Im not into nostalgia acts.

My mates go and see bands where there are 1 original members - im like, why?

Vocally I think he absolutely is. He's taking the place of Bobby's voice.

I'm a little angry with Jon for not releasing Rage of Angels and All We Are.

Captain_jovi 02-23-2018 06:02 PM

Angry is such an intense feeling for a song you probably think would suck.

That's bullshit. It's like being angry that about 150+ other songs from their career have never been released.

Please don't ask for full versions of songs to be posted here.

Although it's a cool title, it's still a post 2015 song... Sometimes Dreams and bigger than Reality

Random thoughts after the first couple listens of Walls:

• the guitar intro gives me a deja vu feeling; still I haven't figured it out which song reminds me
• "mountains to climb" is the new "get up off your knees"
• I love during the outro when the synths morph into the "Waaaalls" backing vocals

Guitar intro sounds exactly like Richie on learning how to fly with a broken wing

Maybe a little of Summer of Love from U2

Jeeper 02-24-2018 12:17 AM

Walls is actually decent. The rehashed lyrics don’t bother me as much as the lack of guitars in the chorus. Simple power chords high in the mix would give the vocals some extra push. The solo is very melodic but as previously stated, is a waste of Phil X’s talents.

Still, it’s a much better song than WWWU.

They're officially released, just buy them or listen to them on spotify ;)

rokenrola 02-24-2018 03:14 PM

when we were us solid, good,I give 3 from 1 to 5,walls is better 3,5.
overall good new music, nothing special or spectacular and I dont see similarities with Imagine Dragons, they have much more sinthetic sound a drums specially.

Savvi 02-24-2018 04:29 PM

I really like Walls, particularly the chorus. The music and melody is what's best (I actually really like when the band does a more synth sound).

The bridge is horrid and unimaginative. Solo is meh. Lyrics are a rehash, but I can look past that cos I do quite enjoy the chorus.

The official version of WWWU sounds like it has less "oomph" than the radio rip. Odd.

rolo_tomachi 02-24-2018 05:24 PM

Does anyone have tidal and can rip or record with a phone the video?

rolo_tomachi 02-24-2018 08:40 PM

When do you think there will be a new Bon Jovi album? I suppose that after the summer they could go through some European countries, but maybe they do not. If they are not on tour, there will be a rest period where Jon could be start composing and maybe the first recording sessions could happen in early 2019, this could lead to an album by the end of 2019 or somewhere in 2020. Or maybe there's a period of 2 years of inactivity, and nothing will come out until 2021-2022.

Thoughts

I think that they won't tour Europe in 2018 or 2019. They will probably rest after this leg of THINFS tour and start recording a new album in mid or late 2019. They'll start touring probably in 2020 and they'll come to Europe when.

I don't think there'll be much activity from the band after the US leg/Hall of Fame this year. I can't see any European dates happening in the near future, at least not until a new album may be released.
Though I stick with my feeling that they may call it quites (at least in terms of touring) after this US leg.

If they retire after this US leg, this'll be a big f*ck you to the European fans who stuck together with the band when the Amercan fans went with the Grunge movement in the early 90s.

Is it terrible for me to think that if they quit touring then I don’t have to watch anymore vocal decline and can save my money on tickets?! I’m still tempted to see them live even in their current state!

I think it would be the first cycle album / Tour that Bon Jovi does not come to Europe in its history. Something strange. and thinking well, neither Japan nor Australia.

Yeah and that (to me) shows that he feels he can't go for a proper tour anymore. In late 2016 he said that the first US leg will be a tryout to see if he can still do it and we only got a handful of dates in South America afterwards. This time around the dates didn't show up until the Hall of Fame announcement (if I'm not mistaken) and Jon said that this was just supposed to be their victory lap. Furthermore, Matt stated that (due to logistics?) European dates didn't work out this year and I can't see them going on tour in 2019 for an album that got released in 2016. So yeah, I guess it really is the first album cycle that wasn't carried on tour in Europe and Japan.

So *logistics* is the new "my dog ate my homework?"

Matt would be more helpful if he shut his trap. Nobody believes that ridiculous excuse. As you said Jon has already stated that they'll take it one step at a time. Fans are more likely to believe him if he uses that as a reason ("2-3 months of touring the same continent is what works better for us now, sorry to disappoint you folks, we'll see you as soon as we can") than the "They know we would play to empty stadiums so the promoters are offering us shitty money for an arena tour since everybody is on the road this year, errr I mean logistics".

DryCounty 02-25-2018 02:22 AM

I honestly can say that I love Walls. What a great track! And hats off to Shanks for the production. The drums are huge and the entire sound is very "mighty". The chorus really hits you when it takes off. My only complain is that the "oh" part in the outro should have been louder in the mix.

I hope they will play it live on the tour!

So, what's the lyric in When We Were Us?

"Writing every page together, those days were NOT to last forever..."???

If so, it just seems off.

He misses the camaraderie Richie and he used to have, both as performers and as songwriters. And he's put it into honest words.

Well yes, I get that.

I think it's the usage of the word "off" there that seems awkward.
