Yeah I know. The previous number 1 debut had sales of 10650 and that was songs from a TV show and that stayed at number 1 for 3 weeks.

They tried - the 2013 stage was clearly an attempt at that.

I think the much more important aspect in being a stadium act is not over saturating and building the demand. U2 toured Europe in 2001, 2006, then 2009-2010 (different places), then 2015 (arenas). Stones: 2003, 2006, 2007, 2013. Bon Jovi? 2000, 2001, 2003, 2006,, 2008, 2011, 2013, and now presumably 2017.

One of Jon's strengths has always been his workaholism, but it has hurt the band's commercial appeal long-term. The studio/songwriting productivity has hurt their album sales, whereas his financial appetite has made long-term harm to their status as a "can't miss stadium show".

I don't really think that would transate into a huge sold out stadium tour. It's their fault really, shockingly bad albums for the last 10 years and a tour every 2 years.

They have (more like had) a pretty good following in Spain. They did 4!!! stadiums shows in 95&96. Then nothing until 2003 and then it was arenas, only two shows and they were still big so that was the first fall from grace. Fast forward 5 more years and like I said ony 1 stadium show and not completely sold out. It was highly anticipated, the ads were everywhere, lots of promo in radio/tv/press (I don't remember if promo by the band or by the promoters), lots of buzz in the forums. But still not a complete sold out show. And what happens next? Shows in 2010, 2011, 2013. So we went from a 7/8 years gap to a more reasonable 5 years to almost every year????

Spain is not big and it's reasonably cheap to travel and find accomodation. So the average fan has seen them a whooping 4 times in 5 years, minimum. Insane, absolutely insane

Yeah, THINFS deserves better. But Jon also deserves the reality check. Give your fans shit albums and say bye bye to your precious stadium tours. Die hards are obviously difficult to please, but casuals aren't stupid. Even if it's a dirty cheap ticket there'll be another band that doesn't tour the same damn core setlist and deserves it more. That's not what I think, that's what I've heard fans say for the past 5-7 years

guys i dont get the negativity...the band released a decent album to say the least, time will tell how it stands the test of time, great lyrics and more personal/sincere approach though for sure.
like it or not the most important market in music business is us...and they scored a no.1!!!and we all take it for granted...the 129k sales are very decent performance, lady gaga who gets sooo much more coverage scored 160 k a week earlier...bj are not in their best moment, jons voice, the aging and richies absnce surely dont help but bj could sell huge amount of tickets with the right combination of promo and price range...its logical we as fans to always ask for more but you cant always ask for the stars...
i hope jons voice improves, at this point i believe maybe we dont get the usual 100 show tour but lets see...

I'm not saying bigger stages would work for Bon Jovi per se but a evolution from previous tours keeps people coming back and I don't think that's happened much at all in the past decade.

You're right about the saturation, that definitely plays a big role.

I think most people are happy they scored a #1 on the Billboard 200. But I'm from the UK and it's really sad to see how far the band have fallen here.

It takes nothing away from appreciating and enjoying THINFS.

What's going to slowly kill Jon's touring is his voice.... Casual fans are only so forgiving and want to hear hits. And Real Hits sung the right way... Lost Highway, Sleep When I'm Dead, Captain Crash and We Got It Going On mixed in the new songs is not gonna fly... They want Bed Of Roses, Always, and I'll Be There For You...

I'm not sure I get the whole, 1 album per ticket sold thing... The numbers just don't add up... So if I purchased 4 tickets, I'd get 4 albums?

Right now there are 20 U.S. shows on sale so even if they averaged 10K each, that would be 200K albums just based on the concerts alone... Do the downloads count as physical copies and just the streams are excluded??? Or maybe they do get as may per ticket, however people are only claiming 1 download... I guess this is part of the deal with the record company. A way for them to capitalize off Jon's touring machine... Tickets prices are adjusted and each time someone cashes in the download, the money gets taken from the tour and it's handed over to the record company... Very Clever!!!

So maybe the album would have sold just as poor in the US if the tickets didn't go on sale... And then once the European concert tickets go on sale, you'll see a spike in album sales... So I wonder how many albums were purchased outside the tour.. You have to figure that most fans have the physical album so they aren't going to even bother with the Download, especially if it's just an MP3 version...

That's very possible. Because I don't see how else THINFS could've outsold WAN by about 35%, when the trendline for each album was to sell considerably less than the previous one.
