Why do you feel sorry? (genuinely curious)

I'd feel sorry if there was a clear reason as to why his voice has declined to basically gone in 5 years. Yes, it's not gone, yes he can do a *jungle noise*, yes there are way worse singers. But he's lost all control over his voice which in my book equals to losing his voice.

By all accounts, this happened because of all the years of abuse and not taking proper care/not working enough on it. Therefore I don't feel sorry.

If we knew there's a real physical reason behind it, he's done everything he could, etc. I would be really sorry. Getting old and becoming a pale imitation of your former self sucks. But then I remember all the smoking, all the cocky "we don't rehearse" attitude and I can't feel sorry. I feel angry this is how BJ will end

I was expecting that These Days to be an awful lot worse. It's of the current level of his vocals, and I'd much rather he'd give a shit version of These Days than a shit version of WLOL or I Love This Town etc..

Calling anything "good" is a readjustment of expectations as even the best current day vocal is worse than even the worst 2013 and before vocal. But I'm glad he added that and BoB to the set, better to butcher some good songs and give at least some enjoyment than just butcher the same old shit.

Plus the Richie being there thing, he'd have never got on stage, it's giving away the payoff for the Rock Hall. Be interesting if he makes an appearance at a show post-Rock Hall.

So Richie was really there and they missed the opportunity to play IBTFY, WLOL and Memory?

Would've been great to debut their I Love This Richie

Ok, I'll see myself out...

Jon sounded way worse/more unpleasant in September-December 2013 overall than he does now. I'm glad the nasality he still displayed back then is gone by now (for the most part anyway).

For me, his current vocals are around the level of mid-to-late July '13 - shit, but not as shit as they'd become later.

Is there any real confirmation that Richie was there or just that photo which is not conclusive? (at least for me)

I’m sorry because I want him to do well. This band has been a big part of my life. I don’t want them to sound like this or quit on a low.

Fair enough, I feel the same

Which is a point that quite a lot of people miss. People aren't trashing the band for no good reason- we've seen them many times over the years, we want them the best they can be. Same with the setlist "moans". No-one can hand on hard say the setlists are acceptable with this bands back catalogue, look how just adding These Days and Blood on Blood piques a bit of interest.

Yep, this is the way I see it. However, I think after the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame my Jovi days might be over.
What made me become a fan was the chemistry between Jon and Richie in the first place as well as with Tico and Dave and the fact that they had some untouchable magic to their live shows.
When Richie left, I didn't want to give up on them because, as Thierry also said, they've been a big part of my life and I wanted them to do well. Still do, actually.
But in the last 5 years everything the band was about - from the charisma, the energy live and in the music to a guitarist and a singer that could take a concert to a different level - it's all gone.
When I came on there this morning and I saw people hyping up These Days as such an outstanding performance, I was keen on checking it out, still hoping that the old spark had come back. What I saw was a poor performance of a song that, especially in live performances, used to mean the world to me, more thatn anything in the way of how Jon controlled the verses and delivered them. Nothing of that was in there anymore.

I don't mean to spoil the fun for anyone and if people can actually still enjoy this, go for it and have the time of your life (really no irony in here). I've had some of the best concert moments of my life at Jovi shows, some nights I'll never forget. However, during the last year I've started to realize that all the joy I had gotten from these concerts is starting to fade and blur more and more as I see what they are now. And I don't want these memories to fade.
It's been a great ride nonetheless :)

maybe this is how it will end because of its past?? maybe his voice is shot because every freakin record he pushed his voice to his limit, making it unsustainable during live shows? i don't think if he took care of his voice loap, always, stbi (hell even it's my life was so high for him at that time, just listen to how much strain is put into during the registrations) and so on would have ever been recorded, would you still like them the same without all of that?? idk i feel that maybe he's just done man...i agree he could have been more careful about this and that but how many years would have he added to his career?? 2? 3? this man is in the middle of his THIRD voice crysis, this is not only about smoking and so on. still, i was watching some videos from night 2 it's not that bad c'mon, this is 2018 not 1992
