I watched the THINFS video when it was released, but I haven't listened to Knockout yet. Can't say I won't cave, but at this time, I think I want to just wait and listen to the whole album straight through on release day.

Which song do you think could be the third single ?
In my opinion it could be Scars on this guitar or maybe God BlessThis Mess

I'm expecting an album with some good songs, some filler and a few gems.

I wonder what Bruce Fairbairn and Bob Rock could have got out of Bon Jovi over the past 16years and what Shanks' production would have done to the 80's or 90's Jovi?

Looks like the Target version is the same as the Japanese version, 18 tracks.
Dang, I just spent all of that money for the Japanese version and for a DVD that isn't even the correct region for the US. Should've waited haha.

To be honest it doesn't matter if Bob Rock returned, it doesn't mask Jon's declining vocals. What could another producer do differently to John Shanks? Change the production? Perhaps? But again the producers fit arounds Jon's worsening vocals, no new producer is going to mask Jon's bad voice. Hence the John Shanks production we get.

Really? If you took Jon's voice out of WAN, for example, you don't think Bruce Fairbairn and Bob Rock could have produced and mixed a better sounding album?

We have to accept Jon as we have him. Would their production be different Today? I don't know? Remember this isn't the Jon, Bob Rock worked with.

My view is the production may change if Jon loses John Shanks, but not by much. Why his Voice, is the main reason. If his voice was in better shape perhaps we would have better production, like a HAND Album at best!

I love Bon Jovi, but for worse we have the production we have due to his voice and age.

That would be at least another phil x track, and One of those for which he wrote the guitar parts (If i got that right).
Granted though that its Not a very long Song, so It's very unlikely We will See a long, epic Kind of solo.

I agree regarding the voice. Personally, Jon generally doesn't sound too bad on albums. (granted, there are some songs or lines which are not his best delivery) I don't really know if any other producer could help him or disguise it better than Shanks does.

It's all guesswork but I feel Shanks is a safety net for Jon. And people often lose passion when they are content. Shanks may well be simply doing as his employer asks. Or he may be guiding and advising the band more than we know.

How many times have we heard a BJ song/album over the past decade and thought, "it's decent, I quite like that part but why no solo, why bury the guitars, why no extended outros etc? I have on every release.

Is Shanks the problem? I hear lots of songs with potential that never quite fulfil it. Isn't the sign of a good producer someone who brings out the best in an artist, who has ideas and suggestions that enhance a song? Going off past history, I'd say Fairbairn and Rock are more likely to do that with a band like Jovi than Shanks.
