A Teardrop To The Sea is SO overrated. It's good but everyone talks about it like it's the second coming of Jesus. Also, we have Fingerprints in that album.

Queensryche I was never into...first record I bought was Poisons Open Up and Say Ahhh and I hadn't somehow got into Jovi then.

I'll let you know when I hear the full record how it fits into the pantheon but I really do love three of the four songs I have so far. The title track is too generic for me but the rest aren't.

Slippery hasn't aged well (it was never my fave) but I love that productions back from the 80's. FInally someone who loves Poison lol. I like them too :) Back to BJ: NJ and TD stood the test of time and are alltime classics. Hard to imagine anyone will talk about THINFS in 2 years time.

Hah I've had plenty of negative comments for being a big supporter of whatever the band puts out...but I can't tell you guys any different. I'm not going to pretend not to like something if I do. Even if it's something that sounds like Taylor Swift but with Jon's voice. I like the tone of Jon's voice :p

And saying that, Taylor Swift also has one or two decent songs. Maybe I just have varied tastes.

Also for consideration should be the vocal ability of the singer to elevate songs from good to great.

Put Jon's current vocals on certain songs from the golden era and see if you think they are as epic - alternatively, imagine Jon's vocals from '88 - '95 on the newer songs. Would they improve?

The songwriting is not altered with either scenario - just the execution.

I don't like anything on BB except WDR. This should have been the direction to go. They destroyed it with the remix on THINFS.

As an album, it's the same as always. But THINFS has some songs that will remain for many years in my player. That's the beauty of this decadent cycle, there is at least a lot of music, and could stay with 3 or 4 songs from each album. In fact you could make a very satisfying album with the best of THINFS and BB.

Good point I have to admit. But you have to consider the production as well. If they got rid of Shanks I would have hope again......WIsh Richie Stuck with SHanks recording his own version of Sonny and CHer and Jon would have let Bob Rock in again to give him a kick in the balls... ;)

Which I said in the Knockout thread is one reason I love it, can really imagine those early 80s vocals on it.

I like We Don't Run but c'mon man, it has everything you're complaining about. Cheesy lyrics, sounds manufactured as **** with that production, and it even sounds like a Eurovision song but with guitars. It isn't raw rock at all.

The only standout track for me I'd put oin a JOvi best of would be "Living with the ghost". It gave me an unexpected Jovi chill. Sadly the only song on the album. I heard it once in full and have no desire to go thru all those 17 songs again. I also think LWAG will war off quickly. Maybe touch of Grey is a classic lol ;)
In the early days I got a BJ album and played it all day for weeks nonstop at home and in my car. Times are changing indeed
