I don't know how this could be called anything but lip syncing. Jon's mic doesn't seem to be on.

He's singing completely different lyrics when it goes out of sync and is still singing into the mic as the guitar solo begins, but zero vocals can be heard.

someone help me out here... on the pre chorus, on the studio he says "now we built these walls" and live he usualy says just "we built these walls", on this video, someone can hear him saying the word now?

the thing that gets me is the chorus, because Jon don't sing the whole thing and is playing his voice through the whole chorus and the cues, you can see him doing his stuff when the solo starts, when the songs go back to the initial chords.... I'm so confused about this shit ahhaha

But if you watch the other video you can hear their singing under the studio track after the first mistake and until the end. What were they singing before the mistake is another question...

At the 4.15 mark, David stops singing and playing altogether... And he and Jon point at each other... David uses IEMs right? Does he realise something is up?

The fact that none of the band seem to notice an issue
... It really seems like the wrong track was played over the top of the band.... Over the top of their microphones maybe and that's why we can't hear Jon very well?

That was my first thought but then they keep playing behind the track and nothing indicates that Jon is aware, so maybe they knew something was wrong but couldn't hear what and didn't think it would be this messy so they kept going on. At the end when the backing track stops whoever was pressing the wrong button tries to fix it by bringing them back. So it's entirely possible that they didn't realize at all until later

Clearly Jon wasn't happy with the short pbp threads on Jovitalk either. He's watching....

This is getting boring already. You are overanalyzing it. Someone plays the wrong track, the band isn't hearing it, so they play as if nothing happens. That's it. The sound could be completely gone and they wouldn't notice, like this:

https://youtu.be/5GuXkCh-p5Q?t=1m44s

That doesn't mean it was playback

Great video. Saw it before. :D
Is there a thread on here about the sound engineering of a concert? Just interested in it... Especially the IEMs

Probably very obvious... But what's pbp?

Jesus, are you serious? You're comparing a technical issue where the PA went out with an obvious case of playback being used.

So you think Jon was trying to lipsync the whole song? when the track skept a part, why they kept playing the missing part and kept playing the song delayed? cause they didn't hear the track. I assume that if you're going to do playback, you are hearing the track you are pretending to play.
