Songs you would like to see in Europe
I thought it could be interesting to see what songs from the BJ catalogue people here would like to see performed on the European tour later this year without clogging up the official tour updates thread. For me, there's no point suggesting songs that have no chance of being played, or that might give Jon a mild stroke to sing eg Let it Rock. This is my first thread here so please be nice, and mods if I've done something wrong sorry in advance.
Anyway, 5 songs I'd like to see that I think could actually be played are : Last Man Standing (we saw it in Aus and I liked it) I Got the Girl (played in Vegas in 2017, the verses are very easy to sing so could suit Jon well) Hard Letting you Go (personal favourite of mine, not really expecting it to happen) Superman Tonight /Loves the only rule (both good songs and would be nice to hear something from the Circle that isn't WWBTF) Open all Night (referring more to the Bounce version, but any of the various songs they've got on this theme would be great) I've tried to think of stuff that is actually feasible here, interesting to see what others think. |
I Believe
Wild Is the Wind Blaze of Glory Destination Anywhere Make a Memory Any Other Day The Distance Superman Tonight I Will Drive You Home New Year’s Day Love’s the Only Rule |
I absolutely want to hear I Believe live again even though the chances are probably very low.

I Believe
Wild Is the Wind Last Man Standing The Devil's in the Temple Living With the Ghost Undivided Hook Me Up Something for the Pain Hey God Damned |
Shot Through the Heart - not a chance in hell of being played, but well within Jon's range so he wouldn't sound like a donkey with a throat infection trying to sing it
Anything from 7800 Fahrenheit other than King of the Mountain - not a chance in hell like the previous entry, but would shock the hell out of us diehards if hell ever froze over and it did happen Never Say Goodbye - It would be great to hear this one in full band electric again, how long has it been? Since the Crush/OWN tour? Living in Sin - I think we actually have a good chance of hearing this one. Wild is the Wind - not terribly difficult to sing, Phil X could probably play the intro with enough practice Blaze of Glory - surprised there haven't been any performances of this one since 2013, I'm expecting this one to make 1-2 appearances if the "Europe gets the best setlists and everyone else gets a snoozefest" rule stands for this tour. (It's Hard) Letting You Go - great song, not that difficult to sing, would make a great change-up in the set Lie to Me - makes a great intro to Always, and by itself would be a great, unexpected change to the set This Ain't a Love Song - great ballad, probably won't be played, but one can hope. It was played 3 times during the last European tour so you never know Hey God - a bit rangy to say the least, but didn't Phil X tweet something out in the past year or so that they rehearsed this one? Diamond Ring - another one I'm surprised hasn't been performed at all since 2013, easy for Jon to sing even with his current range unlike most TD songs. Just Older - why hasn't this been performed since 2011? Great song, quite a few people know it, not the hardest to sing. Maybe Jon feels he's too old to sing it anymore? Next 100 Years - definitely won't happen, but I'd love to see Phil X tear up the solo at the end. Easy for Jon to sing. I Got the Girl - was played in Vegas in 2017 so I see a possibility of it returning. Thank You For Loving Me - Jon sang this at a televised wedding at the beginning of last year, and would be a great encore song. One Wild Night - every time WGIGO gets played, I think to myself "if only they'd continued playing OWN after 2001, we wouldn't be hearing this **** at almost every show!" Everyday - I've been saying this since last year, this song requires very little range and would make a great replacement for HAND, which Jon struggles a lot with nowadays Undivided - not as easy to sing as Everyday, by far and away the best song on Bounce and makes a great encore song. Misunderstood - the band should've played this one when they were in Latin America a little over a year ago. It's popular there. Not difficult for Jon to sing and would change up the ballad section after KTF Bounce - great show opener if they decide to play around with that more, also a great replacement for HAND since it's in a lower key The Distance - great song from the Bounce album, would make an interesting change-up to the setlist The Radio Saved My Life Tonight - considering Jon sings the chorus an octave below the studio version, and it was performed in Asia in 2015, I think this has a good chance of appearing. Garageland - it was a huge surprise in 2013 and will be again if they dust it off this time round. Miss Fourth of July - great change-up for the ballad section, Phil or Shanks would need to know Mandolin for it though. Last Man Standing - good chance of this one appearing again since it worked so well in Australia. Would be cool to hear the original version from the Box Set during the acoustic section. Welcome to Wherever You Are - fairly well-known song, one of my personal favorites. Would make a good change-up. Bells of Freedom - another of my personal favorites, would make a good change up. Works better live than WTWYA in my opinion. Any Other Day - Phil playing the final solo would be different to Richie for sure, this is the only song from the LH album that I would like to see performed more often rather than less. When We Were Beautiful - worked well in Montreal, wish they'd tried it again in Australia. Hopefully makes an appearance or two in Europe. Maybe it could be a show opener like that one time in 2013? Superman Tonight - considering Jon's range I think the acoustic version performed in Seoul would make more sense nowadays. Should've been swapped with Amen a few times during the last NA tour. Love's the Only Rule - probably one of the most difficult post-2000 songs vocally, has a great energy and worked really well closing the main set in 2010. Thorn in My Side - imagine Jon and Phil X doing the dual guitar thing like him and Richie in 2010 No Apologies - just a good way to mix up the set. The Fighter - makes a good changeup for the ballad section, much better song than Amen imo. Thick as Thieves - my personal favorite from WAN, it would make a good switch up during the acoustic/ballad section. Anything from Burning Bridges other than We Don't Run - easy songs to sing (except maybe parts of WWYDF), would make great shakeups. Born Again Tomorrow - why this song hasn't been played at all since the promo show in Florida in early 2017 is a mystery that will perhaps never be solved. Shoulda been promoted as a single The Devil's in the Temple - one of the best from THINFS in my opinion, much better than RC or GBTM. Come on Up to Our House - another one which I'm surprised hasn't been played at all since the promo shows. Would make a great encore song to go right before Prayer. I Will Drive You Home - my personal favorite from THINFS, the easiest BJ song to sing out of the entire catalog, and I really want to hear what the outro will sound like sung by the real band. All Hail the King - just a good song for a setlist shakeup. Real Love - good replacement for Amen if they ever throw in another ballad between KTF and BOR again. Touch of Grey - my personal 2nd favorite from the album, probably only has a chance in Germany since that's the only European country the song was released in. I'd love to hear an extended version of the outro. Walls - just like BAT, why the **** hasn't this song been played at all yet!? At least play it a couple times while it's slightly relevant! |

I like most of your list, Zakatar. You dived deeper than I did because I thought, “Not a shot in hell.” I really like Roulette. I think it would be great live. That would be my “early” pick.

I'll let you guys guess it.....

I don't think any other than the acoustic rendition has really been done in the 2000's. Quote:

That's not why I said HBE, though. I just think it's one of the best tracks on TD; and I've always wondered why it's never been performed live. Actually, there are a few others; but that one always comes to mind first. I could also have added Maybe Someday and Room at the End of the World, for the same reason. I doubt it will happen; but since we're taking long shots... I'd like to hear "Stay", too. I can't understand why there isn't a live recording of that one either, at least from a Runaway show or something. I guess that means I'm a Jon fan, too. Who woulda thunk? :p :) |

It's a hybrid version as you mentioned, but for me it was a brilliant and beautiful rendition. (and done in the 00's.) I don't expect any "new" old song to debut. But, who knows, maybe Jon could pull of some easy songs, as Story of my life, Two story town, and everyday. |
Aloha !
Everyone wants to hear songs there's no chance of hearing. Even if they would they'd never sound as good as you'd hope they would. Quote:

I'D love to hear Walls for example. My girlfriend loves it (she's a few years younger than me) because it sounds quite modern. It's the newest song etc. Or I Will Drive You Home - it also sounds modern, it's unique,it has atmospehere. It's not a stadium song though. However, a shorter acoustic version as intro to one of the bigger ballads. From the old songs - iI think it would be nice to hear something rare, even though in a differenent voice-friendly version. Jon played Living In Sin at one of his solo shows. It would be nice towards the fans to show some effort. |
These Days, Dry County, This Ain't A Love Song, Love's The Only Rule but I'm just a dreamer nevermind :D

Will someone try to pull this off in Europe? I know this is absurdly far-fetched but there have been a few documented attempts to make JBJ sing Silent Night.
But really, I'd like a fresh smoothie of No Apologies, Walls, and BAT. Maybe sprinkle some Hey God (don't blame me, they rehearsed this) and pray that he'll even consider Shot Through the Heart, Silent Night, Two Story Town, Next 100 Years, and/or Novocaine. https://i.pinimg.com/originals/f0/72...2b9b405a1c.jpg |

Almost all setlists from the 80's and 90's are based upon either broadcasts or bootlegs. Many of the shows on there are just copy/paste since too many concerts weren't recorded. Gesendet von meinem Nexus 5X mit Tapatalk |

I wanna hear Letting You Go and a bit of Never Say Goodbye (since he rarely sang it in full in 2013). Then I'd have heard all songs I wanted to hear live from Bon Jovi and can move on :) |

Regardless of why he said it, if Jon wasn't lying and really has no intention of singing it without Richie, then it still tops my list of songs I'd like to see the band do in EU... (or Israel, or on a cruise, or on a train, or in the rain... I'll stop now; since Dr. Seuss has apparently taken over my brain.) :D |
I'm suprised he even said that at all...i don't recall hearing him say that about any other song? It is my fave song on the box set and I'd love to hear it live, though there was never much chance of that, even less so now...

(I know, hope dies last...) And, btw, I don't remember him saying it about any other song either. |

Miss Fourth of July was written in a period when Jon thought that his dream (and more so the band) had possibly gone/disbanded.
That's why he said before some live performances "I happen to like the song more now because it doesn't hurt as bad." With Richie's departure which hurt him deeply, that pain has returned. I also don't think he'd actually ever play Wanted and I'll Be There For You again if those hadn't been hits. Gesendet von meinem Nexus 5X mit Tapatalk |
The Miss Fourth Of July comment is an old comment but it sounded definitely more emotional than the one JBJ saying it took him 3 years to sing again I’ll Be There For You, that he felt trepidation about it...
I also always thought Richie voice in Miss Fourth Of July contributed a lot to this gorgeous song. |

Add to that list : - Let it rock - Something to believe in - Blaze of Glory (which seems to be off the setlist for a long time now) |

I think it's easy to forget the psychological effect Richie leaving the way he did must have had on Jon (as well as David, Tico and Hugh). I still think it's fair to say that much of the damage to Jon's voice in 2013 was a result of this. Hopefully there's some improvement in Europe although I'm not holding out for much.
