I agree! I think those storytelling parts between the new songs can be a little too much for an arena show filled with casuals though. I would love it, but I'm not sure it's helping the fact that they play three (four with WDR) new songs in a row.

Thank you DryCounty for keeping us up to date.

If we're going back to I'll Sleep When I'm Dead at every show, I believe a couple cover snippits would go a long way.

At least at the beginning of the WAN tour, we had Wild is the Wind as part of the main set. Who here believes that Work goes over better than WITW?

I'm going to the next two shows and I'm excited to hear all the new stuff, but the rest appears to be a continuation of the Lost Highway tour. Now Raise Your hands is back... another (great) non-single/hit that has been overplayed the last 16 years. They have such a big beautiful catalog... take advantage of it.

Well played.

I can't believe we've actually lost both Blood On Blood and Saturday Night. While they don't have to be played every night, they should be a higher priority than Sleep When I'm Dead or We Got It Going On.

Yes, I hope he doesn't chicken out and drop all or most of the new stuff as the tour goes on.

Setlist wise another yawn-fest, hopefully it was an enjoyable show for those there. Ridiculous that we lose Saturday Night and Blood on Blood, chuck them at the beginning instead of WFTWM and WLOL and it improves it drastically.

Not sure where Jon has the idea of Rollercoaster being a hit. Strange. To be honest, outside of the Bon Jovi bubble, they hasn't been a hit since Who Says, so quite why he thinks that Follow or Lost Highway are in great demand I don't know.

Having a lump of new songs is not going to get a good reaction from an American audience bar the diehards. Come on Jon, remember "One for you, one for me". Split them up with hits around them and try and keep the tempo up. I really don't want to lose the new songs from the setlist and I'm disappointed with the fans reaction to any new Bon Jovi stuff. This is not new to THINFS, it's happened on the last few tours but it still pisses me off. If you like the band enough to buy a not inexpensive concert ticket, the least you could do is give the new album that the tour is named after a listen.

Really surprised Jon has kept this one in.

I dont get the love for this song at all.
Most disappointing song that has a great title.
I thought it was gonna be a real great BJ song and some reviewers went overboard about how good it was.
Its just "meh" to me. Its OK and when it comes on the ipod i skip it.

Thinny 02-20-2017 01:12 PM

Scars is one of the best songs on the album in my opinion and one of the few that truly sounds like Bon Jovi to me.

I can see how it might not work live though...

Agreed, I always skip it. Too whiney and boring.

Agreed. Scars and Come on Up to Our House are the two songs I've barely listened to.

Most likely because it's #12 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary (and has been for a couple of weeks):

Just watched that HAND clip from periscope and I'm actually shocked. Not that he's missing some notes, but he sounds like he has almost no voice left. Judging from the recordings he's been on a steady decline since the first show in Greenville and I'm starting to fear whether he can actually pull off the entire leg.

That's surprising, but not shocking. While they will never have a major hit, Roller Coaster and Born Again Tomorrow were the two songs with most potential to make any noise chart-wise. It's a shame they dropped the ball with the outdated title track as the single instead of picking one of these two.

Agreed. I'm sure live it's harder to tell but still. He sounds like he's actually lost his voice.

And to be honest if it's gonna be that bad I'd rather hear him struggle through I Believe and Hey God.

I'd rather not listen to Jon barely get his way through BoB and Saturday Night.... but man am I happy to see Raise Your Hands back!

Live, it's a snooze fest.

Half the crowd sat during it at the Sunrise show.

I'm just shocked Jon refuses to give it up. He completely loses his audience with it.

BWC as an encore?

If artist/band "X" had just released "Y" album and I bought tickets to the "Y" tour, I would expect to hear songs from "Y" album.

Don't get me wrong, the rest of the set needs work but I actually hope Jon persists with all the THINFS songs, Scars included. (Though they really should've played the whole album across all the shows by now.)

MellyMel 02-20-2017 04:15 PM

I was very disappointed in the audience reaction to the new songs in Greenville. As others have said, it's too many new songs in a row for the casuals. I love the new stuff, but Jon needs to space them out more. I personally love scars, lyrically it's awesome.

I'm nervous for how all the new stuff is going to go over in my next show, Vegas. Vegas will have so many casuals. I want them to keep the new stuff, but space it out. I hope his voice holds on for the leg as well, it's very concerning. Jon is so dedicated once the tour starts, it makes me wonder if he would resort to steroid shots again to get him thru, if needed.

He barely made his way through that one too. But Phil X was rockin'!

Jonty 02-20-2017 04:22 PM

Jon being out in the crowd with acoustic guitar would work more for Scars.

And where are Ghost, BAT and New Years Day?

CaptainKiddOnSunset 02-20-2017 04:52 PM

I've been looking back at past set lists from shiwa I've been to...95-present, it looks like there's always been about 5-7 songs off of the new album... I think the difference is now the new stuff is mostly crap and back in the day it rocked...

After watching some videos, I've noticed that Shanks lost some weight!!! Didn't even recognize him in this video...

Bounce7800 02-20-2017 05:04 PM

If he needs/wants a slow song why not alternate Scars and Labor Of Love?

Such simple things to make a little difference, as opposed to chucking Because We Can in the encore ffs

Rdkopper 02-20-2017 05:08 PM

I think Jon's new vocal technique involves him talking out certain verses instead of singing them...

Labor Of Love is still one of my favorite live songs from the album... I think that deeper vocal style is perfect for Jon's current voice... Along with Teardrop, which I would love for him to do live...

Rdkopper 02-20-2017 05:20 PM

Anyone else watch Everett and Phil more than Jon during Roller Coaster?

Labor of Love fits his voice during the verses, but he already struggled mightily during the promo shows. I think that's why he sticks to Scars On This Guitar since it's much easier on the vocals. I'm still baffled as to why it doesn't get swapped for Real Love every now and then since I think that it might actually work quite well.

Because Scars is actually good.

I predict that he will drop it in favor for Memory - moderate hit still OK for Jon's voice or even Hallelujah.

I posted this recently (too lazy to look it up right now)

According to setlist.fm stats, it was something like:

HAND tour, 6 new songs
LH tour, 5 new songs
TC+GH tour, 4 new songs
WAN tour, 3 new songs

Edit: This is of course at the start of every tour. I was going to check how many different songs they did for the first 10 shows of each tour, but I've been crazy busy. From what I recall (so don't trust me at all), the first 3-4 shows where pretty static but with small changes almost every night, and then it would change a little bit more every few shows

This is very sad. It's incredible how fast he's declining. I really wonder if he is going to add more legs to the tour with his voice going so fast.

bonjovi90 02-20-2017 06:14 PM

I wonder if he's already relying on steroid injections again. Somewhere around 2008 he said that he always has them in his bag, but usually tries not touch the stuff.

That's the first time I'm actually questioning whether he can really pull off this entire leg or whether they might go and cancel some shows.
