Must be write by someone paid to big up the performance. They saw a totally different gig to the rest of us.

Of course it don’t help when pages on Facebook like bon Jovi updates are full of comments like...

He’s So handsome

I’ve seen them 35 times are they’ve been great every time. Last night was no different.

Last night they were great....he’s so cute

I love him

They should definitely reconsider selling the house...

I mean, yeah, the vocals are horrendous. But what alarms me even more is that it's the most lifeless, passionless performance I've seen of this song. By all of them :(

Well that was the acid test of whether to do the other UK shows for me. Not happening now, charging a premium price for a substandard product. No one goes to the shows for half of the songs they're playing, it bores the casuals and the die hards. Ask anyone going to list the songs they expect, most of them won't have been played. Those that have seen them on other tours have heard them time and time again.

Taken aside the obvious vocal deficiencies, Jon could still add some new songs to the tour, wasn't it something for the pain the last new addition?

The audibles list is just taking the piss really as we know they are not playing them.

Also what was with those weird seats?

rokenrola 12-02-2018 04:13 PM

Maybe they just enjoy the show generally, not bitching about Jons voice and Phil X so call not fit in with playing. As long as they atract girls and women to the shows and men too,why not, minority but they are there too, shows will get good reviews. That doesnt mean that women are stupid and tasteless about music.
You are here like music critics when some album come up,you are not even there and you are the onea to call show good or bad. People who are actually there and listen the whole show and they good with it,they are happy but for you here they are probably deaf, blind and stupid.Let the people to enjoy what they want, not everyone is demanding like couple of you here.

nikos greece 12-02-2018 04:46 PM

the japan shows and now melbourne are sooo dissapointing... i am not gonna add anything spectacylar just a couple of remarks...
jon looks sooo uninterested...i understand he is the first who is dissapointed by his voice and this drags his on stage persona, his mood etc...why he doesnt care to rehearse 10 new songs for gods sake...this line up has been together for a very long time (unfortunately) so no excuse...add a couple of b sides in an acoustic set up, rotate some material...this is not the bj i love.
tico is great as always and dave is doing the best that he can.
i d guess the sporadic touring would give some passion, jon acts like someone forced him to tour once again and shanks and phil x like the nerdy kids who are living their dream ruining bjs legacy in the process...
i hope it will improve but the fire is gone

true but that's the most recent one and the most fitting. "the newer & bigger" Bon Jovi doesn't really work.

These reviews aren't written as an actual review. Just have a look at the source. These reviews are written to gain page views. There were over 60.000 in attendance and these people will go online, see a review of something they went to and will click like. Chances are the person who wrote the review wasn't even in attendance. It's common practice among tabloids, write whatever the people want to hear. It's why there's no point in looking for reviews for Bon Jovi shows anymore. The more serious newspapers and music magazines ignore the shows as its target audience most likely didn't go either.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

rokenrola 12-02-2018 06:05 PM

There is new level of negativity towards the band-reviews are writen by someone who didnt attend the show, people just click like because they are brainless,I mean there is no possibility that 60 000+ people enjoy the show despite Jons struggle to sing but still to be happy overall.Everything is a lie, they pay someone to write good stuff about the shows because they know they are shit coverband today.

Not only on just this song, but in general, it seems to me that Jon is focusing so much on trying to sing the notes that he just isn't capable of focusing on anything else. Not his timing, the overall feel of the song, his performance delivery...nothing but trying to sing the proper notes. He's even given up playing his acoustic on this song and Wanted, which I'm guessing is because that would now be too much of a distraction for him too.

It's sad to see what used to be so effortless for him has now become a huge, monumental task. Eyes closed with a death grip on the mic seems to be what he feels he has to do now to get through most songs. He can't be enjoying performing like this.

WhamATC 12-02-2018 09:37 PM

He could change some parts of the songs (Notes).

Just like with ITA (The whole song is not only downtuned like any other songs but some parts are lowered)

It won't work with all songs though like LOAP (Won't be as good if you lower the Wo-oh for example, less energetic too).

All the reviews are positive. I will post mine later today, but I will say this; the atmosphere was really good, and the crowd was so loud nobody dwelled long on the fact that Jon wasn't singing like he was 25.

It really does seem like the critics of this page are tone deaf, indeed...

You mean "the crowd was so loud nobody dwelled long on the fact that Jon couldn't sing anymore"?

Again, I have no words. Is this a world-class rock 'n' roll star performing on a sold-out stadium or my grandpa singing in the shower?

Here's a video I took of most of It's My Life, you hear me go "wow" in response to the mass singalong https://youtu.be/qP7rTbepcyE

Seriously, out of all the current issues with Jon’s voice, etc. how much he moves around on the stage is the absolute least of my concerns.

Please excuse me while I make up my mind about whether I should laugh or cry.

Doesn't the guy realize when it's time to quit? Is he really so much of a moron, or doesn't he simply give a shit anymore - as long as he gets the money, everything's fine?

However, the really bad news is that no one in the crowd seems to notice. That shit Jon's trying to sell up there has absolutely nothing to do with singing, let alone with singing on a professional level, yet the delusional people would most likely think the show is wonderful if he just stood on stage, shook his ass and smiled. (The sad fact is, numerous women probably would...)

Is this really what has become of the band we love?

I'm speechless.

It's hard to believe this was just 8 years ago.

lot of people there, It’s My Life is a good song and a real "big hit single" that everybody knows...

steel_horse75 12-03-2018 10:55 AM

Tell you something.

Never put out a tweet saying how the setlist was poor and JBJ voice is shot.
I got a ton of fat bored housewives (sorry but they were) slagging me off saying Im not a fan if I dont like the new albums and think JBJ cant sing. :D

Anyone on that Bon Jovi new era facebook page?

Someone put that daily mail review and i said - clearly the reviewer wasn't there otherwise they'd hear a ton of Australians saying - what song is this? due to first 8 songs being terrible
I had to leave the group for own sanity because I dont like JBJs ass shaking and dont think he's handsome I was getting moaned at :D

Was a very enjoyable Sunday.

I heard twitter was out of control lately, I have no idea...
I actually only like to read here, I really can't tolerate any more fans >_< hahah.

MellyMel 12-03-2018 04:42 PM

That IBTFY video was bad. Jon’s performance just makes me very sad. We’ll never know for sure if he continues for the money or another reason. But, I sometimes think that he has toured so much of his life, he doesn’t want to let it go. He doesn’t know what to do with himself if he doesn’t tour occasionally. If he continues like this, he will soon not have a choice whether or not to tour. He simply won’t be able to sing at all. It must be a terrible feeling to lose your voice.

But that's the thing. He hasn't been singing at all the last 3 years and just have a look at Jovitalk; everyone's still buying tickets. Bon Jovi's audience doesn't really seem to care as to what the singer sounds like nowadays. So many people on here are bitching and yet all of them have bought tickets for either 1 or multiple shows. Those who did care have left this band for dead about 20 years ago.

That's no review either. :)

It's hard to find decent concert reviews nowadays anyway, but this shit is useless. Mentioning what songs were played and what whatever band member wears is pretty much like writing down the set and then describing a photograph.

I think there's some truth to the story of Bon Jovi banning newspapers and the likes whenever something critical was written in the past. The band has never sounded worse and for some reason they're brilliant in every single review posted out there.

Now I've no doubt most people had a great time as you don't get a crowd to sing along if they're not enjoying themselves but if Twitter is full of people mentioning the sound issues as opposed to video's and selfies there surely should be more to say other than "boy oh boy did they deliver".

Sebastiaan

every one of them are positive, strange :D? It is important that people enjoyed the show.

Basically the reviews are saying the first half of the show was dull - but just have said it nicer than that.

Basically whatever some people think there are still people who enjoy the band,no matter of Jons voice being on the edge.
And one thing also, people make mistakes by compare them to other bands, that is not possible.Like, look at U2 or look at Stones,or Springsteen etc. Why? There are no same bands, not by songs, not by playing and specially not by singing.
Our boys have singles and songs that are very high to sing, that is not exuse for Jon but their songs are pretty high from old ones to new ones and those are hits need to be play.
