Maybe by themselves one could think of them as snoozefests (I don't) but as a way to balance out an album, they are needed and quite brilliant!

These songs will be spoken about years from now as being underrated.

You're all gonna laugh... or not! I've just heard a TV spot for the blu-ray edition of Fast & Furious 7 and the "who-oh-aaaah-oooooooh" are exactly the same as the ones in WDR! It was on French TV but I guess the spot is the same in every country, I did a quick YT search but couldn't find it, found trailers and extracts but no TV spot, I'll do a thorough search when I have the time, it should be on the soundtrack. But up to you now if you like hip-hop, dance music and the likes.

When I first heard We Don't Run, I knew it sounded like something I'd heard recently but could quite put my finger on it.
Like a lot of others here, first thought was Fall Out Boy's "My Songs Know..." but it still didn't seem to hit the mark.
I spent ages racking my brains as to where I had heard it, and on Friday evening it dawned on me - See You Again by Wiz Kalifa. Even had to play it in order to confirm and yet, it's almost identical to that bit.

Old Joysey 08-10-2015 08:39 PM

You got it! I've just listened to See You Again by Wiz Kalifa, that's the one I heard on TV. Now they both sound like BJ's What Do You Got as well. :-|

I didn't buy the last album as I didn't like any of the songs on it. From the 3 songs I've heard off this fab album I like them and will buy it on 21st Aug.

Could there be links to all songs from the album in one post ? Ie on the 1st page ?

For me it's the little guitar part after Jon goes "I'm, Your, Maaan!" Really looking forward to that one.

😂 and I'm being haunted by some lines of Blind Love, which I truly fear..

An Austrian newspaper writes today that BB was such a surprise that in the beginning even the record company (here = Universal Music Austria) didn't know.

JOVI7826 08-11-2015 02:06 PM

I have to agree here...I'm your man seems to have quite nice potential...I like it a lot!!!Blind Love I think...i haven't heard worst song from Bon Jovi...Old Habits and The Fighter seems better for me...I found it hard to hear the whole song...First time for me to feel this for a Bon Jovi song...And i've been listening to the band since 1988.

I think Blind Love's pretty good actually, certainly has more emotion than any recent Bon Jovi song I can think of.

I only want to hear songs in full so not bothering listening to snippets or anything.

JOVI7826 08-11-2015 02:24 PM

I don't know...Blind Love makes me want to kill my self!!!...Or get some sleep!!!

When Jon writes the best song song since It's My Life and puts it in an album that he really doesn't care for, it only shows that he doesn't have a clue when it comes to song selections.

rolo_tomachi 08-11-2015 10:41 PM

We All Fall Down could be better if Richie was doing backup vocals.

Or if he re-wrote it completely :) Melody is nice, those lyrics are dreadfuldreadfuldreadful.

JON4EVA 08-12-2015 02:09 AM

I have to say these lyric videos kind of ruin the songs - if you listen to the songs without reading them they sound wayyy better ;)

Anyway, my thoughts on the album so far - generally a very nice surprise! I'm liking the raw sound on some of the songs a lot. Not sure the title is very subtle though!

- Teardrop - was not excited about this on first listen but actually really enjoying it now, nice to have some passion in the delivery again. Is this a DA reject? Has that kind of sound.

- We don't run - Love this one - great to have a rocky sound again (in spite of some slightly Eurovisiony undertones in places)

- Saturday night - Really like this one too, good tune (again it improves if you don't read the lyrics!). Shame about the resemblance to the NB song but doubt they'll sue over it.

- Blind love - I think is quite nice, I can see why some people disagree but I think it's designed to be a deliberately simple, almost lullaby type, song

Not planning to judge the other songs until I've heard them whole but very excited to do so.

Quite like the simple design of the cover. I assume it's cos it would be too painful to cover it in pictures of just the 3 of them?

Here's to some more good music hopefully!

I was thinking exactly the opposite. Muse' lyric videos are quite distracting with ever changing visuals that can cheapen the song (the sergeant in Psycho is not exactly convincing.) So I did think they detracted from the songs.

The 3 videos for Burning Bridges with their simplicity in showing a phonograph playing takes me back to my teens where that is exactly how my music listening was done. I'd sit and listen while watching the record spin and read the lyrics on the liner sheet. It keeps the focus on the songs and the visuals in your head.

Using Desmond to write less poppy lyrics is like using paper towels to put out fire. :)

Idk what kind of bond exist between this magazine and Jon or his record company or his new manager but are they going to publish a new article every other day? I mean, a new useless article that will end with a reminder about the album-that-won't-be-promoted?

Totally agree Dave!! Me too!!

James_86 08-13-2015 12:53 AM

Just my two cents on the songs released so far..

Teardrop: Love it, slow burner with a These Days era mood.

We Don't Run: Refreshing, hopefully points to the direction the band may head.

Saturday Night: Catchy as hell. A little by numbers but likeable.

Blind Love: It's a sweet song, has meaning. Reminds me of Bed Of Roses for some reason.

Of the samples of the remaning songs only Fingerprints seemed to strike a chord. Looking forward to the 21st. Although, Amazon have made the album unavailble again :/

Yes, I believe it's I'm Your Man and it's supposed to be Friday but we get them on Thursdays instead. Maybe due to time differences...

New Song

Apparently Hugh gave an interview where he said that Jon Bon Jovi recorded a new song.
Called "Rage of Angels" and was composed by him and Desmond Child.

Yep, that lines up with what we saw on ASCAP. It was registered so fast.

Maybe "Rage of Angels" could sound in the event on Friday? or Some advances of New Album 2016?

Alphavictim 08-13-2015 01:05 PM

Why would that be? The event is supposed to promote Burning Bridges, not the next album.

I wonder if it's another old unfinished song... I remember the TV series, Jacklyn Smith was hot in the 80s. ;)

Why do you post unrelated shit (yes, exactly what this is 'shit')?

One has absolutely nothing to do with the other...

Haha! It hasn't been released just yet. Should be soonish.

I do have extended previews of each song though. Will see if I can get them uploaded.

We All Fall Down sounds cheesier than the original sample clip. It's the backing vocals at the end of the chorus.

Oh!! It would be amazing! Thanks for the effort man!

And I really don't know...what did you meant with "cheesier"? Is it good or bad?
