Nope, WWWU was not played.

Zakatar 04-09-2018 07:52 AM

Probably to make room for the epic encore (I mean come on, how many of us were expecting These Days to make an appearance?)!

BJFan99 04-09-2018 09:34 AM

Holy motherf*cking shit. I never thought Jon would have a These Days performance like this left in himself anymore:

https://youtu.be/214GSB3ZcQM

Miles better than Sao Paulo or the later 2013 renditions - MILES better. Goddammit, Jon... you're still the man!

NicoRourke 04-09-2018 09:57 AM

Jesus Hector Christ, I'm so positively surprised to see this!
First of all, great encore.
Now, it's difficult for him on the chorus, but boy you got to give it to JBJ, the man does not surrender easily. Or at all.

BJFan99 04-09-2018 10:08 AM

My prediction:

Walleris comes here next with his 120% unsustainable statements. Then bonjovi90 gives the performance a short review, something like "it sucked less than last year's performances overall". Then Seb comes and says that the performance was flat out awful. Then Rolo says "it was not awful", then Rdkopper says "it really wasn't" and then there begins a war between them three - which Seb wins with his unsurpassed analogical arguments and use of detailed language, of course. :D

BJFan99 04-09-2018 10:09 AM

By the way, does anyone really agree with me that the performance was really GOOD for Jon's current (or post-mid-2013) standards?

BJFan99 04-09-2018 10:21 AM

Jon went nuts during his introduction to Runaway:

https://youtu.be/f6rco_0i6C0

I simply love seeing THIS guy again! :D

jovifan93 04-09-2018 10:25 AM

Wow, that was very good indeed (for 2013-2018 standards). If that's how Jon sounds like after a flu, he ought to have one more often ;-) No, just kidding. Who knows what's the reason, but I'd take BJ sounding like this any other day.

EDIT: better vid of TD:

steel_horse75 04-09-2018 10:28 AM

Sounds like a good show. [emoji869]

BJFan99 04-09-2018 10:31 AM

Bed Of Roses was f*cking awesome as well:

Listened to These Days this morning, man you guys have lowered your standards. Kudos to Jon for trying it but it’s terrible. It’s so slow and he can’t carry the verses anymore either. On the other side, Phil doesn’t have the chops to play this song properly either.

I was so hoping to get a positve comment from you here...I cant listen to it as I am at work but listening to the Bremen 2000 concert last night brought me back to that night which probably madem me delusional and sentimental

Bon Jovi THINFS 2018 - These Days - Pru Center Night 2 - YouTube

Its cool that he tried it but he sounded terrible ! If you think that sounded good you are ****ing deaf . The intro to runaway and Richie being side of stage was the only good thing about that show

Thanks for analyzing my ears, but they work just fine ;-) Of course it's all relative, but this performance is actually pretty good for JBJ post 2013. The same goes for Wanted for example, where he's not just whispering the verses anymore, but singing. Is it perfect? No. But is it way better than 2017 and actually listenable? F*** yeah!

I thought it was OK for what the band are now. Nothing amazing but was nice to hear.

If Richie was there im really surprised he didnt join in for Wanted.

DavetheGodofKeys 04-09-2018 12:19 PM

Prayer from last night:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?t=425s&v=5js0rrOZ8Mg

There was a small f*ck-up before the solo. The guys behind the stage don't lower Jon's mic and he is heard the butchering the high note before the solo.

Jon even used rasp on the " I want to be " part after the last "bed of naaaails". :)

And he actually held that note at the end...Jon didn't do that in SP and Las Vegas. Not to mention he was pretty consistent on that song.

Xavi 04-09-2018 12:59 PM

Just watched videos of Runaway,TDays,Bad Name,Prayer and Bed of Roses and yes,Jon has greatly improved his voice.
It is not what should be,but it is not last years. It is closer to 2013 than to 2017.
It is not painful to listen to him singing the verses of Prayer as last years.I think hes doing a great job recovering his voice and now you can see he more confident on stage than suffering glued to the mic stand.
By the way, that Bed of Roses was really really good.

Agreed! This just shows how badly Richie's skills are needed in some songs. And the vocals were overall actually pretty bad.

Rdkopper 04-09-2018 01:27 PM

I was there in person and it was all fantastic... I'll listen to some YouTube Vids later...

Blood On Blood:

https://youtu.be/PgGw3n3IOLM

I bet it hurts the mic stand to get gripped like that... :D

By the way, it's really confusing how Jon struggled much more on the verses than on the choruses of both BOB and TD.

Thinny 04-09-2018 02:20 PM

From the footage I've seen this seemed like a great show for Jon, by 2018 standards at least. I'm sure he had something to prove with Richie being in the audience!

This is another reason why YT vids are misleading. Jon was squeezing in two songs before the curfew and needed to still get in Wanted and Prayer... They were a little rushed so Jon standing at the mic really wasn't an issue...

Don't understand how Jon standing at the mic as opposed to not would save any time!?

They weren't meant for performance with jumping jacks... Jon was just cranking out songs...

Pretty weird excuse: "I had not planned these so I don't move on them either."
Does he have to rehearse walking around by now? It's not like the songs get faster because he keeps standing at the mic while singing them.

From what I've read he must've been very interactive and enjoying himself, but that just doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

I'd say the only thing that's misleading are those who've been to the show, say he sounded good and get then proven wrong by actual footage of the show which clearly shows he's flat, out of key, out of sync, out of breath and out of touch with what a vocalist is supposed to sound like. I'd say it's misleading to have people come up with silly excuses as to saying "he was just cramming out songs" so that's why he's gripping the mike when he'd never done this before. I'd say that's a lot more misleading than a video of a guy who grips the mike like no other and subsequently still sounds rubbish.

Anyone with a bit of a musical ear and knowledge as to what in and off key is is supposed to realize this is garbage, and every single youTube video is proof of that. For every note he hits there's 2 he skips. Saying it's good for 2017 standards means nothing, it's not like 2017 had a standard anyway. If there's so much improvement and if he's really on the right track why does he get run over every single song on every single show? You can't improve and stand still at the same time.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

I agree with this. Although like I said kudos to him for trying. I’m also waiting for him to drop Bad Medicine as he sounds atrocious on that one. I saw him sing that in London 2 years back and it was laughable.

Me too, listening to Jon's vocals.

WhamATC 04-09-2018 04:00 PM

Jon wasn't really flat at all on the first verse of TD but yes he still avoided or missed some notes.
Didn't measure the other verses and chorus though.
I think TD is one of those songs that has been downtuned a full step since the beginning (1995) and not 1 half step.

Wrong half a step as well. They lowered the backing vocals though.

How does it even make sense?

Jon is a professional singer with 30+ years of experience. Making excuses for him is both pathetic and kind of amusing at this point

Exactly it doesn’t make sense at all. I feel sorry for him as he put a lot of energy in the shows again, but the voice isn’t there anymore.

TD was bad, very bad. I'm actually thankful they play it so infrequently, hearing the atrocious vocals and the butchering of the solo breaks my heart. My fvcking favorite song ruined *goes to cry in a corner*

I used to think that I'll only go see BJ live if Jon and Richie reunited, I'd even pay whatever outrageous price they asked, but they are done, both of them, together and separate. I want to keep my good memories intact.
