I dont post here much .I don't know why people /Fans /whatever are saying that Bon Jovi might retire because Jons voice has changed or doesn't sound the same whatever. The band will go on until they have died. They are musicians with years ahead of them...A certain songwriter musician from the 60's is touring USA right now.In the same venues that Bon Jovi recently played to sold out crowds. He is 20 years older than Jon and still filling the arena's with his fans who love him as much as Bon Jovi's fans love Jon and the band.Bon Jovi will go on the same as this guy is..He doesn't sound the same as he did 20-40 years ago but he is going on because he is a superstar and his fans still love him just like Bon Jovi's fans will still love them in another 20 years.

The "you can't criticise unless you're there" argument never have and will never make any sense. Bands that are good sound good on Youtube, end of story. It's fine if one finds the current performances satisfactory. It's fine if one doesn't. Problems arise when one attitude interferes with another with "trols" and "jerks" getting tossed around. |

Also, the issue isn't his change of vocals. It's the detereation of them. |
15th April 2017 - Madison Square Garden, New York, Night 2 Thread
I enjoyed both MSG shows a lot out of the 7 shows I saw this leg, they were my favorite. The vibe of the garden always make those shows special. I enjoyed this leg and call me whatever you want, deaf, dumb, Jon apologist, yada, yada and I'll live with those labels lol! Where else can you wear fringe!!https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...511ef471f4.jpg

Review Time:
So I started in one section and ended in another... Our seats weren't horrible to start... 2nd level up on Shank's side however after being where we were for the first show, it was difficult being there... Then the stars must have been lined up. While in the beer line (during Whole Lotta Leavin) a random lady comes up to me and hands me 2 upgraded tickets (actually 3 but I only needed 2) close to the section I was in the first night down by Phil, first level... It was crazy... So I stayed for a few more songs in the okay section and went down during Who Says... It's really night and day... Even a section can change your whole view and dynamic of a show... One level up and people were sitting during the opening and even yelling at people to "sit down in front" until Jon made everyone stand for Bad Name.... The lower sections are just the opposite. You can't get anyone to sit. People were dancing. Such a different experience... The show itself was great again... Same old vocal/setlist feedback! The vocals were fine and not horrible. The set-list blah blah blah... I don't have a problem with repeat sets, especially in different cities, I just have a problem with the choice of songs... For example, Lost Highway and Whole Lot A Leavin need to go... I was thinking that maybe Jon is trying to include more Shanks' co-written/produced/guitar driven songs in the sets...I don't know, can't figure it out... I just don't get some of these random unknown to casual fan songs like Whole Lotta Leavin... I think what's also throwing people off are the songs being sung in the same order... Something else we are not used to. Prayer could be an opener one night and a closer the next once upon a time ago... I think if Jon randomized the sequence a little more, it wouldn't be so bad... anyway...moving on... Jon's energy was fantastic. Just watching him was making me tired. He is in incredible shape. When you're not at these shows and just reading setlists and watching select videos on YouTube, you are only judging a fraction of what's really going on... Jon is all over that stage, dancing, interacting with all the guys... Very youthful... He is definitely not sluggish in that department... New Songs: THINFS and Knockout have grown to be my favorite songs off this album... When they were the first 2 songs released off the album, I was worried, especially with Knockout but seeing these songs come to life as openers, they are absolutely fantastic. Jon punching the Boom Boom Boom is awesome... NYD is also a great when Jon says '****! It's great to be in a Rock n Roll Band 1, 2, 3" and then the song kicks off... WDR is kind of a dud which is disappointing... I'm glad Jon proved that he could pull it off live because I remember everyone saying that he'll never be able to but they don't do it right... The Woooo Woooo Woooo beginning comes off too whiny or something (wrong pitch) and the song needs more attitude like in the album version. Jon sings it too soft... He's whispering the beginning... Great guitar work though.... Roller-Coaster comes off great live too... Fun song and great crowd pleaser... It's the WGIGO of THINFS... I'm disappointed that Devil and LWTG were never done at any of the 3 shows I attended... I touched on the encore last night (a few posts back)... Captain Crash might have been played in a record time, shortest to date... which is a good thing. I hate when mediocre songs are dragged out... And his family was not in attendance this time around!!! I guess one show per tour was enough for them! In summary, all three shows were really great... I get why some people are down with the sets and vocals but I can honestly say that Jon still does it better than most... Maybe not nearly as good as his younger years but he's still a great performer... He's got the energy, knows how to work a crowd, and 2.5 hour shows are still impressive... I'll rate this show 8.5 out of 10. A few better songs in the set would make it a 9.5. I want to believe that these 29 Arena shows are just warm-ups for a bigger and better Stadium tour to come. Especially in Europe... What's next for Jon until the 2nd leg? I don't think it's happening this summer because I'm sure tickets would have been on sale by now... Does he start writing the next album? |

I agree about sections but it was the opposite for me, was in lower 106, row 8 Thursday night and last night chase bridge 314 row 1 and I enjoyed last night's show much more. The crowd around me was up most of the time and really having a great time. They even seemed to be into the new songs. Wasn't sure how I would feel about the bridge seating but it was really cool to see what I thought was a bird's eye view of the band and the audience. I also thought he had a ton more energy last night and sounded a lot better too. It was cool to watch Tico, that guy is unbelievable. Disappointed Devil's in the temple wasn't played and would have loved to hear "always" or "I'll be there for you" His voice is not what it was, but he still knows how to work a crowd and until he can't do that anymore, I think we still have quite a few more tours to look forward to. |

Thanks so much for a great review. I agree that Jon still has it as a performer and the show is so different depending on where you are sitting/standing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Hoping to see more reviews of the concert in this thread which is specifically for the concert.
They don't have to be all positive and with praises as everyone has different experiences, but it's nice to read about the actual concert instead of made up set list wishes and complaints about the concert from those who weren't even there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I have to say though, that Raise Your Hands sounded particularly bad and Crash didn't sound much better. I was surprised at the difference between the encore and the rest of the set. I usually get so involved during the live show that I don't even hear a sour note or two. Last night I heard a bunch of them. I have heard both of those songs so many times live that it really hurt to hear Jon struggle. Once I heard the struggle I figured that he wouldn't go for Always and he didn't. Once again though, overall a very good show. Tons of energy from Jon and the band really deserves to be showcased. They are precise and tight with lots of energy. They really sparkle. If I could make a wish, I would just hope that Jon could salvage a bit more of his voice. Perhaps it just isn't possible. |

the 2nd row is behind us obviously and also has seating. The 3rd row are the bar stools. My husband loved the view and thought it must be amazing for a hockey/basketball game. |

There will be no uk tour this that's for sure as tickets would've been on sale by now. Tickets normally go on sale about 9 months before the shows over here in U.K.

Last time I saw Bon Jovi in the UK the stadium was less than half full, so maybe the demand just isn't there anymore. This was four years ago now of course so there has been a bigger gap than usual.

Except on markets that they have not visited in many many years, their popularity has been decreasing. Japan is a good example: they used to do multiple cities there ... Not anymore since 2011. |

Every show bar Hyde park had a big Group On promotion in the weeks leading up to the shows for £10 per ticket! I think it was Sunderland that was only half sold out. Diamond Circle only sold out for Hyde Park. At every other UK show loads of Gold Circle tickets were allowed into the Diamond Circle. Scotland barely got a 2hr show that tour either. Think it was only 1hr 45 mins. Another indication of lack of interest in the UK was the Palladium show. In years gone by these tickets would have been Gold dust yet virtually everyone of the UK jovi fans I know via social media and meet ups all "won" tickets. hardly anyone who tried to win a ticket or wanted to go were unable to do so.. |
I don't know about the UK, but in Germany, one concert (Berlin) even had to be re-scheduled from a stadium to a smaller outdoor venue (20.000 instead of 80.000 roundabout) in 2013. In 2011, numbers were lower than 2008, but only by 1/4 max.

Re Palladium- reason why so many won was the only other way to get tickets was pay nearly £1500 per person package. So there were a lot more available to give away as people weren't gonna pay that. You couldn't just buy a ticket unfortunately. I reckon at least 95% of tickets were given away as draw prizes. Don't get me wrong, jovi couldn't sell out a stadium now in U.K. unless there was 1 date for entire U.K leg of tour. They could maybe sell out MK Bowl as it has holds 60,000 but even that'd be a stretch. |
