I think i have a love hate relationship with wanted as that's the point in the show I know I won't get any gems.

Highlights::
- Lots of energy singing rollercoaster
- Never thought I'd say this again but sleep was awesome. Jon moved around lots and it was played quicker than the last couple
- they forgot or skipped who says

Lowlights
- for the first time, 0 songs I hadn't already heard live.
- WLOL LH duo was still present.

The sound was louder than last year, didn't notice anything major in terms of voice problems. People around me seemed happy and the 3-4 people I overheard walking out all said the show was amazing.

Much better show than TO last year. Jon was all over the place. It did end early although they went on at 8h30.

Here is to hoping mtl night 2 has something rare.

They forgot LOL. For some reason that made me laugh out loud, I can picture them on the way back to the hotel;

"Oh shit, hey guys, just realized, we forgot to play Who Says tonight! We'll have to play it twice with extra 'it's alrights' to make up for it at the next show!"

And then Hugh replies with - " But Jon, we're all tired of the song!". Jon - "Oh shut your mouth! You're a robot made to play bass on stage, now go back to the cage and be quiet until it's show time again!" :D

The best song on LH is never played - Any Other Day.

Yet crap like LH, WLOL, WGIGO are.

Thx for the reminder ! Forgot how much I love that song.... haven’t listened to it in years. Got it on right now . Was always my favourite lost highway track;) . I think back in the day Jon would introduce the band during this track.

And it had one of the most memorable performances of the last decade :)

Tired of all three to be honest but at least WGIGO is an upbeat track to get the crowd going. But it should definitely be replaced by One Wild Night, and WLOL and LH replaced by 2 of the audibles.

So a 20-song set is the new norm, it seems. When I saw the band live in Sofia, Bulgaria for the first time on home turf, I was bitterly disappointed that Jon put an abrupt end to the show due to his pollen allergy. Ultimately, they only played .... 20 songs which was considered BELOW the bare minimum those days. Never have I thought I would see it become the norm now.
P.S. I have no issue with the number of songs in a show anymore. However, I do have a serious gripe with Jon's setlists in 2017/18. I would welcome a 16-song set if it included Dry County, Something to Believe In, These Days, Always, Saturday Night, Wild Is The Wind, I Believe and Next 100 Years as staples EVERY night.

bonjovi90 05-08-2018 08:16 PM

Who Says You Can't Go Home actually hadn't even been on the printed setlist. So it was skipped deliberately for the first time since Sydney 2010 I think.

Who Says is ok. I'll be much happier if they drop Lost Highway, WLOL, WGIGO and Born To Follow forever. The most needed change is to remove the WLOL and Lost Highway pairing.

If you had heard it live as many times (including endless reprises) as some of us, you'd also be happy if Jon finally chose to play something else instead.

Lost Highway is actually a decent track alone, but combined with WLOL it seems to kill the atmosphere for good... Born To Follow was also OK at first (even live), but as soon as the BWC tour started, it had lost all of its energy and is now a complete filler. WGIGO worked on the LH and Circle/GH tours, but since then it's just been dragging without any of its previous power or excitement as a live track (especially now that they don't have the rising platforms for Jon to jump on anymore).

Yeah, you're right!
But it might've been the first time the song had been dropped in the USA since its release.

Agreed. Who Says is the least of problems in a standard Bon Jovi setlist these days.

Are you all doing it on purpose?? No matter what I post, it always goes unnoticed and thoroughly ignored as if it didn't exist at all.

Yeah, there is a big conspiracy group formed behind the scenes whose sole purpose is to make sure that no one reacts to your posts

No, seriously: this happens to all of us from time to time when there are a few different arguments brought up and some react to them and some react to others. To your theory: not really much has changed here in all honesty. The average show length on this tour has been 21/22 songs.
Going back to the start of the Circle tour, the average show length was around 22 or 23 songs on most nights as well. Of course there were some big exceptions, but there were occasions where the encore was soleley Wanted/Prayer as well. Check it out:

Fredrik 05-11-2018 08:55 AM

For me, and this is highly personal, but from such a setlist there aren't really that many songs I'd like to hear during a live show.

The only songs I'd keep are

01. -
02. Raise Your Hands
03. You Give Love a Bad Name
04. -
05. -
06. -
07. -
08. It's My Life
09. -
10. -
11. Keep the Faith
12. -
13. Bed of Roses
14. Lay Your Hands on Me
15. Runaway
16. -
17. -
----------------------------
18. (You Want to) Make a Memory
19. Wanted Dead or Alive
20. Livin' on a Prayer

The remaining spots could be substituted with so many other great, and for this time and age, reasonable songs to perform live.

WhamATC 05-11-2018 10:05 AM

It's the THINFS tour. People expect them to play some THINFS songs and they should play some THINFS Songs. Otherwise it's not really a THINFS concert.

But yes there should be less from LH but keep WGIGO if it works good.

I know that, despite that THINFS is some of the worst shit the band has ever put out, rivaled only by WAN.

Fredrik 05-11-2018 11:03 AM

So with that said, if they HAD to play any THINFS songs, the set could be so much better and diverse. Easy example...

01. This House Is Not For Sale
02. Raise Your Hands
03. You Give Love a Bad Name
04. Born Again Tomorrow
05. Next 100 Years
06. Wild Is The Wind
07. It's My Life
08. Superman Tonight
09. Living With The Ghost
10. Keep The Faith
11. Diamond Ring (acoustic)
12. Lie To Me (acoustic)
13. Bed of Roses
14. Lay Your Hands on Me
15. Runaway
16. Love's The Only Rule
17. Blood On Blood
----------------------------
18. (You Want to) Make a Memory
19. Wanted Dead or Alive
20. Livin' on a Prayer

Audibles/other songs to vary with in the set:
Any Other Day
Welcome To Wherever You Are
Have A Nice Day
Dry County
These Days
When We Were Beautiful
Saturday Night
In These Arms
I'd Die For You
Never Say Goodbye
I'll Be There For You

I mean, it's not f*cking hard if you wanted to...

Just me who hates it when people post set lists that will never ever happen?

Apart from one, maybe TWO songs per night, nothing is going to change or get us excited too much.

I can see JBJ being ill again soon. He strained bad last night on a lot of songs. It doesn't sound or look healthy.

I know it won't happen you numbnut, it's a theory. But take it from someone who's seen their live shows since 1993, I'm guessing you haven't. Just saying that since we all care so much about setlists and usually how horrible they are, they could with a few changes make a set interesting, diverse and entertaining while still playing songs they could pull of in their current state. After all, it's a message board and we discuss things/voice opinions. So if my opinion makes you go all hate-fuzzy inside, well have a nice day.

Numbnut? Haha ****ing hell, good one.

But what's the point in putting a set list FULL of songs that won't happen? Songs that have a chance, yes. Next 100 years and shit like that just won't happen and I, personally, think it's pointless adding into any set list.
