The last two shows with the videos...wow. Hope they now travel to Europe again but without a cold or hay fever. Couple of more new songs and that set is perfect. Jon looks like he is loving performing again and I tell you what, I'm a massive Richie fan too but I'm not missing him. Phil X absolutely rocks, fresh playing and still looks like he just loves the fact he is up there. Jon clearly loves him too with all the interaction. Jons voice is pretty decent, a lot of the famous stars voices are just as shot and are auto tuned even more, hopefully Europe is a sensible schedule with fantastic shows!
And what was going on with the girl in BOR? Must have known her, very physical! |

Symbeline, thanks for the video links. Wow. He's singing not whispering through the verses. Up until the last couple shows (and except for Bed of Roses), I didn't think he was THAT much better than the NA leg. But he flipped some kind of switch last night. Markedly better. That was awesome.

I guess Jon's vocals are a lot more important to me than to most of you. And they're still shit. So ultimately, I don't find these videos very satisfying. That Always version wasn't any better than LA forum.
But I'm glad that Jon does seem more "into it" and these past couple of shows are better received here. |

https://youtu.be/aSUPM1Pf1hs (Paul probably at his '17 best). https://youtu.be/IUDDo99vb6U (Jon probably at his '17 worst - and yes, he's definitely sounding better than Stanley). Also, Jon's vocals aren't auto-tuned/playback at all, except for the high note on Prayer. |
Walleris is right. If his perfoming like this on every show like everyone wishes here, then the voice will become more shittier than ever. This one and the RIR are both good, but if Jon is gonna keep doing this, it might be 2015 again. Let's just hope he'll play it safe on the next shows. As much as I've enjoyed the band during this leg, we should not forgot the man's limits.

Haha, what the **** is happening? For brief moments it felt like watching a clip from 2011. It's so obvious that Jon's vocal problems is a confidence problem. The way he worked the stage on Bad Name and Prayer, I haven't seen that in so many years. And his vocls? What is happening? It's a little rough at some times, but at some moments I really got some serious shivers. BOR and man, even These Days sounded great. Prayer that he usually has a hard time to manage sounded decent.
Also, there's a lot of talk about Jon. But what a band this is. I love Richie to death, but Bon Jovi 2.0 is starting to both look and sound like a great, great band. If this is what the future holds, bring it on! What a great way to start the day |
To be honest, every performance of Always in this tour so far has been pretty cringeworthy, and those of BOR that aren't in Spanish. But the fact that he did not shorten the high notes on that song in Sao Paulo, just wow. And as for Always, he handled the first chorus and the bridge much better, but the rest of the song remained a butcherfest.
I also have to hand it down to Jon for TD. Sure, the choruses leave a lot to be desired, but he's pretty much in control of the verses, and unlike Argentina where he did away with the last few lines, he went for "AIN'T NOBODY LEFT BUT US THESE DAYS." And got away with it. |
