My stream wasn’t the best quality. But that sounded surprisingly good compared to the attempts last year

Blood on Blood! Glad St. Paul is getting a decent show. :)

Awesome encore! :D However, the main set still needs work. I mean, get rid of WLOL, WWBTF, WSYCGH and WGIGO and replace them with some honestly good album tracks/rarities (Older, Radio, Last Man and LTOR, for example), and the whole setlist will be immense.
|
If they are gonna play Dry County or even Hey God then it's gonna probably be in one of their Canada shows maybe Montreal.

Jon sounded damn good on IBTFY:
https://youtu.be/zdzyx75jPGs Especially that long "or there when you were doooooowwwn..." sounds great! He also did unexpectedly well on KTF: https://youtu.be/irIA99Bkcq8 Face it, Jon's not 100% done. His voice is still shot for the most part which is a shame of course, but it's not unlistenable like it was in late 2013-early 2017, and now that he's again the frontman he used to be, I'm happy with this version of Bon Jovi overall. |

Can't wait to see Runaway, BOR, LYHOM, BOB and Prayer, seems like it was a great night for Jon.

I'll Be There For You was decent during the first 3 minutes and then at the third verse Jon completely fell apart and sounded terribly even on the chorus (which he sounded OK-ish the first 2 times). Which once again proves my '120% theory' :D
It's still good that they did this song and it should be done more often. It doesn't sound like a complete trainwreck and is a massive hit. |
Very rarely I comment on Jon's voice having improved (because it hasn't) BUT that IBTFY was actually more than decent. I really enjoyed the performance very much. That song should be a staple, it's just a terrific live song and the entire audience knows it.

https://youtu.be/Lwo32m40a9w His tone is still rough and fragile, but this year he sounds way more natural/"like himself" and lately seems to have regained some range that he mostly lacked last year as well. https://youtu.be/jo4gINIQyV8 |
The first few bars of Shanks' KTF solo were like having Bobby back in the house haha not to jinx anything but things do seem to be getting better. I'm not sure if they've changed the key of IBTFY or whether Jon's just singing more of it an octave down than I remember before but whichever, it's working.
|
On another note: HAND dropped again? I wouldn't mind except there's a whole bunch of regular songs to drop first - Born to Follow, WGIGO, LH (I actually like Lost Highway, but it doesn't need to be in every night)
|
I thought IBTFY sounded very good. Obviously could be better but it certainly wasn't horrible.

But to answer your question, yes, it has improved since the NA Leg last year. and that IBTFY was a very pleasant surprise. |
Awesome show!
I’ll be there for you (missed a little, was Shocked they played it!) https://youtu.be/zEk1JsGtVbw Prayer https://youtu.be/6fwQinEmWcU Runaway https://youtu.be/31IuRDJxNJw |
That IBTFY really does show signs of good things. Maybe the man's still got it...

Nice encore! And a very decent performance of I'll Be There For You !

I hate to be the party popper but that IBTFY was bad, I had to stop after a couple of minutes. Half shouted, half drowned by all the other vocals. Even the band sounded like a cover band on this one. Could be the video quality, but there was something off and the guitars were not helping (why is Shanks playing lead on this one??).
I don't care if it was better than a horrible version. I don't even care about the minimal vocal improvement that lasts for 30% of the show. I'm still shocked to see how much Jon has lost it. He used to sing with ease, he might not have hit all the notes during the 2008-2011 period, but he didn't look as if he was struggling and there was such conviction in the delivery. You got sucked into the performance. Watching Memory from the other day, man, it's SO SAD. I remember how Jon used to sell those slow songs that required a connection with the audience. The "acting" during Hallelujah was a little bit over the top, but I doubt many people sat and check the phones during that performance. His voice being gone sucks. But his stage presence, the hunger that was still present in 2010-11, the rock attitude... that's gone and it's fvcking tragic. That's why the vocal improvement makes little difference to me, I know that even if the improvement reached decent levels, the attitude won't make a comeback and it's probably due to aging and having nothing else to prove, it could have happened anyway with Richie once they got into the RNRHOF. But that's what worked for me. |
