Because of your comments Im pretty sure this is going to be,for me,the best BJ album since TDays
Cant wait to hear Devils in the temple,Living with the ghost and Scars, the 3 ones I think are the best because of your posts.

Listening to "Rollercoaster" again. Its production vocals-wise is similar to Labor of Love and Scars on this Guitar: no additional rasp meaning his upper range is completely exposed. To hide that, it was sped up, giving it an EDM-ish vibe contrasting to what the song is live - a HAND-like track.

Is it too early to play the swapping game??? Which songs you'd replace from THINFS with Burning Bridges tracks to make the ultimate album... That might need its own thread...

I'm missing the connection between NYD and The Play story between Sting and David... why was Jon inspired to write this from a play??? Lyrically it doesn't fit

Yeah, too early. BB has had plenty of time to be digested, whereas we haven't even heard THINFS in full yet, never mind fully sunk in. At this point, I wouldn't even want to switch anything except for Blind Love with Real Love and maybe All Hail, both aren't even official album tracks.

I think there were two reasons for Jon to bring up Sting's play:

For an excuse to bring up David's Tony Award and Memphis - which is a nice little gesture.

But I think the primary reason is that he felt moved by the passion that Sting had for his play - which encouraged Jon to see the beauty in having the 3 guys (4 including Shanks) formulating a song in the studio together - the way they used to. I think he's drawing a parallel between Sting's hard work and attachment to his play, and the band's renewed passion for the craft of writing and recording together. At least I hope that's what going on in the BJ machine!

I think your exactly right, these past years gave him a chance to see things and people that inspired him to write again, and to work together as a band.I think John Shanks was the one that put it all together in the studio, as Jon said in the last show, he called him his "shrink" for a reason.

I listened to all the iTunes snippets through my car stereo last night - until then it had been via my iPhone or iPad. (with and without headphones)

Big difference. The songs do indeed sound fuller - the bass and drums on The Devil's In The Temple sounded immense.

Rollercoaster's weak vocals on the chorus were not as apparent as the music comes alive through a decent speaker system. They're obviously still the same vocals, but there's enough energy to the music to carry them, if that makes sense.

Sounds an obvious thing to say, but how you listen to the songs does shape your opinions of them. A subtle instrument heard via your phone, for example, can suddenly come alive through better speakers and really add something to a song.

I love that part from 2:50 so much, I think that sums up how Jon felt these last 3 years.

I love living with the ghost but don't understand the lyric - I found the tree I cut the rope - what does it mean? Any ideas??
