Richie can't do proper background (or at least the notes he used to sing) vocals since 2005.

How the hell is JBJ looking "like a homeless guy"? He looks like a politican if anything. Homeless guys pushing 60 don't look like JBJ for ****'s sake, grey hair or not.

To R.D. we all look like a homeless, except him of course... >_< jaja.
Or maybe he meant the green coat JBJ wore yesterday...

Back in 2005 it was barely noticeable (in my non expert opinion) but as a fan used to watching live shows you saw the flaws. But Jon's looked in such pain while singing (for beyond poor results) over the last 5 years that I can't believe there's something to do to to fix that he wouldn't have tried.

Not true,Jons voice during 2008 to 2011 was very very good.

I wouldn't say that. The range was back, but especially in 2011 it was still very nasal. Those shows were still amazing, but his voice, in my opinion, was not that much better than the HAND tour.

during that period he just found a way to push even more his chest voice, he's never been a good technique singer tbh...everybody should have expected some wear sooner or later just like it happened before (88,97,2003)

Jon's hair is not grey. It's ****ing white. And it's overgrown, brittle, and looks terrible... I know Jon's hair has always been a taboo topic but this is on a different level now.

When casuals come to shows, see his image, hear his voice they all think he got old or just hit the wall. 58 is not terribly old.

I honestly think he sports that older look to be taken more serious around sport team owners and politicians. Knowing that is what's pissing me off about it.

Moving on... Jon was spotted at the Eagles concert last night with Paul McCartney (that's pretty ****ing cool)... and last week was Billy Joel...

I hope Jon is taking notes. Two different legendary acts from guys in their 70s. Not worrying about being nostalgic. Just playing all their hits, sounding like their albums, and doing it right.. Both acts haven't put out new albums in decades and are still capable of selling out stadiums.

I'm hoping we hear something from the Bon Jovi camp today regarding the release of the first single. The competition is now closed...although Sing Bon Jovi still works and they didn't exactly broadcast yesterday as being the last day.

Agreed! Taking the musical blandness aside, I thought the sung lyrics were made up by fans/a parody a first until I realized that those seem to be the actual lines.

I'm quite looking forward to the release. The lyrics are pretty crap, but I do quite like the instrumental backing. Would be nice to get a release date soon.

I have the same feeling.
But is it possible that it could be worse than We Weren't Born To Follow, Because We Can and This House Is Not For Sale?
We Don't Run is truly the exception.
-_-

It’s worse...

Born to follow had a Jovi chorus and acceptable guitar work
Because we can was at least different and some Brian May sounding guitar (though shit)
This House isn’t a bad Jovi rock song
Limitless is limited shite 😹

For christssake no one has even heard the melody yet.

That's the problem. The instrumental has NO melody whatsoever, which means that Jon's vocal delivery will be the SOLE melody component in the track. Aaand we know Jon's voice is anything but limitless nowadays. Anyway, I still hope to hear a decent track when it gets released.

You can take the vocal melody out of a lot of songs and get a completely different vibe. My point is people treating this like end of days...just wait until it's out to completely write it off.

Agree with your last sentence. However...Jon singing a vocal melody with a totally different vibe? That would be a first 😹

Trust me, this is not going to happen. Jon would've done the first thing already if he actually cared about the quality of the shows. Secondly, his voice clearly is so well and truly f*cked beyond any element of repair that no matter what he tried to do about it, it wouldn't help. He honestly can no longer sing at all, and no amount of frontman capabilities will be enough to compensate for it in terms of making a current BJ show musically enjoyable. That atrocious croaking of his is just too hard to take.

He'll sound even worse this year than late last year, only embarrass himself further for us diehards, and Bryan Adams will blow JBJ's shit fest out of the water night after night after night after night. A bigger amount of casuals than previously will also notice this, and the result will be the last proper arena tour Bon Jovi will be able to do as a headlining act even in the USA.

Of course, this is just my prediction and I'd be more than happy to be proven wrong. Genuinely don't think I'll be, though... :(

Okay. The production on Jon's vocals lends itself well to it. The words are faster paced than I thought which while I LOVE, songs at this speed get Jon so out of breath. But I'm liking this more than I thought I would.

Sounding good so far. After hearing this I can't imagine the chorus is anything like the Instagram guesses

Much better than Unbroken of course.

It seems that his voice sounds good, but I think sounded better in WWWU and Walls. On February 20 we will leave doubts.

liljovi93 02-18-2020 07:53 PM

Lyrically it's poor but I like the tempo and 'attitude' of it.

Much better than I expected. Let's see what the chorus is like...

Most can now rest easy knowing that the vocals aren't following Unboken's style.

The song is just another one of those no depth, just production Shanks style songs.

The More Things Change meets Walls (the recycled Ooohhh's are back) is the first thing that popped in my head.

Eveline 02-18-2020 08:14 PM

It's good, better than its Knockout twin, but tbh it's nothing mind-blowing. I like it and I'm curious how it will sound live. Guess we won't have to wait long anyway.
