I’m sure if another opportunity came up he would persue it. I don’t believe he has completely written off his ‘dream’.

According to this clip, he definitely seems to be aware of his biggest weakness. Unless he’s acting, he got quite emotional talking about it at one point.

what was the question? and what did Jon answer? I am a bit lost.

Wow that really was sincere and honest. Props to him for talking about it in that way.

He was asked what was the thing that was still out of Jon’s reach which he would like to do.. Jon answered that he would like to sing that good every night, and that’s all he really cares about. He says that’s he working harder now than at any point in his career, just because his fans deserve it.

He really did. By now it's clear that Jon is fully aware of his vocal problems and inconsistency as a singer ("I want to be able to sing this good every night..."). He's clearly feeling really, really bad about it - and I think that's a part of what made him cry in the video.
