I'm not kidding, it really is awful for then standards. Jon sounds painfully whiny (+ pretty much for the first time ever makes those pained faces we're seeing on every song nowadays), falls flat on many of the high notes and runs completely out of gas during the last chorus.

Jon's had off-nights in his prime as well, they're just not all so spread across Youtube like the ones he had in 2010/11.
On the New Jersey tour, he had problems at the end of 1988 and then again around the time they played South America in 1990. People remember 1993 as his prime year, but after April/May, his voice went south for then-standards. He couldn't reach his level in the summer of 1993 again and I Believe from Prague shows that quite well.
Same goes for 1995: There's a reason why the second half of Wembley was almost completely omitted. It was too much to patch it up when listening to the unedited radio broadcast. In Quito (a few days before this Lie To Me performance) he clearly wasn't well and completely ran out of steam at the end of Always.
What I'm saying is that Jon's always had these fluctuations, like most other singers as well. It's just that in the older days the good performances outweighed the weaker ones so much that they are rather forgotten.

Just listened to Burning Bridges and This House (with new solo 3s) and Bring Bridges is still my favorite post 2000 album. Teardrop is absolutely brilliant. Such a waste that the song fell by the waist side... You can totally tell that WDR was sung slower and sped up and probably the real reason for the remaster.

I found This House very enjoyable... When I first heard the album I over liked it to the point of not wanting to listen to it for a while... Now that I put it away for a while, it sounded fresh (I'm sure the solos helped) and I really liked most of the songs...

When I listen to Blaze and DA, I listen differently because they are solo... I do the same with BB and This House... Although not entirely solo, not entirely the band either... I listen to them without comparison to anything in the past...

After BB and THINFS... JBJ has said he’s done with the Richie and record company subjects, that there’s nothing else to say about it.

WDR was a new song at that time (no like some others on BB that were old songs) and that one always was presented like “to where we're going musically” so I wasn’t surprised when I saw We Don’t Run again in THINFS after the BB version (I like more the BB version...). Then JBJ said “This one was tecnically on Burning Bridges but we wanted to including as a bonus track on This House Is Not For Sale” ...because he thought it was a very good song and because that “We” of WDR also represents Dave and Tico who stand behind him, gave him a shoulder to lean on, etc.

I definitely like more BB than THINFS, it’s going to be interesting to see what’s the subject of the new album, of course there’s always going to be “the upbeat optimistic anthem telling that you could do it too!” song, and that’s okay... but I want more than that and something very different to THINFS musically ‘cause that album is only stories to me.

I wish they did a cover of "All Along The Watchtower" the way they did in the "Richie, play me some polka" but in a concert and full.

I like both BB and THINFS. There are a couple songs that I kinda tune out; but I don't dislike any of them enough to actually skip them.

It will be interesting to see what Jon comes up with next. I vote for more songs like the ones he does in the RT shows. They suit him better and he seems to enjoy them more; or it could be that he's just more comfortable in that setting. But I guess those songs wouldn't work as well in stadiums.

I wonder how well it would go over if he did a full tour of smaller venues - with the band, not as JBJ - without the big production.

One can only dream...

I hope that applies to his interviews, as well; because "nothing else to say" hasn't stopped him so far. Maybe new material will give him something new to talk about.

I like BB but i would have put more songs on the album…. anyway, BB was only an contractual obligation with the label .

The only thing…. i wonder why in BB there are no Have A Nice Day, Bounce , Crush etc... outtakes ,there are only outtakes from 2006 up to 2013 or so…..

Blind Love is rumoured to have been from the HAND sessions. Plus it's not entirely clear where all songs were from. Actually, it's only known on like 3 or 4 tracks for sure.

6.Who Would You Die For (TC)
7.Fingerprints (WAN)

Have these been confirmed at some point or were just wild guesses on your side?
