I wouldn't mind to be honest, I'd just find it curious, since many parts in Always for example are higher/more difficult than that one... |

However, I guess he's still shouting on top of it. And he's been using this kind of trick for a long time. He even had a backing track on at least one spot of In These Arms on the KTF tour where he sang on top of it. |

It's on the official online shop, so not very hard to find. Does say "coming soon", though.

On a side note, that backing track has only been around since September 2015. |
well that was pretty amazing....note 3:53  |

Concerning Prayer: thanks for uploading the SBD version! And yes, here, the backing track is missing, and you can hear that Jon didn't quite get up as high as we thought he did. Why they would omit that on the recording (and why not mix the vocals better with at least *some* reverb, etc.) is beyond me... |
Actually the combination of height and power is quite remarkable for Jon's nowaday's standards imo.
|
Is someone organizing a share system for the shows? Doesn't make sense for all of us to buy all of them... PM me if you got something going on :)

i ve seen many videos from the opening 2 nights and have some early comments about the band...
1.jon...impressed by the effort and the result, i truly believe he ll get better as the tour progresses. 2.phil x, the guy can play very well and he really tries but there is sth missing, the chemistry, the guitar feel and phrasing, the different approach, good overall though 3.john shanks...after only 2 shows the guy doesnt fit to be on the big stage...he is miles better than bobby but he has no charisma no stage presence, maybe he ll unlock as the shows continue but he plays far too safe , his addition was an improvement but he doent impress me at all 4. tico the hit man torres!!!! just wow...i saw 7-8 videos from the opening night and saw tico not hitting the leathers hard, i thought it was age, he was playing it safe etc etc...felt a bit sad because the guy was a phenomenal drummer, a beast who always played for the song with tremendous concistency and energy...plz watch the ending of born to be my baby...i saw it 4 times in repeat...the guys are out on the road to prove themselves again... https://youtu.be/3ed2bEa3DJk |
I think John Shanks is doing a commendable job but, What the hell is he playing on Born to be my baby?? The verses to be exact. It doesn't seem to go together with what Phil and Hugh are playing, is he just following Dave? Kind of distracting lol....
|
Listening to older versions Bobby's guitar was barely in the mix and rightly so but from what I can hear it's not the same way Shanks plays it.
|
It can be listened here on the left:
Strange, I don't remember if it was played this way all these years |
Finally, the board's favourite song (they still do the walk):
And Sleep: |

Second show and his voice is already shot? Oh man, this is going to be a long tour. So many shows together didn’t seem like a good idea and add 2 1/2hrs per night… I'm liking this no-fvcks-given Jon but if he doesn’t dosify his voice he’ll be left with his attitude only. I wish they would cut a couple of unnecessary songs (*ehem*Working Men*ehem*Follow*ehem*) and arrange others differently to have longer instrumental parts to give Jon a break instead of all the talking (which I’m loving BTW)
On the other hand, I love the minimalistic stage, I like Jon moving around and being very talkative because otherwise he’s still glued to the mic or looking as if he just stumbled upon the stage. Everett Bradley is great (but a little bit distracting, he’s having waaay too much fun up there), I’m in love with Phil’s guitars (the green one is gorgeous) and I'm thrilled that there's still a high percentage of THINFS songs and they seem to be well received. Overall a promising start |
Re fans whining about stupid things: people who only post hating tweets are plain bullies to me. Noisy and vocal, but bullies nonetheless
With every tour they add more hits* to the basic setlist so WTF are they complaining about? There are less and less slots for the new songs or anything that hasn't been played to death since the LH tour. Are we crazy? WTH do they want? A static Greatest Hits setlist every night??? The average BJ setlist caters heavily to the regular fan, at least in the USA. Are they deaf or not, don't they hear Jon going on and on about having a new no.1 album, new hit songs, being lucky to have new material and don't have to rely only on the hits (whether it's true or not, it's what he believes). What band are they following? Let's see, according to setlist.fm tour statistics, the new songs that were played almost every night for each album/tour where: HAND = 6 songs (I'm counting Radio here since it was released prior to the album and has been played quite regularly since the HAND tour) LH = 5 songs TC = 3-4 songs depending on your definition of regular WAN = 3 songs It's easy to see that even if the new songs where real hits every time, the next tour they either stretch the setlist and make it to 3hrs every night to fit all the songs (old and newer hits, popular regulars and new songs) or they need at least few slots for the new songs because otherwise it wouldn't make sense to bill it as the *Insert New Album title here* tour. recent hits* = songs that Jon loves and plays every night whether the album tanked or not or the actual song was ever heard on the radio |
@symbeline: in today's Show thread We got a q&a Video with jon giving us a tiny bit of insight in how he balances the setlists. Not much Information, but after All you've written here (which mostly, if Not even completely agree with) i just wanted to make sure you don't miss it ;)

That very first "I'm alive" and "night at a time" parts in the intro haven't been sung that well since...2001? I don't mind any trickery in studio recordings as they're supposed to be 'perfect', but can't help but feel it's morally wrong to do it on what you sell as a "live recording". This is exactly the reason why they don't sell those recordings minutes after the show (like Bruce Springsteen or Robbie Williams), but a few days later. Also, it gives all the Jon's apologists to post these falsified recordings and act like "see?? i told you he's not that bad!!!" |
