Good point I have to admit. But you have to consider the production as well. If they got rid of Shanks I would have hope again......WIsh Richie Stuck with SHanks recording his own version of Sonny and CHer and Jon would have let Bob Rock in again to give him a kick in the balls... ;)

No-ones disagreeing with you on Shanks production...I think we all hate it. But that is what it is. However don't think for a second Bob Rock these days isn't using these same modern production techniques either.

At least it is an attempt at being a bit edgy. On THINFS it sounds as you described. I don't mind cheesy lyrcs they have been there since the Jovi beginning.

I can understand your point. WDR sounded ****ing cool, remember that before we had What About Now and Because We CAn, therefore, WDR sounded with balls, had claw and attitude.

I too would love a new producer but can't see it happening as Jon is comfortable with Shanks.

Some people are mortified that Jon chases trends but it's what he's always done. Slippery & New Jersey were influenced by 80s rock. KTF & These Days was the bands take on alternative rock or grunge takeover of the 90s and since then every album has had influences of the time stamped onto them.

Even though some times it misfires the constant change has kept the band from being a Def Leppard type novelty act.

[QUOTE=Rdkopper;1212179]This is the most laughable review to date...

Thank you for this astute response, RDkopper!!
You just saved me from spending at least 30 minutes in order to tear apart this reviewers misguided drivel.
It baffles me the amount of musical ignorance some people have in this world.
Serenity now!!

I dont think so. He would not produce such lightweight pop fluff. His production on the last The Cult album was great - punchy and raw....

Which I said in the Knockout thread is one reason I love it, can really imagine those early 80s vocals on it.

I can't really get into Knockout - I don't hate it and I think it had potential but it needed either kick ass vocals to make up for a lack of guitar, or some big riffs to make up for pedestrian vocals. It unfortunately has neither.

I think it's the weakest of the tracks on THINFS, but not a bad song.

With Slippery they were the leaders of the hairband area - D Child helped a lot. Others chased their trends. With NJ they mixed it with their own Springsteen version (BOB for example). KTF was very fresh and the song was something very unique. I agreee that TD was kinda alternative without losing their roots. Unique as well. Those new songs are as far from their roots as their last albums. I do not see too much of a difference musically compared to the last turds. I don not hear a song like "Water" on THINFS, which is better than anything on the new one.

With a heavy production, guitars and a great voice and without those childish "boom boom boom " lyrics it could ve been saved. In this form the song is a mess. Not the only example on the new cd....
