Hehe close enough :)

Here in Argentina the thing was shameful, the label only said on Facebook almost 13:00 of yesterday "hey, the new album by Bon Jovi is out now", using the "We Don't Run" single cover. That's not the worse, but they didn't even send copies to the press, radios, nor stores (stores didn't even knew that there was a new Bon Jovi album on the way).

Bon Jovi usually sells a lot here in Argentina, it is a shame.

Old Joysey 08-22-2015 07:24 PM

dunno if it has been posted before, too many pages to check!

This is at least weird because Phil X said a few days ago that he is going to play on the 2016 Bon Jovi album.

Well, Phil said something like that played some things, but he's not sure how much placed on the record. Will definitely have several guitars. If Jon leaves the cheesy songs off the album, I could be happy despite everything.

Becky 08-22-2015 09:36 PM

I went somewhere with my brother this morning and took along Burning Bridges. He's a country fan so I wasn't sure he would agree to listen to it, but he did. When he heard the song Burning Bridges, he asked, "Is that about their record company? Why did they let them record it since he's telling them to go to hell?" Even HE immediately got it and he doesn't give a crap one way or the other. I don't talk about Bon Jovi to him so he didn't know. The funny thing to me was, the second time the song played, he was tapping his hand along with the rhythm like he was really enjoying it. :)

ezearis 08-22-2015 09:50 PM

This website already referes to Mercury Records as "their former record company".

Quote:

So, who are they referring to in their new album? In a report by Ultimate Classic Rock, the band is pertaining to their former record company, Mercury Records.

Universal is the parent company, the other ones are labels inside Universal.

Five things we learned from chatting with Jon Bon Jovi in Vancouver

Link includes video of interview with Jon:
http://www.vancouversun.com/touch/st...medium=twitter

''4. Bon Jovi’s new album Burning Bridges is about the end of an era.

Burning Bridges, released Friday, is admittedly about the end of Bon Jovi’s relationship with longtime label Mercury Records. The album features only one song co-written with former guitarist Richie Sambora (Saturday Night Gave Me Sunday Morning). Sambora is no longer a member of the band and will not re-join for forthcoming band tours, Bon Jovi told the media Saturday.

Bon Jovi also admitted Burning Bridges is just a stepping stone to another band album coming out in 2016.

“I had a fulfilment to the label and we were going off to Southeast Asia. So I thought, ‘This is great.’ It’s songs I like but aren’t my next album. So these are good songs that wouldn’t have made the record and a couple that are ending the era. A Teardrop To The Sea is the serious lyrical content of ‘you broke my heart,’ and Burning Bridges is just what it says it is.”

What label are they releasing the 2016 album on?

I have a question...

Who's singing backing vocals on 'Sunday Morning', 'Life is beautiful' and 'I'm your man'?

It really sounds like Richie. If it's David, it's doing a pretty good job "emulating him", especially in 'Life is beautiful'.

Cheers.

Old Joysey 08-23-2015 05:47 AM

Another Vancouver interview on video.
About the Paper Rain mess and aftermath, BB, the 2016 album, Richie, touring, etc...

It's definitely Dave. If you saw them live on the Because We Can tour, you would have heard his backing vocals more prominently than on past tours.

I've seen posts from Virgin EMI promoting Burning Bridges, although I think the album has some different promoters in different territories but I did find it weird, maybe they are a possibility.

This would explain it: "Mercury Records UK, which traditionally released International Island and Def Jam artists in the UK will now operate as an imprint under Virgin EMI".

Near the end of the radio interview, Jon says "the Kings don't know, the band will."

This implies that the band are going to play tracks from BB in the Asia tour.

in what sense? good or bad?

Alphavictim 08-23-2015 04:14 PM

By the way... We All Fall Down. I think Captain Jovi said it reminded him of another song, and not WAN, but a really popular one. Well - Wrecking Ball by Miley Cyrus? It was mentioned in the German Bild review linked in the review thread, and I kinda agree that it does sound similar.

All good rolo, just when he says about him being "lucky" to call Richie a friend (or something like that) I dunno as a fan it just makes me a bit sad... Hey ho I guess I'm just being a soft lad and nostalgic

Virgin is UMG. Different countries, different labels but the same Mothership. I'll use the metaphor again: think of UMG as an octopus.

http://www.universalmusic.com/labels/

You can't bite the hand that feeds, they're through with UMG, turn the page.
I think the new "label" is the Azof/Nolan one, cf the Forbes article posted by JackieBlue a few day ago. The indie route is too poor and powerless for a big international act like BJ.

Cheers, I missed that, so many under the same umbrella. I assume they have something lined up for the next album, given the touring income I doubt they'd be too short of offers
