We agree to disagree 😉

Don’t get me wrong...I’m going to listen to it loads and me and my daughter will be singing it all day long.

That doesn’t mean that ‘objectively’ it doesn’t suck. I just find your optimism difficult to believe.

JackieBlue 02-19-2020 05:18 PM

I think I might like it. MUCH better than Unbroken.

I hear the "whoa-oh-oh-oh" from We Don't Run and Teardrop to the Sea, the catchy, disjointed phrasing from Good Night NY, and the drive of Knockout. So, yeah, it's nothing new; but as someone said earlier, innovation hasn't been Bon Jovi's long suit for quite some time. That hasn't kept me from liking their songs yet.

An added plus: if the rest of the lyrics are in a similar vein, they won't need to film a new video. They could splice together scenes from WDOA with live shots from the current lineup. (Or they could just use the images of a weary Jon from WDOA with shots from Unbroken, since "it's about me".) :)

It's not optimism so much as giving it a chance to suck haha.

haha it reminds me of the Triumph The Comic Insult Dog and his remark about Jon's vampire movie: "Finally a role that REQUIRES you to suck!"

Since he's given up his "movie career", he finally seems to have found that role again :D

lol now I feel bad I enjoyed the joke that much  but I've read the comments about the new song/snippet here and there and most of them are positive. I think JBJ can rest easy... until the live perfomance somewhere next week *as rumoured

This happens a lot, though. Good feedback and then the songs/albums wear off.

You've just described a natural order of things in BJ world. No more classics, now it's about churning out radio-friendly POP SONGS. And they're only interesting because they're new... then one is tempted to yawn at more of the same old same old.
*maybe that's why it's so difficult to have a guess in a BJ song quiz xD

That's also because the comments on the Instagram and Facebook pages are as filtered as the vocals on Limitless.

That's cheating!
.
But then, what we hear on the album isn't kinda cheating as well?

Worst comments in Jovi history on here so far...

Even WAN and THINFS sale had initial optimism 😹

Come on, man. I'm optimistic! Jon will surely sing live so if he's not afraid, how could I be?

Alphavictim 02-19-2020 09:49 PM

Here's the thing.

If we ever get a new BJ album with a different producer, then yes, it will probably sound quite different than the Shanks stuff. However, I really doubt that this is due to Shanks being unable to get different sounds. According to JS interview with Johnny from the Goo Goo Dolls, HE was the one who said to write a Bon Jovi song when JBJ wanted to do quasi-country. The guy's a producer, not a dictator. He does what JBJ (or "the band" - yeah, right) ask him to do. Hell, Shanks did "Who Would You Die For". That sounds like something from Destination Aynwhere. He can do that sound, too.

Of course, if JBJ ever got so far out of his comfort zone to actually use a different producer, he's probably be in a different headspace altogether. As it is, he wants Shanks to do what we get. I have 0% doubt that JBJ is calling the final shots.

Yeah that's something I've been saying the last few years but listening to that podcast kind of humanized Shanks. He has an ego, sure, but him prancing around on stage is him playing rock star the same way Jon shakes his hips and Richie mugs. You do it to be entertaining.

We're in the endgame with the band, they're not going to fire Shanks. Love or hate the guy, he's keeping the band alive right now.

Its not just Jovi - Pearl Jam have just released another track from their forthcoming album and all their die-hards are not impressed - said it sounds like it took them 5 minutes to write and that the albums are full of songs that will be forgotten after one listen.

Ah dude, I love the two new songs of Pearl Jam.

Same here. I can't say I'm a die-hard but PJ have been the band I've listened to the more over the last 15 years (after BJ of course).

It's a fan, it won't be.

Captain_jovi 02-20-2020 06:42 AM

Anyone know how or WHERE the song is being released? If it was on itunes or spotify you'd think there'd be a button or something showing it'll be coming soon. It might just appear I guess!

We have a full track listing and the most underwhelming album cover I think I've EVER seen. Album is out May 15th.

3 Limitless
4 Luv Can
5 Brothers In Arms
6 Story Of Love
7 Lower The Flag
8 Let It Rain
9 Shine
10 Blood In The Water

trevrox 02-20-2020 07:00 AM

It's on itunes now. Bought it about 10 minutes ago so it went up before midnight.

Hush. That's Jon giving a deep thought to the crisis in America. Look at the Photoshopped flags in his glasses.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

jon-flp 02-20-2020 07:03 AM

Already on spotify too, just not on Bon Jovi's page. You have to search for Limitless.

Out in Apple Music. Wow. Just 10 tracks, hope they are good.

Luv Can? Why the Katy Perry/pop spelling?

The song sounds a lot better than Unbroken but still the lyrics and overall production sucks.

And the album cover just confirms what Bon Jovi has become, instead of a band it's become a one man show. A nice piece of artwork would have been nice maybe even a damn painting but instead Jon has his face planted on the album cover.

eddie73 02-20-2020 07:35 AM

What an absolute shocker of a song ! The chorus is ****ing awful and no solo .... AGAIN ! This is the final nail in the coffin for me after that 😡

thesedays2014 02-20-2020 07:35 AM

https://youtu.be/64uKJjjbKvg

Wow...best first single since TAALS; great melody, lyrics and what a guitar solo...NOT

Has to be the first Jovi first single without a guitar solo right? (MAM had a tiny one, but was a nice song with some great harmonies)

YOVANAfromPeru 02-20-2020 07:50 AM

Can anybody change the title of the thread??? zzzzzz

Roll 02-20-2020 08:44 AM

Limitless manages to be far worse than I expected after listening to the snippet. **** this pussy guitar sound again. I'll listen to the album on Spotify but won't buy it I guess.

Worse than Unbroken to me. Shocking.

And I want to believe the album artwork is not finished yet.

Dave88 02-20-2020 08:49 AM

WTF is this?!?

I mean, Bon Jovi's trademark has always been a catchy chorus/melody that would stuck in your head for days, even on sub-par song.

This is.. just flat. And the same ol' rehashed lyrics. Wow.

Dave88 02-20-2020 08:51 AM

Written by JBJ, Shanks and Billy Falcon.

And in the liner notes Shanks' name comes first; even before JBJ. Never seen this before.
