No, there's just a huge difference between a contract not to talk and not wanting to tell a story that the band wouldn't want him telling. You're over exaggerating like crazy.

Phil X: We’ll let’s see … NO! (Laughs). There’s lots of funny moments, but probably don’t want them out.

Yes, I see that; but that's the reporter's vague comment.

You’d think that would mean Phil was pretty much a full time member of the band and in 2016, Jon agreed and Phil became an official member along with bass guitarist Hugh McDonald. Phil’s first full release with the band is on latest album “This House Is Not for Sale”.
My question stands: Has there been an official statement from JBJ or BJM announcing that Phil-X (and Hugh) are now "official" members? What I remember is an interview with Phil where he was asked if he was officially a member and he replied "well, Jon's nodding at me so I guess the answer is 'yes'." (paraphrased from memory). That seems like an awfully informal, almost impulsive, way to a) inform Phil that he's an official member and, 2) to announce to the public that, for the first time in the band's history, a new "official" member has been added to replace one of the 5 founding members.

Beyond that, all I can remember is one of the promos, also in 2016, when Jon was asked how many official members are currently in the band and he said, "One: Me." Then he chuckled and said, "Three: me, Tico, and Dave."

I guess I’m the crazy here just for have a wonderful memory...
JBJ said something like: “One
you're looking out it
myself”

Doesn't the fact that both Phil and Hugh are listed on the official Bon Jovi FB page makes it very much official? Neither Hugh or Phil was listed prior to 2016 and if they included tour members both Shanks and Everett should be listed to.

We need more than that!

Here is my take....

I think there is a difference between Bon Jovi Official Band Members and Official Members Of Bon Jovi The Corporation.

Both Phil and Huge probably have long term contracts while the other members like Everette don't... Shanks is really the Producer who begged Jon to tour. If Bob Rock joined the KTF tour, I wouldn't expect to see his name added either...

The face of Bon Jovi as a band are all 5 long term contracted members so I get why they are on the tee-shirts, videos, and the official Bon Jovi webpage...

I think if you ask Jon, I believe he's still loyal to the other two original members who left and considers only him, Dave, and Tico Bon Jovi band members...

Obviously he's loyal to David and Tico because they are original members but I don't see what has to do with bringing in new members? All members of Bon Jovi except Jon has simply been part of what you call "Official Members Of Bon Jovi The Corporation" as none of them have been on the contract. In that case Kiss is only a two-piece band because Eric Singer and Tommy Thayer are only hired hands and neither original members or part of the Kiss contract.

Of course I get what you mean that it differs to be a member "spiritually" like David and Tico unlike Phil. But at the end of the day both David and Phil are equals when it comes to their working title - employed musicans to Jon, the only thing that differs are their paycheck and number of years in the band.
