Hey, Savvi! I assume that you've heard nothing further about an Australian tour or you would have posted already. But I just had a thought. Is there any chance that the guys behind the rumor could be talking about Jon doing the Grand Final, instead of the band. It's an unlikely scenario, I guess; but that might make more sense if there's a Runaway tie-in.

Hey Jackie! Yeh I haven't heard a thing! I keep googling and checking emails multiple times a day to make sure I haven't missed anything .

It is possible that it might not be a full blown tour and that they were indeed just referring to the AFL Grand Final. I doubt that would be the case though? I just want more info and I want it now! haha

Savvi 06-14-2018 08:23 AM

I messaged for more information. They said “there have been some delays but you’ll find out tomorrow morning”

Woo!

jazzsta 06-14-2018 10:33 AM

which for people in US would rather mean today :D

JackieBlue 06-14-2018 05:40 PM

Thanks for the update! (And for the time-difference reminder. I tend to forget about that!) :)

It’s Bon Jovi
RT trip is for this:

Sáb. 08/DIC Sydney, Australia ANZ Stadium

brunorc21 06-14-2018 11:43 PM

4 dates in Australia so far...

https://www.smh.com.au/entertainment...14-p4zlhy.html

Zacm95 06-15-2018 02:34 AM

Well this is exciting. I’d love to go but I don’t think I can justify 1500 on flights from America.

Savvi 06-15-2018 02:49 AM

December tour... but no Perth date :(

1/12/2018 - Melbourne - Melbourne Cricket Ground
4/12/2018 - Adelaide - Adelaide Botanic Park
6/12/2018 - Brisbane - QSAC Stadium
8/12/2018 - Sydney - Sydney ANZ Stadium

I might try do Sydney.

They didn’t announce a Perth date last tour but added one last minute.

I’m glad they’re Stadium shows.

SuperBrad 06-15-2018 03:49 AM

Hopefully they throw in a Perth for you mate ;) Im gonna try for a single ticket up front for sydney i think .... top tix are 515$ it seems . Im sure will be more through fan club .... im not gonna fall for that bullshit again . Been there done that ! For the circle tour I bought thousands of dollars of tix in the circle which was fantastic but a friend got one on day of gig for a quarter of the price i paid . Anyway, im excited and will see how the presales go ;) not even contemplating runaway package .....

Frizz 06-15-2018 03:54 AM

Argh! MCG in Melbourne. Admittedly I haven't been to a show there for quite a while but the sound is shocking. I wonder if that's why the AFL grand final rumors started - same venue? Shame it's not at the music bowl, that was a great concert.

Don't know if the finances will stretch to Jovi tickets, which is a shame as I have been to almost every tour since Slippery when wet 1987. Damn kids and cost of living. But I would love to see Phil live. May take a bit of convincing the other half.

Shame about Perth.

SuperBrad 06-15-2018 04:47 AM

Yeah I would have preferred indoor venues .... Not a fan of ANZ stadium in Sydney.... plus I think its a little too big for Bon Jovi nowadays....

Zacm95 06-15-2018 06:09 AM

2000 dollars per person for the Runaway Tours package without airfare? That is insane!

It’s the first album without the band’s famed guitarist Richie Sambora in the line-up, meaning it’ll be the first time they’ll play in Australia with his replacement, Phil X, on the lead guitar.

I wonder how much tickets they will sell.
Could it be something like 48000/55000 total or am I overestimating

id say you were.

How big are the venues they are playing?

I dont see this band selling out any 40,000+ venues unless there was one show in the entire country.

The only way it'll stop is if people stopping buying these packages - which they don't.

kenobi_on_a_prayer 06-15-2018 11:39 AM

Disappointed there's no Perth. We have a new stadium, but I'd be happy for them to play Perth Arena.

I did the two Melbourne shows last time, plus Perth when they added it, so I'll probably try to get to the Sydney show this time.

Some fans totally embarrass themselves in order to get this close.
I was at the Palladium show in London and saw a few of these people and I thought youve more money than sense.
I wouldnt pay £1 to meet anyone. Let alone £2000.
Yes JBJ is one of my idols and ive bought enough of his products to warrant a free handshake.

Of course, they will. They sell out every show they book. Someone here posted that during the i-Heart Rock Icon show Jon said that they had already sold out all 30 shows in the US for this last tour. (Ocean-front property in Nebraska, anyone?)

The arenas are all the same - only the seating capacities will change. Every tour, it seems they're wasting away. ;)

BJFan99 06-15-2018 08:17 PM

The Brisbane show will undoubtedly be compared to 2013... :D Is there any possibility for it to be even slightly better this time around?

https://youtu.be/5i-v3pSCVw8

How I wish this show had never been performed, let alone recorded professionally. It was a f*cking disaster and by far one of the worst shows I've ever heard any band or artist give. Jon's voice was absolutely wrecked; Bad Name, IML, KTF, ITA and Prayer sounded shockingly bad. On the other hand, TD and Always were actually halfway decent in comparison.

I agree 1000%! Doing a Runaway Tour to stand by “the man” for 5 seconds for a photo and then moved along - well I would be humiliated to spend that much money. And yes, he should be shaking hands for FREE for all the money his fans have spent on him!!!

And to do a Runaway Tour at a stadium show??? If I were to spend the money, I’d rather have it be an intimate show for 200 - 300 people like JBJ does instead for these events.

Plus I don’t need the fancy hotel, party crap dancing to BJ music, touring a city and the merchandise (a pre-signed pic!!!). For the price charged JBJ better let me sit on his lap and sing just to me! Lol!!!

Yes, these Runaway events will happen as long as there is demand. And I hear it’s the same ladies most of the time?! SMH!!

(I’m not usually this negative but these Runaway trips make me cringe.)

Right but end of the day enough people are finding value in it. We can scoff at it all we want but people are finding happiness doing what most of would find an obscene amount of money. They wouldn't do it if people wouldn't happily consider it a personal vacation and pay.

I remember lying in bed at 3 am watching the live stream and not believing it wasn’t being cut off. Man, I felt bad for JBJ, but I guess he just doesn’t give up. Don’t think that’s a good trait anymore. I personally would have so much removed from You Tube! I love JBJ and don’t want others to get to know or remember a performance like this.

I certainly feel for him losing his voice and it cannot be enjoyable for him to sing like that. He’s such a great entertainer. Wish he could still entertain but just do it not by singing. [emoji22]

Very true. I’m happy for them and understand that they make friendships through the trips. That’s what great about the power of music.

I prefer to pay for row five in an arena and enjoy a show that close. I was lucky - they came to St Paul this year and last year.

In 2013 in Lincoln, NE I could have touched JBJ on purpose but refrained while he sang 4 songs on the catwalk. That was close enough for me! But actually did touch him by accident, though. I had my hands up and put them down right when he started to walk back to the main stage. His leg hit my hand hard and I felt so bad for about tripping him.

Matt tweeted about 9.30pm est - Record SellOut time on the Oz Runaway show! People are willing to pay it.
Honestly, if I could afford it, I would just to say I had.
Wonder if they will add another since it sold this quickly?

It does amaze me how much money people are willing to pay in order to meet a celebrity. I've never done it, and I don't think I ever would.
It's not only these sort of concert deals, it's things like Comic Cons and so on. Although with most of those you're paying for an autograph.
We used to have one regularly in Milton Keynes, and I always went, in the hope of catching a glimpse, but also quickly discovered that these celebs are more than happy to just spend time chatting to you if their queue is quiet. My family and I have had photos and chats with darts players, footballers, wrestlers and a few actors, and not paid a penny...

Fortune favours the brave!!!

I was also lucky that I had the opportunity to spend some time with Jon back in 1996 when filming The Leading Man. And we're not taking about just being in the same building - I spent a good while chatting with him. Again, didn't cost me a penny and I'm in the film too! That was a little bit different though.

Then there's flash in the pan moments, where you don't think something could happen and it does. My wife and I went to the CD:UK special in London when Bounce came out. We were separated for the filming as I'm pretty tall, not to mention male, and that's not what they wanted on screen. Anyway, last song was Wanted and as they all left the stage, Jon looked over at my wife, reached out his hand across everyone else, grabbed her hand and subtly handed her his guitar pic.

Sure you get a hotel, party, blah blah blah, but lets be honest. Most of us wouldn't want anything to do with 99% of people that attend these gatherings. Imagine being stuck around them for 48 hours...

kenobi_on_a_prayer 06-18-2018 02:59 PM

Ended up rejoining the fanclub and buying a ticket for Sydney during my lunch break today. I was going to wait for the Ticketek presale but I figured sweating on Ticketek when I was at work would just cause me undue stress.

Top price (no package) for Sydney was about $360 AUD.

A couple of friends of mine got tix for Melbourne and Adelaide, and they said the top ticket price for Adelaide was around $500.

Still hoping they add Perth though!

Reminds me of an enormous sacrifice I once made to get a Bon Jovi ticket: the online sale was scheduled to start shortly after my workday did -- so I got to work ON TIME!
:-D

Got my Sydney ticket today. I have a friend who wants to go see them in Adelaide and it's taking everything in me to say no. I cannot cave! I don't have the money

Does anyone think they’ll add a second Sydney show?

I’m surprised by how fast it’s selling.....there’s only single seats left anywhere decent.

I think it will happen. It happened earlier this year when they added a second Montreal date because of the high demand. They'll be playing even less shows later in the year so I think that they'll most probably add a second show.

The tickets haven't even gone on sale to the general public yet (just over an hour til they are released). So there can't be single seats left, unless you're looking at the presale allocated seats?

Adelaide
A Reserve - $518
B Reserve - $310
C Reserve - $206
General Admission - $102

Brisbane

The presale was either through Telstra or visa...so pretty much everyone. The presage has finished now and it’s still only single seats available. I’m surprised it’s sold so well given how expensive the tickets are
