I've been listening to an artist named Johnny Lima a lot in the past couple of months. Some of you know probably know him, he's a great singer/songwriter with a very similar style and voice as JBJ used to have especially in the 80s and 90s.

That said, the guy flat out copies quite many things (and occasionally even complete songs) from Jon EXTREMELY blatantly. For example, this song is so close to Bang A Drum that I honestly think, if Lima were any more famous, he probably would've ended up in the court because of it:

Hallelujah (What's It to Ya?) - YouTube

Oh boy, that really does sound A LOT like Bang A Drum 😅

If that guy were more famous, I could certainly see him ending up in court because of this.

Although I'm not sure if Jon would care enough to sue, since Bang A Drum isn't exactly a super well-known hit song and Jon himself probably doesn't spend much time thinking about that song either.

There's a guy in Argentina who copies Bon Jovi/Jon quite a lot, but I forget his name. Some of his songs are very similar.

JBJ:Every kid dreams of hearing his song on the radio… in 1983 I took it to another level by taking Runaway to a radio station. It was a brand new station located just outside of New York City called WAPP… they were so new they didn’t have a receptionist to stop me from getting the attention of DJ Chip Hobart. I hung around after his shift to tell him my story. We played the song, Chip said the song sounded like a hit and committed to getting Runaway on the radio… he did…

I’ve thanked him a thousand times for that day. This week I reached out to my old friend to ask him to play Runaway on a very special project we’ve been working on. I found out that Chip Hobart had passed away in March... thank you my friend, for the 1001st time.

We’ll dedicate the first spin to him.
Love to his family.
