Waiting for the full version. |
THIS. This is good stuff. Rocking piano, uptempto, nice.
|
It's just okay for me. If it would fit onto WAN, then I lose excitement.

Look at this thread! It's been a while since it's been this much enthusiasm on this board :)

I never thought that I would feel this again for a bon jovi upcoming album. But there’s a lot of interesting things on this…and I’m completely in love with Who would you die for. |
who is singing backing vocals to Jon, seems quite a lot? Richie?

excited as well...!!!

Just bought I'm your man on amazon.fr. As somebody said, sounds ok but not great by any way. Much rawer and rockier than what was delivered on WAN though.

We don't know the situation with the label, whether Jon decided not to renew with them or they decided not to renew with him. He first expressed dissatisfaction with them about Destination Anywhere. They said in Billboard that they were going to make Destination Anywhere their top priority (I posted the article last summer). But MMMbop from Hanson came along and they went all teeny-bopper. Then when the label was taken over by Universal they stuck him on the Def Jam group which was hardly the home for a ROCK band. Waiting for the dust to settle on that move was one of the many reasons that there was such a long break between These Days and Crush.
This sort of makes those meetings he's had with other artists lately interesting, doesn't it? I wonder if he's planning to release the album in a different way or on a traditional label at all? |
Just listened to 'Im Your Man'
It's good. Definitely not great but I like it. The beat/riff whatever you want to call it is superb, though. Really like the sound of it. A song I'll definitely listen too and enjoy when I hear it. Isn't the best so far but isn't the worst. |

It's not pointless. It's history. Jon rarely talks about behind the scenes stuff about the business end. So to pinpoint that he's been unhappy with the label as far back as 1997 it makes you wonder what he's been unhappy with them about since then that he hasn't talked about. We know that he had to do the GH to be able to go out on his whim to do Lost Highway, so there's the creative control issue.
He's talked before about the label telling him, "We don't hear a hit" (like with Keep the Faith). How much of the paint by numbers singles like WWBTF" and "Because We Can" and "What About Now" are what the record company is telling him they want from him? Just how DIFFERENT is the next album going to be if he's got control? |
Sorry guys, it was 12:30am and it still wasn't released... I fell asleep! lol. I'm actually in Perth so i'm 2 hours behind the east coast, hence me 'getting up late' :P
I know it's on spotify but here it is anyway (it's my one from iTunes) so hopefully it works for you all... I'm Your Man I'm Your Man When your heart is hungry, When you wanna see if you can keep, You know thatyou can call me, Anytime for anything you need, No one asking questions, No need for alibis, No need for wasting words, I'm who I am, I'm your man, No job that I can't handle, There ain't much that I ain't done, I'll be that one call that you get, When you can't call no one, When the room is dark and empty, There's no need to explain, Baby I'll come running, here I am, I'm your man, We know not to ask questions, So no one has to lie, We both know without hello, There won't be no goodbyes, No promises that we won't keep, No more to understand, Tonight you're my woman and I'm your man, I'm your man, We both know we're lonely, When we hold each other tight, We wont ask forgiveness, When we walk away tonight, No one asking questions, No need for alibis, No need to say those words, Just take my hand, I'm your man, |

Thanks for the lyrics (I can't listen to the song). |
It's definitely catchy and feels like an old style Jovi song. The vocals were mostly fine also.
I didn't like last week's songs but this is cool. |
Really like Who Would You Die For - it's very sensual sounding. Vocals are sounding great across the album and I hope it's from rest/vocal exercise and not just a mixing board at play. Wonder if they will bring any of these live on the mini tour? Sure PhilX could learn them - he seemed to pick up a lot of the catalogue last year with little notice. I'm very tactile and I'm so ready to get the CD in my hand and in my car....... Downloads just aren't the same. Did anyone ever find a source for the vinyl?
I wouldn't be surprised if there isn't something in somewhere - We Don't Run or Burning Bridges that "fits" RS situation but don't think Jon is so crass as to do an entire song. The label is the motivation BUT am I the only one who read/heard "After the 30 years of loyalty, they let you dig the grave" have a flash back of the Nikki/RS going to dig a grave in the desert? Smile! |
I created a new thread where we can post all the lyrics: the real ones + the ones we hear. I'll keep updating the first 2 posts with new links and official vids.
http://www.drycounty.com/jovitalk/ne...2/#post1191856 I need volunteers to write down the lyrics from the official videos! :) Quote:

Who would you die for is the stand out to me.
Burning Bridges I would bet money is about Richie. |

Is it just me?
I really didn't like "Who would you die for?" when the first snippet was released, but listening to the new one I am really surprised, I love the song. Now, you might call me crazy, but does anybody else feel that Gilmour vibe during the solo?, the way it is played, the sound... I don't know, I kind of remember him...
|
I'm your Man has such a groove and swager about it. I'm digging it, sounds like something that could have fit on the same Sex Sells sessions that gave us 'Hush', 'Ain't no cure for love' and 'I could make a living out of loving you'. Not the best song thus far but a really pleasing one, could be a great live song if they ever bother to work these songs live....

Savvi, I think the second line is "When you want a secret you can keep". (And I'm pretty sure that in the third verse it's "Tonight you're my baby and I'm your man" but I could be wrong... possibly... okay, it's highly probable...:p) Thanks, everybody, for all the lyrics. I'm afraid I wasn't able to help much today, but I'll try to be around more next week! |
I'm your man isn't on UK iTunes yet???

Updated ratings
9 - WDR 8 - Teardrop 7 - SNGMSM 6 - Blind Love 5 - I'm Your Man - Bit better than I thought from snippet its ok but worst of the released songs so far. of the extended snippets: WWYDF is heading for at least an 8 Fingerprints and LIB are probably going to be a 7.5 WAFD probably a 7 and Burning Bridges is a good singalong and better than first thought but not Bon Jovi so probably a 5 Really looking forward to album now and hearing all songs in full after being a bit hesitant 24 hours ago |
The backing vocals to I'm Your Man sounds like Richie to me. Anybody else hears it?

im your man is now on Itunes uk.

I'm Your Man is together with We Don't Run and Blind Love the weakest of the bunch.

Does anyone know when the physical cd will be available for pre-order? Its currently unavailable on Amazon.
|
It's quite fascinating reading this thread, skipping some bits so as not spoil it too much, when I haven't listened to any of the samples or songs, and won't until I receive the CD. It makes a nice change to see enthusiastic chat about an upcoming album rather than negativity which seems to have surrounded the past few.
RE the label v BJ - wouldn't surprise if it is about the label BUT all contrived by the two parties involved as a way to garner interest from fans and get a bit of buzz about the album. Job done it seems. |
Does anyone know what other albums are out the same week as 'Burning Bridges?' - Not expecting this to go to number 1 but it'd be interesting to see what/who they are up against.
