I keep checking this thread thinking there's been some development or actual analysis of the new song. Instead we're sh*tting on Queen, Zeppelin and the Stones - all bands more critically acclaimed and influential than Jovi. Let's just be grateful that our band is being accepted, and in theory immortalised by their induction, into the Rn'R Hall with other greats.
As for WWWU; it's about as good as anything on THINFS - barring BAT and DITT imo. The solo is a typical '10s style Jovi solo - comparable to that in Knockout. Born Again Tomorrow and All Hail The King had the most interesting guitar work in THINFS, so I hope for more in that vein for Walls. There is a somewhat Springsteen-esque air about the song. That xylophone or glockenspiel during the "woooh oh oooh oh's" at the end are a nice touch. Vocally, it sounds a little more assured than 2016 Jon. I'd just wished they'd taken advantage of the slight improvement in his upper range from the SA tour onwards. Either way, I'm pretty content with the song and keep returning to it - singing along. Bon Jovi were never really a heavy band, so at this point in their career, if there's a good dose of sincerity and a decent hook then I'm in.
But let's hope "Walls" IS about the political situation and not referencing the production style ;)
