Born To Be My Baby

I've got a feeling we're gonna get something new in the encore but I can't stick around to find out. If someone could take over updating the set that would be great.

I don't know how much longer I have tonight but I'll take over for now. Thanks for keeping us updated.

From a photo I seen before, it looked like WGIGO got played too.

Eveline, IBTFY didn't get played. He was being sarcastic.

Thank you! I added it. I imagine it is a cut and paste from the last 8 or 9 shows, but I joined in around God Bless This Mess so I can't be certain what happened before besides what Thomas posted.

Zacm95 03-09-2017 08:39 AM

Hey! Always!

liljovi93 03-09-2017 08:41 AM

He's got some balls giving Always a go!

Sent from my EVA-L09 using Tapatalk

Savvi 03-09-2017 08:44 AM

He's shouting really. But hey, I'd take it like this than not at all. Should be a staple, though I understand why it's not.

Eveline 03-09-2017 08:45 AM

I was hoping there would be something really fresh but hey, the tour hasn't finished yet!

Savvi 03-09-2017 08:46 AM

That final chorus wasn't half bad, in comparison.

Jon: "Dam that f***** song is hard"

Blood on Blood now.

Thomas S 03-09-2017 08:54 AM

I'm back...
And we're about to have a second encore!!

Panda 03-09-2017 08:57 AM

Why would they call a second encore and just play wanred and prayer? I wonder if jon went back to see if the band new an audible

liljovi93 03-09-2017 09:18 AM

I only heard Blood On Blood and it was bloody awful.

WILDJOVIMAN 03-09-2017 09:24 AM

difficult Slot after Always... but BOBīs never awful...Legends will never die..

Panda 03-09-2017 09:35 AM

Prayer was so bad that i turned it off.

bounce442 03-09-2017 10:08 AM

Tonight was a rough night. HAND and BM were among the worst I've seen. I couldn't believe he tried Always. Some places he nailed, some places he didn't.

Called it

The fact he needs a week to recover from singing it though...

liljovi93 03-09-2017 10:31 AM

Always and Blood On Blood weren't on the original set list. May have been audibles but they were scribbled out on the set list I seen.

That Always was actually pretty damn good for what it is! Kudos, Jon! :)

First videos of the show on YT. For today's standards, Jon sounded quite decent on this one. Considering this and the 8 day break, I can understand why Jon went for Always tonight. Although his voice completely died after it. Anyways, let's see when Always and BOB vids will be popping up.

Can i just say that the song he has sang best in this tour is always?? And is maybe the most difficult one??

I would say that, in the end, it's down to your personal taste. He surely put lots of effort into the two renditions of this tour, but I wouldn't say it's the song he sang best. However, I think it's the most difficult song he tried so far.
The thing is, that there's also no definite answer imo because if Jon consinders a song harder to sing, he pushed harder, so that you can't really say that if you are looking for the song he sang best, you should be looking for the easier ones.

The pre chorus of blood is especially painful, and it seems lines there's a backing track at parts too. Sad way to start the day hearing such a great song sound like rubbish

The audibles read as:

Blood on Blood
Saturday Night
Raise Your Hands
Always

------
At this point expect Always to be played more often.
RYH has become the THINFS tour equivalent of Hey God during the BWC cycle - often an audible but only brought up once.

DryCounty 03-09-2017 04:07 PM

That has to be worst Always ever done. If it's gonna sound like that I don't see the point of playing it. It's so out of tune it's crazy.

Wow, that's the definition of gutting it out on Always. Smokin' solo by Phil though!

As much as I'd like to agree with that statement, in this case I just can't. IMO, Blood on Blood died a slow excruciating death during the first show in Greenville and any subsequent attempts to revive it in later shows have proven unsuccessful.

RIP

How is shouting good singing technique? This is visually horrible, not the worst rendition of Always I've ever heard but Jon looked as if he would collapse clinging to the mic. I had to stop watching halfway through :(

Manbou 03-09-2017 05:44 PM

I would Say this always sits somewhere in between greenville and seoul. It mostly gets saved by the Not so Bad last chorus, though he didn't Go for the high "shine" and "rhyme" - maybe better so, because they would probably have sounded horrible.
And I think it's clear that always has taken his toll, directly afterwards... Perhaps it would have been better to attempt it after prayer, or to drop blood to end the show quicker. Anyways, i agree that it doesn't make sense to play always if it doesn't Sound better than this.

Bounce7800 03-09-2017 07:01 PM

It takes so much out of him, he should sing it last after prayer as a second encore. Given the 3 songs after always are so important to the crowd it'd be best to not ruin them. Plus always is a more than adequate closer.

efpg0708 03-09-2017 07:18 PM

Wow ... The whole encore sounds absolutely terrible ... It really hurts to see Jon with his eyes closed almost dying behind that mic stand ... They must downtune the songs. Lot's of bands do it, even they have done it (In These Arms and Livin in Sin).

jovifan93 03-09-2017 07:42 PM

I don't know. I still find his tone better on the last 2 shows, and while this Always isn't perfect (and yes, it has 2-3 parts that aren't too good at all), he really nails some of it. Is it shouting? I'm not so sure, because it sounds really "clean" (no hearable rasp or strain). Is it difficult for him and to watch him suffering? Sure...

And one thing to consider for Blood On Blood: the high notes in the chorus aren't far away from the ones in Always. It's not an easy song to sing following Always, though I admit that on some of it he sounded real terrible. Wanted and Prayer were better...

Maybe Jon should call Tom Kiefer of Cinderella and book an appointment with the Dr that did his vocal chord operation

The problem is we don't know for a fact that the voice issue is vocal chord related. I suspect if that was the reason, he'd have the surgery.

Bounce7800 03-09-2017 09:46 PM

There's lots of good youtube videos of this show already, Cal Vid & Brian James both got lots of good videos, all have been uploaded to the 1st post.

The setlist needed shuffling as Rollercoaster wasn't played in the spot it showed on the picture, most likely was after Sleep When Im Dead
