Thoughts on 'Breathe'
I've always thought Breathe was a good song, but I was going back through the box set recently and listened to it again for the first time in a while. It really hit me hard.
It might be my favorite demo from Bounce and I feel as though it definitely should have made the album. Thoughts? Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk |
Liked it, felt most of the other Bounce B-sides were better but never grabbed me as extra special.

It's a cool demo, but my favorite Bunce b-side is probably Another Reason To Believe or We Can Dance.

Breathe is good, but We Can Dance always stood out to me as the strongest Bounce demo track. There's something about it, the feel, it feels very "real" unlike some of Bon Jovis post-2000 material.
Also curious if we ever get to hear the full Mona Lisa. By the short snippet of it, it seemed to have a great chorus that could work on Bounce. And while talking Bounce demos, Lucky is probably one of the worst tracks recorded by Bon Jovi. Just pure crap in my book. |
Lucky and Alive suck, the rest of the demos are pretty neat.

I also love the Bounce era demos, they could make a great album!
Instead of the record company veto, I think there is one other reason they didn't make the final album cut: Some of them are similar to other songs, giving some examples, Standing vs Dig In - Lenny Kravitz Another Reason To Believe vs Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker) - The Rolling Stones (verses) (taken from Supersonic's thread) Do you think this could be a reason? Besides this era's demos, other "too inspired by already published" songs had the same destiny, check Put the boy back in cowboy (Fat bottomed girls)... |

My favorite Bounce demo is Mona Lisa

"Breathe" and "We Can Dance" always sounded the most honest and real songs from the Bounce era. "Breathe" I liked as soon as I heard it, but "We Can Dance" took a few years to grow on me. Most of the other leftovers from that album are great too but yea, "Lucky" was crap.
