I love Wild In The Streets. And I don't think we're seeing it again. Too bad, Phil would kill it on that solo. (Why the hell did Jon let Bobby butcher the solo with Richie standing right there? Will never understand this and the same with In These Arms.) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
I saw it in San Sebastian, Spain in 2011 and that might be the last time. My recollection was that it was a train wreck.

Loved hearing New Year's Day; had a lot of energy. It was one of the few new songs I didn't record....Hope to record it tomorrow night. Am curious how you thought Jon sounded on the first song, just sounded "strange" to me.....for me to notice it without having any musical inclination whatsoever, I can only imagine what people who do have a musical background thought! The other 7 people I was with really enjoyed the show, though a few did complain not recognizing the new songs....their own fault really, as I dropboxed them all a copy of the new cd for them to listen to ahead of time. I am thrilled that he is playing so many new songs. At the last u2 concert I was at, Bono played 6-7 new songs from his new cd also and I remember thinking why doesn't Jon do that. |

One of those magical nights Jon gave us with a setlist full of rarities,I had the feeling during the show that everything could be possible, and when Richie started This Aint A Love Song I had one of my best moments on a BJ concert ever. On the other hand, someone said that the last time Next 100 years was played was during the Crush tour, but I remember it was played again during the european one wild night tour. |

I can't watch any vid of the new songs being played, everytime I try I weep of anxiety for my show
|
Really? 10 pages and only 3 posts that have to do with the actual show itself...
The most anticipated, arguably the best show to date, monster reviews and nothing left to say??? I think I've learned more about The Next 100 Years then I've ever cared to learn about... Being at the show, I was hoping to read other perspectives but I get it... it's just the same show over and over again... Sent from my HTCD160LVW using Tapatalk |

Out of the 18 or so shows I've been to, I've been to two really shitty ones and people still loved it. I heard rave reviews all the way through the parking lot both times. People get caught up in the moment, but I expect better because I know they can be better. If you're one of the people who are okay with mediocrity and can appreciate it, then good for you. |

Anyways, having been around on here since 2001 ish, this isn't really new, but I get how people don't even bother with participating in these discussions anymore. |

10 years ago, it just seemed to be everyday people of all ages... now it just seems like core fans... or for another example, 10 years ago, there were kids in their 20's going and now 10 years later, those kids who are now in their 30's are not there... Sent from my HTCD160LVW using Tapatalk |

I'm just here because I'm a procrastinating University student that should be doing his homework. When I get a job and start a life I'd expect my involvement here to drift away as well. |

Hi Panda, that was me posting on Twitter! I bought a ticket a few days before the show because the price dropped from $209 (Ticketmaster face value) to $149 (Stubhub). I was in the first row of my section (103) so I could get some good photos with my camera from across the arena. Jon's voice sounded pretty solid throughout I thought. Not the vocal issues I was expecting but not the best voice ever. However, with the excitement and live atmosphere, people aren't usually nitpicking the vocals. People are drinking beer and dancing and enjoying themselves. It's interesting that there were no screens for this tour - first I can remember without being able to see Jumbotrons.
The acoustic opening of Blood on Blood was the best moment of the show for me by far. I was so excited to hear Runaway - not because I am obsessed with the song per se, but because I knew it was going to be the "rarest" song of the night. I was at the March 5th, 2011 show and what a stunning difference...I remember it very well when they were playing Someday I'll Be Saturday Night and the sound cut out. The band didn't notice at first and kept playing. It was a strange sight to see them singing and playing but no sound was audible... Jon was clearly and visibly furious. But what a show that turned out to be. Reminded me of my first ever Bon Jovi show - Albany 2001 - where the organ broke and the arena went dark for a few minutes. Lots of stamping, clapping, cheering in the dark. Jon came back out and said "Give me an acoustic guitar, I'm not afraid" and played a stunning mini-acoustic set. I was in 9th grade. Still the best show I've seen of theirs and it gives me chills to remember it. Anyway, the MSG show was fun, sure, but it's not one I'll remember decades later. I'm glad I went and got some merchandise, met up with old friends, had a good time. |

I totally feel you! I remember my first two Bon Jovi shows like yesterday. They were pure magic. I've paid to see over a 100 different live bands, and it was these shows that hooked me in and turned me into a diehard. I bought the entire discography within a month of seeing those shows, and shortly after joined this board. I just don't see that magic anymore. You see glimpses, and people hold on to those. They have indeed shown up a few times in this tour, but not often, and only lasting minutes. I just don't buy this "you have to be there" bs. I've been to enough shows to understand what it feels like to "be there". Some bands are really killing it now, and some are even pretty new that have shown the same magic I saw from Bon Jovi previously. The awe and thanksgiving of being on stage performing. The wonder that you pull the audience in with you. Right now, it's a stage show - and anyone can do that. Hell, I saw Justin Bieber and he puts on a hell of a stage show. That's normal. What I want and expect is just something more. I see absolutely no evidence of Jon this tour absolutely loving what he does. |

This.... And I totally get what you mean by distant... People who don't really like or hate the band but just want to go because they just want to see the show...

Those people will return when they pass through this. People tend to get nostalgic when becoming older and settled down. However, I just don't think Jon's voice will last for too long. |

If you're gonna play 5 songs every night that nobody in the crowd wants to hear, why not start a huge continuous rotation showing the depth of your catalogue. Someone goes home and says "There was this Cowboy Ride song, sounded kinda cool" then they look it up and see it was from New Jersey. As die hards if there was 3-5 slots in the set that could change every night and could be any possible song. Hell I don't even care if its the song Complicated, but it would surprise me. There are so many songs they could go to, that he could potentially sing, that would make this board go nuts. There's no possible way he thinks the whole building knows or wants to hear some of the songs he's choosing - and I do believe that's why some of the crowds didn't sell out, and why others were very subdued. Ill stop there - cause i'll get worked up further. |
I liked this tour. I liked being able to listen to all the shows via the digital downloads. I won't ever criticize Jon or this band for going out and supporting a new record with new band members. Was it boring? Sure. But that's ok. He could just sit home in his big mansion on the Navesink and never be heard from again, but he chooses not to and I'm fine with that.
