What makes it all the more strange is the key was dropped a bit so they can do THINFS live and it put it right into God Bless This Mess territory chord wise. It may help their case when they sound different on the album.

Blind Love has to be the early version of Real Love, way too similar. I don't agree with the comparisons between The Distance and Love Me Back To Life however. They couldn't be more different if they tried.

On the subject of inspiration for the new songs, I've seen a few posts mention that the issues with Jon's daughter hasn't inspired one or two. I have a hunch I Will Drive You Home may address that.

Agree to disagree I guess. Both in Drop D, both with similar chord structure, the riffs are so similar.

The breakdown after the second chorus also. Whenever people can't hear the similarities between those songs or between IML and Bounce I feel like Mugatu at the end of the first Zoolander, "It's the same look!! Doesn't anyone see that!? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills!!"

Indeed.

The Distance is the best song on Bounce IMO. Should still be a live staple.

On the new songs, I absolutely adore Scars. Anybody else getting a Bitter Wine vibe from it?

I am big time. When Jon said TD meets HAND I think Scars and Labor of Love had a lot to do with that comparison. Maybe the Come on up to our house melody too.

Certainly those two have a These Days feeling and given that it's my favourite album of all time, that sentiment sits very well.

I've only listened to Come On Up To Our House once so far so unfortunately can't comment on that one.

Really hopeful this is going to be a solid album. I especially love New Years Day and Scars On This Guitar.

Really want to hear the preview snippets.

I think they (Jon) made a great decision in playing full album before a release.

1. it brings anticipation
2. storytelling approach makes people more interested in songs and they can understand them better
3. along with no2. it gets the fans to connect to the songs better (relate to them).

That's why we all like most of the songs. Hell, I do.. I think the House might be like in the bottom of my list - and I like it.

My favs are:
- Devil's in the temple
- Born again tomorrow
- Scars on this guitar
- Knockout
- Labor of love
- Rollercoaster
- New years day
- God bless this mess
- Living with a ghost

Which is 9 songs!

Last time I liked 9 songs from the album was Bounce (Undivided, Distance, Missunderstod, Joey, All about loving you, Right side of wrong, Love me back to life, You had me from hello, Bounce)

Notice how 1st singles (House, Everyday) are not on those lists.

Jon is really terrible in choosing singles. Imagine if BAT, Scars, Devil and Mess/Ghost where the singles on THINFS! :D

9 songs from 18 ;) I get what you're saying though and the only ones I'm struggling with are All Hail The King, God Bless This Mess and New Year's Day. I was non-plussed by Born Again Tomorrow, but the studio version is top draw stuff compared to the generic live version....

Yes, they are very similar songs, musically speaking.
