I knew that as soon as the snippets came out, everyone was going to have a problem with them... It's the same conversation with every album... It's a low quality MP3 sample of the song and to make things worse, everyone has something to compare them to...

Now, everyone is used to the live versions and anything that doesn't have that same vibe, is a problem...

Just wait to you hear the entire song from start to finish in HQ/FLAC before making your final judgement... Everyone wanted Jon to retire when Knockout was released now everyone loves it along with all the other songs... You guys gotta give shit a chance...

I'd tend to agree if the snippets were the usual 30 seconds AND we didn't already know the direction the songs were going in due to the live versions.

But snippets at 1m 30s which include 2 chorus' (Roller Coaster) can surely be judged fairly accurately?

I stand corrected on I Will Drive You Home - I heard a 30s clip and dismissed it as filler. The longer snippet on iTunes reveals it to be far better. (But again, I had no idea of the direction the song would take as there is no live version)

Shanks even tries to look like The Edge, I wonder when Bono is going to show up.

I think the only thing that really bugs me about Roller Coaster is that "close your eyyyyeeeees" in the chorus (the hight part of "eyes"). Ok, it sounds like Jon would do it live nowadays, and therefor pretty natural, but surely he could've done better in the studio.

Other than that, the backing vocals could be a little higher in the mix, but that doesn't ruin the song for me.

It doesn't sound too bad on the longer snippet. Plus, it's only because we know the state of Jon's voice that we can see this one as being quite doctored. Sound wise, it would be fine for a single and the casual radio listener would be none the wiser.

But either way, we have soundboard live versions and will have studio versions so you can switch between whatever ones you prefer.

His part before the solo in DITT is very much Love Is Blindness. Coincidence? I think not.

Yeah that part is annoying. The chorus vocal sounds so thin, it needs padding out. Why not get Dave to sing harmonies or double track Jon to thicken it up a bit.

When I hear Roller Coaster's chorus, I can't help but think of that voice Jon has when he sings Bad Medicine live, the "yours kiss is the drug" line....:bang:

Yeah that is true - I played it to someone without them knowing it was Jon and they couldn't hear a problem in the vocal - only when I told them it was JBJ did they understand why I thought it sounded so different.

I'm gutted that they've redone WDR and not included 'there's fire in the sky, thunder on the mountainssss, LOOK OUTTT'

I love that live!
