It's almost like in that video that was posted on the YouTube thread earlier... Where the PA blew but the band didn't notice. They were singing and playing still.

It's like Jon thinks he's singing the right part, can hear himself and the band... But the music over the top is at a different place... Like the PA is out of sync? I don't know. I have no idea about the technology they use on stage

I don't know what to think... there is no doubt Jon is singing... Maybe he just sings over himself if needs to take a breath... and the tracks just weren't in sync...

What does David hear in his IEM mix? He seems to realise at some point that they are out of sync

I don't get it... Jon stopped and restarted Born To Follow in Philly so I don't think he's lip syncing the entire show... I think maybe it has to do with the auto tuning of his voice... I really don't know...

Definitely not lip syncing the whole show. The Bad Medicine clip of him in the crowd at Philly wasn't. Didn't look like it anyway. There are plenty other clips where he's definitely singing.
And on this THINFS clip he appears to be singing?... you just can't hear him.

Could this be what those black dots mean on the setlist? The songs that require auto tune or lipsynced moments?

Jon needs to lip synch during THINFS. I rest my case about him sounding like crap on this tour.

That explains the static setlists. He must be singing on top of back tracks for a lot of songs.

If it was just a lipsnycing issue only the vocals would be the problem but you can hear the drums doubled and out of sync. I'm not sure that's what this is.

I agree.... If he was solely lip syncing, shouldn't he be able to hear the track and sing/mime the right verse in the right place?

In that clip it's almost like he can hear something totally different in his ear and is singing at the point he thinks the song is at
