The worst BJ concert ever
The choice is easy for me. Brisbane 2013:
https://youtu.be/YphfNmUWIWw https://youtu.be/XpZP5Js-D3I Listening to these two renditions is a painful experience - literally. However, no sightings of autotune here - but I think it would have improved the results quite a bit. |
Painful, indeed! Makes you wonder: if he had a tough day, why would he choose a difficult song like Always to be in the tracklist?
|
The all round performances were pretty bad too. Tico was messing up on fills and Phil's playing just doesn't quite cut it.
|
That breaks my heart....
Not as bad but pretty awful nonetheless Painful....he sounds like a hurting cat. I was there and I thought it was the worst BJ show I have ever been to and by far the worst show I have ever attended for that amount of money. 100 bucks for listening to that....I wanted my money back after that show. |
Maybe someone here also remember that last-minute added Hull show in June 2006 that ended the HAND tour? Not to pretty that one either...

Is this show? I'm not sure, but they had bad psychology because of Richie dad's health. Jon's voice is okay, but there is no energy in them. They just played the songs. ------------- Yerterday I was watching a video named "The top 10 worst moments of Guns 'n' Roses" and it was in fact Axl getting angry and out of control all the time. There are similar videos for other artists, too. I am happy that the worst Bon Jovi moments include only Jon's bad voice or bad mood like the Hull show (and I can't blame them for something like that, someone else would have cancelled the show) or technical difficulties. It's another minor reason that I love Bon Jovi. |
It has to be one of the 2015 shows.
With trajectory of Jon's voice since 2013 it seems like every show they perform will be worse than the one before, which will be worse than the one before, etc. Perhaps not on a gig-by-gig basis, but month-by-month, for sure. For example, I remember so many people here complaining about Giants night 4 (in 2010, the one where Jon blew his knee) and rightfully so, but despite the obvious flaws I'd still much rather go that show that one from the upcoming tour, because at least Jon sounded decent hitting the higher notes. And the same can be said about Hull 2006 or one of the other poorly-received shows; all of them are still going to sound better than whatever upcoming shows. |
Yeah Hull 2006 and that insipid Prayer performance and the "I gotta do this one more ****ing time" has been the benchmark for a while. But some of the recent shows with Jon's appalling voice and no Richie have probably surpassed it. 2013 tour wasn't a patch on previous tours, but being there was still passable. Some of those Asian tour vids which Jon's voice totally gone would not be enjoyable at all and I really would think twice before paying good money to see them in that state.

Those 2013 videos (especially the Brisbane ones) are horrible. Here's another painful 2013 performance from Brisbane:
Out of key throughout, no power, nasally whine, no singing technique whatsoever. I had to listen to this one to clean my ears out: Now - that's how to do it! |
Up until 2011 I probably would've gone with Dusseldorf or the State College show of that year.
But when comparing them to what followed afterwards, they actually weren't THAT bad. I didn't follow the band much from mid-2013 onwards, but Brisbane might take top spot here - along with some of the dreadful 2015 performances. |
