Maybe because BJ vocals were actually always delivered by two people? ;] Once one is gone, the magic is lost and it doesn't necessarily means the other one has completely lost it. It's just a lot weaker and exposed.

Hmm, no, that would only apply to the passages of the songs where both Jon & Richie were singing. There's always been > 75% where Jon sang alone, only stronger, more confident and higher then nowadays (though maybe more nasally, as well)...

Well, actually it's been 7 years, but nitpicking aside - yes, the difference in Jon from 2010/11 and 2016/17 is huge. He looks much older (most of that due to the hair of course) and more mature/not so much like a rock star as he used to, moves less, and can't sing nearly half as good as he used to. I didn't see this coming to be honest. Did you?

So that actually is a huge decline in just about 5 years IMO. I know Richie factors into that on a psychological level, and that does affect Jon, but to that degree? I don't know...

Doesn't mean I don't still like 'em though. Always will!

Did I see it coming??? Absolutely!!! I saw the vocal decline from '10 to '11 to '13 to '15 to now... I knew this day would come... we've had these discussions years ago... Seb actually called it...

Pretty much. You can still make the comparison of the songs Jon sings with no backing vocals today and a few years ago. Saying there was always two vocals is a stretch.

Yes, totally agree with you. I've always said, would I want Richie back yes, but ONLY if he truly wants to be there. I am one of the few digging the excitement and energy that Phil brings.

I love Phils energy and enthusiasm - plus the guy can really play........but its not Richie. Its hard to replace someone who has been in the band for nearly 30 years but.....Trouble is Richie isnt Richie anymore either so unless he cleans up it would be pointless having him back.

So let's break it down...

1.Different doesn't mean bad

2. They lost Richie Sambora a monster guitarist...

3. Add three new members including 2 guitarists and a percussionist...

4. Jon's older... 5 years in your 20s doesn't mean shit... 5 years from your late 40s to 50s does...

5. So factor in all the above and news flash... Yes, they are going to be ****ing different from 5 years ago!!!

I'm kinda shocked that we continue to be in denial. Thw aren't the same band and it isn't better. I'm not sure how much different the set lists would be if Richie was back because it's completely apparent that Jon can't sing some of the songs they were playing 5 years ago. Consider it a tribute from the long time fans to be a little upset that they aren't hearing some of the songs that they grew up loving.

I don't know about you, but I'm not ready for Bon Jovi to be a tourist attraction that people only go to see for 3 songs.

That's my feeling as well.

Jon sounds marginally better but still feels like karaoke night

BUT he seems to be moving a little bit more and I'm loving 8 THINFS songs and the stories between songs (we know them, but I think they work beautifully on the show).

There's no way this band would work on a stadium right now, though, which is a ****ing shame. Watching this is very bittersweet, I don't want them to stop but I don't want to remember BJ like this. It's not terrible by any means but it's still a shock to see how different it looks and feels.

Wow.. I am so lucky to have seen them in 2010 with Richie..

On a side note, the end of this video makes me giggle. After playing a monster song like BoB, they kick it in to Born To Follow... instant mood killer lmao
