You can only judge what you see, and for those not there it's setlists and video. Despite not being there, I can call a setlist garbage and that opinion is valid, just as someone who was there can enjoy the show. I enjoy every bj show I've been to, it wouldn't offend me that people on the internet thought it was no good. You can still admit there are flaws to the band whilst enjoying it. This notion that unless everything is amazing then you're a hater is patently immature and not exactly in line with a discussion forum.

Anyway, good to see some small setlist changes here and there, that's what we want to see. It's nowhere near enough but it's good that Jon is chucking a few more out there. See, if the Americans had bought these days back in the 90s you wouldn't have been deprived of the songs for so long :p

You're crazy. Phil only handles about half the solos, and they are nothing to brag about. Phil is a hard rock guitarist. He lacks the bluesy ability of Richie, lacks the vocals, and lacks the commrodory with Jon on stage. To say nothing about Richie as a songwriter.

I don't wanna crap on Phil, because he is very good at his job in what is a very tough position to be, but if HOF performance proved one thing, is that even this drunk and sloppy version of Richie still enhances live performances more than Phil. And when Jon is no longer the singer nor the frontman we know and love, Richie is needed more than ever. And I still hate hits guts for the way he left 5 years ago, I also think RSO stuff is mostly crap and his solo live performances have been quite embarrassing, but as far as Bon Jovi goes, that's just facts.

Actually, he doesn't. For whatever reason those bitching about me are often coming up with stuff I don't do, which really leaves for a poor argument and kind of showcases their bitching is based upon nothing but frustration about the things I say as it probably rings true to a truth they find hard to admit exists.

The only ones spreading negative energy are the kind like you, telling others what to say and do, which leaves little room for debate. Your numerous attacks on various users is exactly the behavior you accuse these "experts" of. Becky just posted her biggest post review in a long, long time. Now read it again and see how much was about the music and how much was about the show element of a Bon Jovi show. It's what symbelline is on about, I reckon. Jon's supposedly got his groove back but all he's changed is throwing a whole bunch of extra smiles, winks and high fives with the crowd. All while still sounding like a strangled cat. It seems to work though, because his loyal fanbase cares for this shit and eats it up like hot cakes.

I honestly can't imagine anyone saying Phil X sounds great when doing solo's. Whenever Richie used to do a solo the song would take off. When Phil's doing a solo the song comes to a crashing halt. His solo's don't serve the music, they're there because a guitar solo is needed. Like danfan says, he's missing the bluesy feeling, but he's also just not able to compose a decent solo by himself.

But god forbid people on here actually question ones opinion on something, you're automatically blasted by people like rokenrola and the likes because they seem to feel attacked and offended on a personal level. They act as if their entire identity is questioned when really all I do is wonder what attracts you to a guitarist who sounds nothing like Richie Sambora and the sound attached to Bon Jovi. If you really can't deal with opinions stop posting your shit on the internet.

Oh, finally a string of posts I can second in a heartbeat! Thank you guys, it was loud and clear!

People who don’t go to shows and criticize them say that anyone who enjoys a show must be some screaming female who only cares about Jon’s looks. I, for one, have never fit that description. There is no way in hell I would pay for tickets, travel costs (gas, flights, hotel accommodations), endure travel misery, or use my TWO personal days allotted per school year if I wanted to LOOK at Jon. I can look at him for free in my own home by pulling up a video on YouTube.

I don’t pay for or make an effort to do something that I don’t enjoy. If a nonessential something or someone causes me to feel more negativity than positivity, I can cut them out of my life. That comes to TV shows, music, and people.

I was just trying to lighten the mood a little. Since you had just said something to Becky, much like what people were complaining about, I picked on you. But if you were offended (perhaps by your own confrontation with a kernel of truth), I apologize. No offense was intended.

I, among most others here, have never fit that description. So, if you are going to complain about people who generalize the characteristics of "some" to include an entire group, then maybe a good place to start would be by not doing the same thing yourself.

I don't think that YOU (or others, like Deb or Kathleen, for example) would go to shows just to look at Jon. But if you've read many of the comments from a lot of other fans, I don't think you can seriously deny that that there ARE those who do exactly that - or seem to, based on the way they are totally focused on Jon and how hot he is, almost to the exclusion of anything or anyone else involved. I would go so far as to say, from my own observation, that a good chunk of the band's fans (male or female), or those who post reviews anyway, react that way. From your post about Nick and Lori's comments on Volume, even THEY spent more time talking about how hot Jon is, or how well he's aged, than they did about the new music they were supposed to be promoting. And if I'm not mistaken, one of them is male.

Stereotypes exist for a reason, and like it or not, there are a lot of fans who ARE primarily invested in Jon or in his looks. I can only see one of two reasons why this is such a hot button for you. It seems like you are either concerned that people will think YOU fit into that category (which doesn't seem to be the case for most of the people here), or you resent the hell out of the females who have given Bon Jovi fans a bad name by contributing to the stereotype. Either way I, for one, would appreciate it if you wouldn't take your frustration out on the people who post on this board by labeling them as "sexist" just because they imply that music is not the primary interest of SOME of the female Bon Jovi fans. Not only is it inaccurate, but it also trivializes the real problem with sexism which, imo, goes much deeper than the way someone views the fans of some band.
