Much better than the Tidal concerts from 2016. The songs, the band, the mix and Jon's voice.
But I can't help to think about the 1996 french TV show when they played with that same circle band position. |
Who is mixing the band in 2020? He deserves a raise. Superb job.
The songs are good. I like the double guitar solo in Story of Love. |
Only now I could watch it and man it's good. Just a few appointments:
. I was expecting Phil to play the solo on Story of Love, but thinking better this one seems to have a special meaning for Shanks, so I'm good with it. . The slower songs sound amazing live. . The rock songs (Let It Rain, Brothers In Arms, Beautiful Drug and Limitless) well... They rock. . Jon repeating "on a night like this" at the end of Limitless is good. Hopefully they will kick a solo after this when it got to be played live again... (I'm still pissed about this song not having one). . Someone tells Jon to raise the wage of they guy who mixed the sound in this documentary! You can clearly hear everything. What a good job! |
That was definitely much more enjoyable than anticipated. The mix was great, the band nailed it, and I liked the stories in between. I just wish there were more songs than the final 10 that ended up on the album. I think Luv Can and Shine could have rounded it out.
Even some of the songs I haven't been crazy about sounded much better. I actually tolerated American Reckoning and Unbroken. Jon's voice didn't take anything away from the songs, although the vocals were basically a one take studio track. I'm sure they were stripped, fixed, and put back...But so what. I am missing the touring aspect of the album. Even though ever post is a pissing contest between bitching about the set list and ripping on Jon's vocals, I do miss the excitement of it all. Holy hell, Blood In The Water is a struggle for Jon live...
Just as expected. Genuinely can't see it being played live once they get the opportunity to go on tour, unfortunately. Neat to see him playing the harmonica on American Reckoning, though - maybe he'll bring it back for TD next time around as well, what do you think? |
it seems that after shanks took richie down now phil's turn has come

Nice film. I agree... I also liked the "On a night like this" in Limitless and yeah I tolerated American Reckoning and Unbroken, too.
JBJ talking about the next single: https://www.instagram.com/p/CH_WnfanB2G/ Beautiful Drug would be good (it really sucks that he's not considering again the best songs of the album for singles: Luv Can and Shine) |
Another single? This albums dead in terms of more sales.
They are best of just moving on from 2020. I bet the label will be concerned as they only make money from Jovi touring and they won’t be doing that. Only 60,000 copies sold worldwide means the label is on a loss with this album. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
