It doesn't. A b section with a lick does not a solo make. Not that every song needs a solo, and this certainly sounds alright without it.

Ok so tomorrow jon is going to do a Q&A live on facebook, i dare and challenge anyone hear to go on live and ask jon about why his voice "sucks, bad, terrible" or why he doesn't perform like he use to, i dare anyone hear to do this and see what his response will be to you. U have nothing to lose since your so willing to critique him here now is your chance to say how you really feeling live in person through FB, good luck ;)

I'm off from work tomorrow so I could ask him about his voice and what he's doing to get better. But why would you word it like that?! Being disrespectful to the guy will only get you banned....

I'm actually really liking it. It's no masterpiece, and Jon's voice sounds really thin in the verses, but overall it's super catchy and the delivery of the chorus is fun and edgy. The lyrics are same old but hey, they've been doing this since the beginning.

I like the modern rock/pop/electronic style they're going with (ala We Don't Run). I understand that's not everyone's cup of tea though. Hopefully there are tracks similar to this but with more guitars and depth.

As for production, it's not THAT bad. It's not a wall of noise that we heard a lot of in WAN.

I like this more than THINFS.

It's actually Not that "wall-of-soundy" as many might think. According to the soundwaves It's way less compressed than much of the recent stuff.

And the Song actually grew on me a little. Still no Song i really like, but i'm okay with it and See why this is coming out right now. Would have preferred "takr back the night" for this Spot, but as this Sounds very much like swedish house Mafia i can understand that they decided to do it that way round.

On an slightly off topic note, who is in charge of the band's graphics/visual effects!? The tree "growing" and stretching in THINFS clip was POORLY executed and the album/single videos they're posting on facebook is actually cringeworthy.

https://www.facebook.com/BonJovi/vid...3648926007000/

Those sound effects, the timings, the cliche lens flare... It feels like something out of a student's high school project from 10 years ago. Maybe it's because of the field I work in, but even I could do better.

My point is that since people here are willing to act disrespectful to Jon here, especially on describing his voice figure why not tell him to his face, ok not literally, but you get my point.

Javier 09-09-2016 03:49 AM

Sorry, I misread your post. I originally understood that you were referring to what you were gonna do tomorrow and ask him in that way. I need to read more carefully....

It's been many posts back that someone mentioned someone who works with Coldplay worked on this album. I definitely got a Coldplay vibe from Knockout, not in a ripping them off sense but just in a you can hear the influence way. BTW I don't like Coldplay. I think all their songs (I've heard) sound the same.

Reading this...

...does anybody else think that there is really strange stuff going on? The Bon Jovi website is full of the THINFS single and album pre order, we get amateurish videos on facebook and a Q&A, while there is a new single released at the same time without any promotion? Knockout is not even mentioned once on the official FB page, besides by fans in the commentary section.
As far as I can tell, this song is one of the songs I would estimate to be most capable of reaching non-fans, compared to other recent Bon Jovi material.

Rdkopper 09-09-2016 04:09 AM

I'm sorry but I actually really like Knockout. It definitely grows on you... I'm listening to it with Beats Headphones and it's gonna sound incredible in a Stadium/Arena.

It feels like since the label is only being used for distribution they hired a company to do the marketing side. Nothing about these videos feel like a label paid for thing.

trevrox 09-09-2016 05:10 AM

Add me in to the group that digs Knockout. Cool track!

Javier 09-09-2016 05:30 AM

Listening to it again, the chorus reminds me a bit of 'somebody told me' by the killers. I've always dug that kind of continuous forward moving ongoing melody

Hi guys..
Been a silent reader on this forum since Crush and finally registered in this forum..
love to join you all with the new song..

Remind me a bit of Adam Lambert song..just a bit but to see they have the guts to create a new sound this is definitely will be a colorful album to me, can't wait to see the whole songs of THINFS..

Wonder why the release this Knockout after THINFS, it sounds totally different when you put this 2 singles on a playlist and you get to listen to it, it's very different and that's great to me and it;s growing on me, bit awkward at first but this will be a great soundtrack,,and hearing it reminds me of the Rocky Balboa running down the street lol..

anyway new sounds looks promising :D

newikov 09-09-2016 06:29 AM

I was thinking the same thing actually! It somewhat reminds me of the soundtrack for Rocky IV - you know, Burning Heart, Hearts on Fire etc.

Savvi 09-09-2016 07:17 AM

I feel like this style was experimented with a bit with the Greatest Hits. We Don't Run, Knockout, No Apologies and, especially, This Is Love This Is Life would all fit seamlessly on an album together.

They went back to traditional post-2000 Jovi sound with WAN, but are now returning to that TIL sound. I remember Jon being particularly fond of that song which was originally meant for The Circle.

yeah it really captured the 80's 90's decade..and also bit of U2 somewhere..
And i think the HAND era is gonna be the safest area for BON JOVI at this time to keep themself as rock band, coz i cant't see they playing live at this age with those kind of songs in Slippery era..with headbanging and stuff, i just don't see that..but to have another great album like these days..i really dont mind thou :D

newikov 09-09-2016 07:45 AM

So in total we have 18 tracks now including We Don't Run which apparently is the same as the original one .. In iTunes it says for me that it's already purchased.

2. Living With The Ghost (4:44)
3. Knockout (3:30)
4. Labor Of Love (5:03)
5. Born Again Tomorrow (3:33)
6. Roller Coaster (3:40)
7. New Year's Day (4:27)
8. The Devil's In The Temple (3:19)
9. Scars On This Guitar (5:05)
10. God Bless This Mess (3:23)
11. Reunion (4:14)
12. Come On Up To Our House (4:35)
13. Real Love (4:34)
14. All Hail The King (4:54)
15. We Don't Run (3:16)

Do you consider it disrespectful when someone notices that there is a difference (decline actually) in the vocal delivery?

This is something that can trouble a fan and we all worry about it because we have a certain connection to the band and we would like the guy to be well and singing nicely. This forum is meant so that we can talk about these things, not to try to hide them.

Immediately after you've ordered. Cdjapan is excellent though. Wonder what's on the dvd.

Walkerboy 09-09-2016 11:24 AM

Count me in on liking Knockout as well.
Massive improvement on THINFS.
Could listen to Knockout over and over, but can't stand THINFS.
In fact, I've already listened to it more than THISNFS!

Whoever said it sounds a bit like something Coldplay would release - not really feeling that at all.
There's a bit of guitar in the background, that has a mild Coldplay vibe circa Viva La Vida, but nothing else about it scream Coldplay to me.

steel_horse75 09-09-2016 11:50 AM

I love Knockout - has real punch and the song has floored me...........:D
