Ultimate Soundboard Playlist
I recently had an idea of making a playlist of every song the band has ever played live –*only 1 version of each song (unless there's also an acoustic variation). Basically, I'm looking for the best quality (in terms of both performance and sound) version of each song. Some of these recordings will be from the 80s, and some will be from the 2010s.
Now I'm pretty new to collecting soundboards and what-not, so if anyone could recommend what they consider to be the best version of a certain song (and preferably, how this recording can be obtained). Obviously, this is a pretty big project so it would be great if this could be a collaborative effort. Hopefully, this thread can be a resource in the future to anyone looking for the best live recordings. Thanks very much!! |
I'll get the ball rolling with the easy points. These ones have only ever been played live once.
These Arms Are Open All Night from Borgata Events Center, Atlantic City NJ, November 21, 2004 Available on an unofficial DVD release, it's also on YouTube. Only In My Dreams from same as above. Love Ain't Nothing But A Four Letter Word from same as above. Open All Night #2 from same as above. Why Aren't You Dead from same as above. Thief of Hearts from Borgata 2003. TLFR DVD I believe. Sylvia's Mother (Dr. Hook cover) from same as above. |
Say Goodbye To Hollywood (Billy Joel cover, incomplete but still good)thanks to bonjovi90, Rdkopper and Tom K on the youtube thread for this.

If you are talking audio, I
did something very similar... I created a Live Album for each Album... it's mostly soundboards but I'll use bootlegs to fill in the rare stuff... I got lazy with the Lost Highway live Album and just pulled the Chicago show from the DVD... I want to go back on that one and pull in some different performances... Same with this recent album, just using London... You always run into those situations in quality of performance verses quality of sound... for example, is it better to use a Bootleg of Jon singing Wild Is The Wind back in 1991 or a soundboard of an acoustic version of Jon singing it in 2010??? I ran into that situation with some songs off of Blaze too... I'll usually just include both because at the end if the day, I'm the only one listening to it all anyway!!! Overall I'm pretty happy with it but it's a constant work in progress... I'm constantly finding better qualities in terms of sound and performance... |

The I'll Be There For You from Giants Stadium is hands down the best version ever however the SBD Version is missing about 20 seconds of the best part but you can hear it in the AUD version... Such a shame!!!

Any chance you could please tell me some of the best places to find these soundboards are? I don't have anything in the way of a collection in terms of live stuff.
