I didn't know that. I suppose they've used it in 2015, but I didn't count that as a tour and I wasn't even sure xD

But that's it, right? I've seen them in Madrid 2013 and there wasn't any track

Averaging a tour ever other year puts a strain on the band and also the fan base. We are not all made of money but if I do choose to pay and watch them I want something new for my money. This setlist has the same 15 songs as before with the new album cuts added. There is nothing fresh for me and whilst some of the new songs are ok they are not a patch on the classic era.

I gladly paid for this show and I would be thrilled if I could go to another one. Since they don't play near me, I am not burned out. I'm lucky to get to one or two shows a tour. I like the new songs and love hearing them. I also know after 34 years there are certain songs that will be the same.

I'm glad those of you who watched the Facebook live were able to do so. I hope you enjoyed it. The videos are still up if you want to view them. I can't copy/paste a link because I'm on a mobile device. I think the links posted last night will work.

Becky, you honestly represent probably 95% of those buying tickets on this leg. There are very few fans that go to more than a few shows a tour (and feel burned out) The new album songs HAVE to be played, the hits have to be played. The US audience has attention deficit so he's never going to venture into deep cuts. That said could he toss some of the songs that fans wouldn't miss like Born To Follow and rotate in two different songs a night, most definitely. But, our, meaning US, set lists are NEVER indicative of set lists in other countries.

Thank you so much for Facebook live. It was much appreciated.

hackster73 03-17-2017 10:18 PM

It's nice to hear that the shows are being enjoyed so maybe it's just me that's struggling with accepting where this band is right now. I will be surprised if this tour makes it to Europe as the audience will demand more than they can deliver currently.

You are spot on and that's all I was saying really. Just throw out the odd bone in the setlist.

Some notes....

First and foremost, Jon sounds fine. He's not as strong as he used to be, but there is nothing unpleasant about his voice. Everyone I was with talked about what a good singer he is. People walking out of the venue, on the street, in the hotel lobby, and up and down Beale Street were raving about the show. And since none of them are "biased" like me, I have to come to the conclusion that my hearing is just fine and so is my judgment.

Secondly, Phil is a hit. Again, people were raving about how good he is. I inserted myself into a conversation on the way out because some folks were saying how they didn't miss Richie at all, but didn't know who the new guy was. I told them his name, where he came from, his age, and that he was on Twitter. No one could believe how old he is. The general consensus was the he was in his 30's. I had to look his birthday up to convince my friends I traveled with. Haha.

Jon threw his towel to a girl about 2 rows in front of me as he was leaving the stage into the backstage area. Yes, I wanted to take her out.

If you're going to Memphis, prepare to die. There's a big sign just into TN, that said something like "280 murders in 2016. Down 500 cops." Then as we were leaving, there was a bulletin flashing over the interstate that said, "Seven highway deaths in February." They're honest in Memphis. LOL

If you go to Beale Street, you will be accosted by panhandlers and crazy people.

We still had a great time and are ready to do it again. Well, maybe after a shower and a nap.

If you watched the live feed, please let me know. I used a ton of my data to do it (No WiFi available despite the Bon Jovi app saying there would be). I have a crappy phone and limited data, so I want to know if it's worth it to do the Facebook Live.

Glad you had a great time. Yes, the sound was pretty decent on the live feed. Thanks for doing that!

Nice Review... Didn't watch the live feed but saw some clips... I think Jon is coming into his own with the way he performs live... miles better from when he first started this type of set in Miami... I think Jon is blaming his loss of range and power on his age and I'll accept that... I'll be in Philly in a few weeks...

Another thing... I had perfect view s of Tico, David, and Phil. They all seemed really happy to be there. Jon did too, but he was working the crowd. The crowds are getting older and don't spend all night standing up and that bugs him. He wants people up. It's hard though when you're standing in front of people who are sitting and you don't want to be rude to them. No one really wants to create a hostile environment or ruin the experience for someone else.

Oh gosh no, it absolutely predates 2013. It's been off and on since 2003. Sometimes a secondary track augments it, sometimes he lip syncs it, sometimes it was just him, sometimes its just him and Bobby.

It puzzles me to see people considering this as "sounding good". I know one can still have fun and enjoy the concerts, but there's no way people don't notice how bad he's sounding. In Dusseldorf and Zurich 2011 his voice was shite, however miles ahead of this, and a lot of people from this board who were there (including me) pointed that out before watching youtube videos.

My brother is attending tomorrow's concert with his wife. They are both casual fans who live in Cleveland. My brother asked me what to expect, and I just told him to go and have fun. Don't want to rush him into any pre-judgement.

Agree. The whole "when-you're-at-concert-you-don't-hear-how-bad-he-sounds"-argument is getting way out of hand on this board. It has kind of worked like a defence mechanism for people who lives in denial about how bad it is. I enjoyed both my 2013 shows but man I would have had to be deaf to not hear that he sounded very weak in certain songs.

See, I think you are just missing the point... As this tour rolls on and the more people actually attend, we are getting a lot of similar feedback... For starters, Jon is somewhat improving.... But watching these videos is like zooming into a pimple on a models face... Sure that pimple will look ugly until you start to zoom out... Even though it's still there, once you see her entire face, it's not as bad...

Jon's voice is shot... Not doubt... He sings some songs better than others... He's very good with the new stuff and the filler tracks.. When the hits are played, he uses a lot of tricks... He uses backing tracks, background singers, he relies on the crowds and acoustics... All singers do this... And the end result is a very enjoyable show...

It's not just us saying this... It's 20 thousand people a night too..

Once again, no one is saying the shows are crap and people are not having a good time. For the casual fan, the show is still pretty good: the band is playing very well, there are a lot of hits on the set, and the rest of the band is covering a lot for Jon. Also, he's avoiding playing songs that demand more vocally, like I'll be there for You and Bed of Roses. When he tried Always, he failed. And considering that the majority of the people who write those reviews don't have a clue about music or the band itself, it's no surprise that they have been good.

My point is that Jon sounds so bad nowadays that I don't see how can someone go to a BJ concert and say: Wow, he's a great singer. As I said before, I've been to shows in which his voice was bad and not only myself but a lot of other members here noticed it.

Regarding the attendence ... even in 2010/2011 the vast majority of concerts in Europe were far from sold out. In 2013 he played for half-empty stadiums on more than a few ocasions. With very few exceptions, you can buy a ticket at the day of the show for this tour. They still have a good market in the US, but even there the attendence is beginning to decline.

No. Will not be going this time.

Has anyone purchased the soundboard of the Memphis show? I did... and it is still not available. It is supposed to be 1-3 days after the show. Just checking to see if anyone has had better luck than me.

Becky 04-02-2017 10:01 PM

I saw my friend from church who went to the show. He has not seen the band for nearly 30 years. He said he was really impressed, was ready to see them again, and he really hopes this is not their last tour. 😹

That's impressive, considering that the last time your friend saw them was on their peak.
