Also is it just me or did Jon sound a lot better than usual for 2018 on most of this show? I hope he isn't starting to put autotune on his mic...

Not sure what he did but his voice did sound good. Perhaps he took a swig of his hamptons wine before the show! I can’t recal the last time Jon was so energetic.

My personal preference is a new track to open but most would prefer a hit. However bad name got things moving early on.

What’s with all the Matt bongiovi references?

If a bad recording device makes you sound out of breath does a good recording device automatically give you great stamina? I've little doubt you had a great time and enjoyed the show but to blame the criticism on Jon's vocals on recording devices sounds a little ignorant. There's a reason why Everett is singing along with Jon to pretty much everything and it's not because Jon's in such great shape.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Jon pretty much did a 2+hr aerobics session so was a little out of breath and perhaps he isn’t working out as much to keep him fit. Plus it was a warm night. But I do acknowledge at times his vocals were a fraction delayed from the instruments but negligible.Having said that everyone had a blast and didn’t focus on his vocals. This tour has received outstanding reviews from all major media outlets. Even the indie metal reviews have been glowing.

I was dreading going to this concert from all the vocal talk but pleasantly surprised.

Theres a video of 1 h 23 mins of the concert called "Best moments, etc 2018 sydney bon jovi" just search Bon Jovi 2018 sydney youll probably see it.

During prayer he was in the crowd! He even shaked his mic (Tokyo 88 LOAP and you know) during LOAP which he probably hasn't done since the 80's. Perfect hope he stays like that especially thru whole leg of Europe.

I mentioned, back in May at the last MSG shows on this tour that Jon (the frontman) showed up in all his glory. The last night at MSG was awesome, not so much because Jon sounded so good but because he actually acted as if he wanted to be there and
he made it a super good show.

MellyMel 12-10-2018 02:56 AM

That Prayer performance is impressive. A show like this makes me wonder if
A-he let them shoot steroids in his throat (last show) or
B-he snorted something ;-)

Savvi 12-10-2018 03:34 AM

Audibles were These Days, In These Arms and Always.

The set list played was exactly what was planned, including Blood On Blood and Saturday Night.

JerseyGiant 12-10-2018 03:50 AM

Been following these shows and I want this Jon at Wembley not the static stuck holding on for dear life Jon at his microphone. Jon to me is my fav frontman and I know the voice is gone but it's so much better when he's into it! The first few shows of this leg were piss poor and if he brings his 110% to Wembley I can't think of a better way to say goodbye.

London is one of the biggest shows of the European tour, id be pissed if he doesnt bring it.

jovifan93 12-10-2018 10:18 AM

Hmm, watching that Best Of video, I must say that Sydney is the first show of this leg that I actually think his voice suffered/is gone. He hits less notes than he actually does, sounds hoarse as hell, etc. All things that weren't there to that extent the shows before. I wonder if he knew his voice wasn't up to it that night and decided to compensate by playing the frontman a bit more?

EDIT: I'm talking about Bad Name and Raise Your Hands here, it seems to get better later on...

jovifan93 12-10-2018 10:36 AM

And at 53:27, is that just a loooong echo or is it playback?

Bounce7800 12-10-2018 12:19 PM

Vocally more than a bit ropey in places, but when he's back to being a proper front man it doesn't matter, as that was very enjoyable to watch. Keep this up please Jon.

weekend 12-11-2018 10:15 AM

You guys are in for a real treat if Jon brings his a-game to Europe. Shows like this one remind me why he is one of the best frontmen around.

I have finally come around to watch these clips. Can't believe what a difference it makes when Jon is like this. I smiled through entire LOAP simply because Jon put on a "believeable" performance for once. This really makes it obvious how much it means to a Bon Jovi show if Jon brings his A-game as a front man. Take a song like Roller Coaster - having Jon work the stage like that took it to another level as a live song.

Only shame is how inconsistent he is. It suck that you have to worry that you either get a statue behind the mic stand that seems to want nothing more than to get of the stage - or a great front man like the closing shows here in Australia. It's like a different front man if you compare the Tokyo show to the Sydney show.

True. And while that has been the case on recent tours, as well, it's never been as drastic (ok maybe in 2013). Only thing that makes me hope for next year is that he loves Munich (where I'm going), so we'll see...

Of course I want a band that puts some effort into their work but I rather have someone who enjoys being onstage than a perfect show. I hope Munich will be a good one, although I don't expect it to be the highlight. I am much more interested in Wembley, tbh.

The last German show usually is one of the top concerts of their European tour (Cologne 2013, Mannheim 2011, Frankfurt 2008 and so on) and this time that's Munich :D

YEAH (we have to stay positive here...):-)But I agree: Cologne and Mannheim were indeed quite special. I don't really know why but I am more excited than I thought I would be!

It had it's purpose on the crush tour but, it's ok to burry it now.
Jon just can't get enough of that hip shake hands up in the air thing people do.
What a waste of 5 precious minutes in which so many other great songs could have been played
